Okay, screw sometimes. I hate my lack of foresight.

I also hate my hormones, but I think anyone posessing of two X-chromasomes can sympathize.

*about ready to swear off TV completely*

I have two major writing assignments due on Monday! *whinebitchmoan*

(No, you do not want to know what happened to the third assignment I had due... *grumble*)

   23:01
T'weren't your opinions themselves that would've gotten you bitch-slapped, it's the fact that you were looking down your nose at e'eryone else to deliver them. (Not to mention the fucking high horse on fucking higher stilts...) Now, if you wanna come off of your "I'm better than everyone else and here's WHY" trip and say it then, I'd be perfectly happy to agree with everything you said.

And why did I feel the need to say that publicly? Cuz I'm too chickenshit to bring it up in private. And I admit it. ^x.x^

ARGH! I HATE BEING A FEMALE! I HATE IT I HATE IT IHATEITIHATEITIHATEIT!!

SotM: "Surrender (Romantic Mix)" by Depeche Mode

Okay, officially, the incessant media coverage of the attack on the WTC and Pentagon is gettind downright ANNOYING. We haven't done anything in Psychology but watch the TV. YES, I recognize this is a tragedy, but we really have to move on with our lives!

At risk of joining the high horse club (which is another matter entirely...), I venture to say that the American society is secretly masochistic. Or all working for Arithon. It seems phyiscally impossible for us to separate our angsting from our breathing. This isn't saying anything about the people with friends or family or loved ones in or near the attacked areas; they have every right to mourn. But the average American who has little or nothing to do with this just seems to be sitting here whimpering when we know we could be doing something else significantly more productive.

We just seem to be deriving far too much pleasure from sitting around wallowing in our self-pity and hurt and fear. I mean, we must derive pleasure from it, if we've been sitting around doing it for so long without doing anything about it.

And on the note of time-frame: it's only been FOUR DAYS since this happened, people! If I here one more person crying about how we're going to die tomorrow, I will scream! Yes, you could die tomorrow. In fact, you could've died today. It's only been FOUR DAYS. Yes, we may be gearing up for war, but A) it takes a lot longer than four days to finish preparing for an assault, at least one of the magnitude Bush implies he wants, and B) nothing is set in stone until it happens. I mean, for all we know, bin Laden may decide to turn himself in, precluding the need for a war (which would be kinda funny, if you think about it).

I would give an awful lot to have a regular bit of un-interrupted, regular TV time. I don't watch much TV. In fact, of late, I can count the shows that I follow faithfully on one hand (Samurai Jack, Witchblade, Wayne Brady, and Invader Zim). You guys don't know how happy I was when I saw a regular commercial while waiting for Zim to come on. I have basically heard nothing but terrorist coverage since 9ish on Tuseday, and that gets really old over four days. Now, I come to Saturday and finally have a show since Monday that isn't pre-empted by news coverage cuz it's on a kid's cable network.

And what do they do?

It's deemed too offensive and they yank it. I'm willing to bet they'll do similarly for Jack on Monday. Why does this piss me off so? First of all, most of these higher-ups don't seem to realize that what we need now is entertainment in order to regain some form of normalcy. Second of all, this smacks of even worse things to come. Who decides what is currently offensive? Will we be censoring our shows and such from now on? When will we decide to face this part of reality again? In general, I think the idea of pulling shows/commercials/trailers/movies because of this is stupid. We're going to have to face it anyway, and this censorship could easily become something more sinister.

1984, anyone?

I don't think I'll go into my skool day because I recognize that in the light of all these things, it's all pretty damn trivial. But let's suffice to say that these things are not making getting on with my life any easier. ^-.-^;; (it doesn't help that I'm a mostly-Democrat stuck in classes full of Bush-worshippers...)

Under normal circumstances, I'd be commenting about the high horse club right now but I'm being too hormonal and I've ranted long enough already. Mebbe later.

SotM: "Ponytail Girl" by Depeche Mode, tho I am unsure if that is the track's actual name...

(Ice-bitch na Nee-chan, ignore this next bit, as it will piss you off...) Danke sehr, but I found it. It's a wee bit more dated than the version circulating in email would have you think, but it's still applicable, ne? And, as for what Nee-chan has said, I generally agree. But, frankly, this could be said of almost any first-world/industrialized western country, so it's not like this is new or special or anything. Yeah, most people don't generally give a flip in the off hours, but the fact that people do anything at all in a crisis situation says something in my book.

And in the grand spirit of getting on with my life, I shall (finally) give my impression of Grand Conspiracy so far (a little over half-way through, I think).

I REALLY want Ellaine to string Lysaer up by his bullocks, grab a mace from the armoury, and play pinata with him. ^>.<^ But I know that won't happen because the war's supposed to go on for five flippin' centuries and we're only about three decades in. ^-.-^;;;;;;; If three decades is (four hardback, not counting Peril's Gate, or) five paperback books, how the hell are we going to work in another 470 years?! And it irks me because it really leaves little room to hope for people you like to win, because you know that until you reach the magic 450 year mark, there's NO WAY they'd be able to do so.

And I so want to smack most of the cast right now. Lysaer for just being a bitch in general, but I also want to smack almost all of the Arithon camp, Arithon included. I mean, DAYUM, can't they not angst for one moment? Is it physically impossible for them to not angst and breath at the same time? Will they stop breathing if they stop angsting? Wouldn't that be better for them if they did? AND WHY CAN'T ARITHON AND ELAIRA GET IT ON ALREADY?! (Okay, I understand the reasoning they give, but UST only goes so far, here... This is exactly why I stopped watching Farscape after they killed the other John.)

And while we're talking Elaira here, I want to see more of her, dammit! Grrr... *frustrated*

Now, all of this isn't saying that I don't still like this series, but I am very frustrated with it of late. ^-.-^;

I need to cut out my costume this weekend, but I have a book review in history due on Monday, twelve journal entries in German due on Monday, and likely a Crucible essay due on Monday in LA, even though she has YET to tell us anything about it... *gripebitchmoan* Oh well, at least I'm doing reasonably well in most of my classes. Geh.

Eh, I'm done now.

Okay, I haven't exhausted my steam.

I wish I could find a link Alan told me about, about an editorial from Canada and the reporter's take on all this. I found it interesting, at least in the retelling. I hope I can find it and post the link here.

I bet most of you didn't know that I'm patriotic. I guess I'm not really, in the traditional sense; when I say the pledge, I stop when the big-ass prepositional phrase starts (you know the one: "to the republic..."). I don't pledge allegiance to the government. I don't trust the government any further than I could throw the White House. I guess most people wouldn't consider this patriotism. *shrug* But the fact is, even though I don't like my government, I still love my country. I guess I didn't realize exactly how much until some asshole decides he wants to blow it up (exaggeration, I know... work with me here!), but I have always loved my country.

What was the point of this? Well, along with everything else, I encourage you to love your country (even if you don't live in america, love the country you're in!). It's the only country you have (I hope I'm not talking to anyone with dual-citizenship), and in most cases, especially in the industrialized west, it provides you with all sorts of freedoms and rights and liberties. More than being an attack on America, I think this was a symbolic attack on the liberties we, as free people, enjoy. So just remember those liberties and cherish them, and try to defend them in any way you can. Remember, you only have the rights you're willing to fight for.

SotM: "Sweet Soul Sister" by The Cult

I really can't express how I feel about all of this. I want to cry not only for the people who died but also because of all the good people are doing in spite of this. Yeah, I bet you never thought I was so sentimental. I didn't either. ^n.n^;;

All I can really say is that now that I've gotten over the shock and have had my moment of silence for the dead, I am going to go on with my life. Which isn't to say that I'm going to forget this ever happened; anyone who does doesn't have much of a heart, yaknow? But the whole point of terroristic acts is to scare people into not doing what they would normally do, and I am not going to give these effing bastards the satisfaction of that. I'm not going to let them rule my life by fear. I so want to fly a flag on Friday, if only to say that I'm here, I'm not going away, and I'm not going to let you have power over me. I encourage all of you to do the same.

Moreso than that, though, I also encourage you to donate, donate, donate! Don't let this tragedy bring out the worst in you. Don't start hating because of this, that would mean you're only sinking to their level. If you can't donate, give support. If someone's troubled, lend a sympathetic ear or give them a hug or something. Just don't let hate or fear rule you. If you do that, then the terrorists are winning, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let that happen to me or anyone else if I can help it.

*steps politely off her soapbox* *looks back at above passages* Damn. Give me a pulpit and I'll be set. ^n.n^;;; */preachermode*

*HUGHUGHUGS her Niichan* The feeling is mutually, dood. Thanks. ^n.n^

*big hugs to all of her friends in general* Same goes for you, I love you all. Thanks for being here for me, doods.

Geh. I've exhausted all of my steam. I like the layout, Nee-chan! ^n.n^

I shut up now. ^n.n^;;;

This blog shall hold a moment of silence for those killed or wounded during the terrorist attacks this morning.

I encourage everyone who can to please donate blood to the Red Cross or money to the disaster fund.

That is all.
