+  has it really been two weeks since I've updated this? wow. time flies when you've got a new domain to play with.

if you haven't figured it out already, this log is being updated at zaedryn.com through greymatter now. please update your links + bookmarks, etc etc ...

+  the personal domain design is coming along. I suppose it's about time to announce it: www.zaedryn.com.

+  have you seen jay's redesign? oh my, it's so good. I actually called and left him a voicemail that he posted, so you can go hear my voice if you really feel like it. that's kind of embarassing, I listened to it again and I just feel like I'm rambling, but at least I didn't say anything too stupid.

I am always so inspired by jay's designs. he's got such amazing talent. I've got this personal domain I'm working on, but I can't seem to get a design going ... hopefully I'll come up with something today. I found some old sunrise photos and made up this layout, but it seems stuck there. I've also got some washed-out self-portraits that I turned into a white/peach layout, but likewise I can't get much further than that. I'm hoping to use php3 for templates ... but that's about as far as my planning has gone. maybe today I can come up with something.

+  photos from last night, outside my building. it's still snowing, and it's sticking .. I hope to take more photos today.

+  school's closed today! it's snowing!

+  my roommate + I made a mix tonight. I posted it.. it was so good. I will hopefully reflect on tonight extensively tomorrow.

+  you can generate your own superhero if you want to.

+  interesting commentary on the origin of the word fuck. urbanlegends.com also has a page on that, as well as the book the F-word. I dig it.

+  the stranger, the local alternative free newspaper, publishes the results of their sex survey every year around Valentine's Day. some of the results include: "100% of Muslims bought sex toys in the year 2000. (Well, the one Muslim who took our survey did--plus, it was a sex toy that needs to be plugged in!) 27% of men who've had sex with someone they met in an Internet chat room have had over 100 sexual partners! In the year 2000, 33% of Jews got a rim job!" it makes for an amusing read. the valentines also published are pretty fun to read.

+  oh, and speaking of Valentine's Day: don't forget V-day.

+  I actually sent a letter to the NYT editor... it read like this:

    Dear NYT Editor,

The two stories that ran right next to each other in February 8th’s Living Arts section seemed to be supporting each other, but in fact they sent two different messages. It’s good to see open encouragement of men entering a traditional female role, which seemed to be the intention of “Gender Wars on the Home Front”. However, the focus of the article wasn’t on the skilled men, but rather on their strict rules about their decor when their girlfriends enter their lives, often “encouraging” (forcing) their girlfriends to leave all of their furniture behind when they move in. Isn’t this subtly reinforcing the ‘Surrendered Wife’ idea that was analyzed in the subsequent article, "Yes-Dearing Your Way to a Happy Marriage”? Can’t we encourage men to have good decorating skills as well as to talk and negotiate when starting a serious partnership with another person? Granted, some women wouldn’t care, but many would - and both the article and the book The Surrendered Wife are only reinforcing this overbearing controlling attitude. When will we be able to compromise?

+  so napster has been dealt another blow. this really makes me want to write that "napster rocks my world" article that I keep intending.

+  the cummings poem never could anyone seems appropriate to blog for valentine's day. via cecily.
