Gender Matters

The Baltimore Activists Coalition, after holding its groundreaking Gender Matters seminar in February, which focused on the injustices faced by transgendered Marylanders, is continuing its quest to work toward justice for all. Among BAC plans: Working to prevent the repeal of the recently passed Antidiscrimination Act of 2001 while also working to change the law's language to include protection against discrimination on the basis of gender identity and expression in housing, employment, and public accommodations; meeting with public officials to have transgender protections included in Baltimore City antidiscrimination ordinances; and educating the public on transgender issues and on the importance of equality for every one of us.

BAC: Prepared to Take on the BSA

Following our successful July 5, 2000 protest against the discriminatory anti-gay and anti-church policies of the Boy Scouts of America, the issue is still front-burner: Check out the recent actions of the United States Congress to attempt to force public schools to support a discriminatory private organization. (If the gummint can pimp particular private organizations, how about help for BAC? For the GLCCB? For NOW?)

BAC continues to work to make sure that discriminatory private groups do not have access to public funds or resources. It's only fair, after all.

And we need your help! For information on joining, write the Baltimore Activists Coalition at baltoactivists@mindspring.com.

We call for an end to hate and violence.
We call on religious and political extremist groups to stop the hate.
We call on all people to accept their fellow humans as God made us.
We implore all state and local legislative bodies to pass initiatives
showing society won't put up with violence targeting groups of people.
Take a stand against hate-motivated violence every day.
