So, I've been noticing a lot of college and university IPs coming through in my stats... quite a wide range of them at that. This sparked an idea in my head. I want to get to know you people better or at least see who's coming from where.
Post in the comments box what college you go to, your first name, or whatever else you want. If you're not currently in college maybe post the state or city or whatever you feel comfortable with. It'll be a meet and greet free-for-all and it'll be interesting to see the variety of colleges/states/et cetera represented.
Come on people, this doesn't take too much effort. I know you all will have an answer with this one!

For all you Tori Amos lovers out there, the new album, Strange Little Girls, is out tomorrow... as if you didn't already know if you're a true Tori lover. ;)
If you didn't notice earlier, I've basically been a day ahead of myself for week now, hence I'm sitting here thinking it's Tuesday, not Monday. My brain just isn't working right. I've been a total airhead & a half lately. So has my mother. I think it's something in the air.
(Thank you, Pete.)

Kathy Boccella of the Philadelphia Enquirer just called me and interviewed me about the article she's doing about teen bloggers. Needless to say, I was nervous as could be and probably came off sounding like a total fool.
I seriously hope the article doesn't try and make me to look like I'm one of those "cam girls" that they've recently been doing the articles on. That stuff is nuts. I hope it's just a decent article on blogger itself and what a great tool it is. Not an "oh my God!" look at what these kids are doing type deal. I kinda got the feel from the questions she was more interested in why I was publishing what I publish of my personal life other than focusing on Blogger itself. For cripes sake, I've been posting a journal and stuff online since 97, BEFORE blogger even exsisted! It's kinda like the teen domain scene was just suddenly discovered and they think it's all blogger's doing. Sigh, the tangled webs we weave.
I certainly hope I don't end up regretting doing the interview. She seemed nice enough, but who knows what'll come out after the editing process. Now I'm nervous, hah.
Anyway, I'm going to go see American Pie II this afternoon with Stephanie. Then, I get to come home and immerse myself in the wonderful world of art projects, studying for art history, and all that jazz for school tomorrow. What a weird day.

I think it must be illegal to let me sleep past 10 AM anymore. I thought for sure after my 4:30 AM bed time last night that I'd be able to sleep straight through til 12 or 1. Hah, fat chance. 10:00 rolls around and Mom comes busting in my room telling me we have to pull the crate down because our friends need to use it. Great, wonderful, just fricking great! Just what I wanted to wake up and do. But, after a half an hour of frustration and kicking the stupid thing, we finally got it to fold down like it was suppose to. I can't say I'm too upset about the thing getting the heck out of my room, sure I don't have a place to set my books and stuff now, but I sure as heck have a huge open space in my room again. I can either put my papasan chair back in or maybe set an art studio up on that side of my room. I'm in desperate need of some space for one. Working on wobbly TV trays isn't cutting it, heh. Plus, if I get a cheap monitor, I can set the old computer up over in my room and network it with this one & the cable modem and walla, computer in my room & in here!
Oh yeah, and to top my morning off, I've got cramps. They're hurting me like a mother-clucker. Sometimes I dispise being of the female gender.
I just want to go back to sleep, but all the dogs are barking, the news is on - I can't stop watching -, and I have things to do. Lifes little idiosincracies are starting to kick in again. I'm unnumbing myself after the week's happenings.

Akk! The new yellow messanger bags being offered at Cafe Press are awesome as hell. I'm going to make a few graphics for a store on there. I've been thinking about doing that for like an eternity now. I better move my ass, they're only offering them til the 30th. I just don't know what to make, heh. If anyone wants to make a rainy.net graphic for me to use on it, go for it. I'd appriciate it, heh. Whether I use it or not, I'll post em' all (if I get any) and give you full credit and all that stuff. If anything, it might help to get your mind off shit if it's on it still. God knows the TV won't let us forget for two seconds.
*hurrys off to mess around with graphics*

243 American flags, signs, ribbons, and banners displayed in a small area of the city... Hell, that was only the ones I was able to see and count. At some points I was flicking my head back and forth trying to count so quickly that I'm sure I missed quite a few. Those of which were on poles with the ablity to be raised or lowered, were at half mast. On a normal day, you'd probably only count about 20, if that. It was quite a humbling thing to see.
Mom and I went out to A.C. Moore in search of an American flag & a pole ourselves. Every place in town is sold out of them. We lucked out though, we found one with the flag on it with fireworks in the background which is quite beautiful. There were only 3 left when we got there. By the time we checked out of the store, they were all gone. We also had 3 bows made back at the ribbon counter... 2 red, white, and blues along with an all black one. While Mom was waiting for those, I went on a mad hunt for red, white and blue. I found fake roses, ribbon, star-shapped buttons, & flag stickers in the said colours.
When we came home, we made a memorial out on our fence with the bows we had made, the roses, and we hung the flag beside it. It felt good to do something. I'll post the pictures I took of our memorial later. Right now, I'm in the middle of making pins out of the ribbon, buttons, and sickers we got.

I did a charcoal/eraser drawing this afternoon during one of my breaks up at the PSU campus. I had been flipping through my art history book in dread of the class being next (and last!) on my 11 hour school day schedule and I spotted a drawing of a wedjat which is the eye of the Egyptian god, Horus. (Note: the one pictured on that page is slightly different than the one in my book.) I felt like doing something creative, so I set to work. Here's the finished project:

(note: clicking on the photo will take you to the directory where I've uploaded 2 large photos of this work.)
I used a charcoal stick, my sketch book, an eraser, and spray-fix so the damn charcoal didn't smudge all over the place like it tends to do for this one. When I was finished my hands were black and I had smudges of it all over my pants and my face. My shirt was black so I couldn't see it on there. I'm just really getting the hang of a lot of my media and to what lengths I can use them. I'm not a good drawer & never claimed to be one, so this little line eraser drawing thing made me happy since it came out looking like the one in the book.
You know, I'm really starting to like this whole poor art student thing, heh.

It's hard finding a balance of normalacy with all this crap lately. Personal problems, friend's problems, school work, and national tragedy are all building up together making life feel very surreal even still. It's almost like you feel guilty when something makes you smile or laugh when you KNOW there are people out there suffereing and grieving. I wish I could say that I was just going to move on, but I'm not. That would just be giving up.
I only have one class tomorrow morning which is usually fun and goes quite fast, so I consider my weekend to have already started. I talked to Stephanie tonight for the first time in about two weeks and we've made tentative plans to go out tomorrow after my class and do SOMETHING to get our minds off everything. It'll be just be wonderful to be in the presence of a good friend that I know I can count on, you know?
I have so much I want to get accomplished this weekend from studying for all my classes to making a Harry Potter website (don't ask, I have my reasons). Hah, we'll see how much I get accomplished.
What are your plans for this weekend?
