John Wurth Says: This is a list of songs that Clear Channel (who owns just about EVERY radio station in Louisville) does not want played on their stations. John Wurth Says: "The date of the attack: 9/11 - 9 1 1 = 11 September 11th is the 254th day of the year: 2 5 4 = 11. After September 11th there are 111 days left to the end of the year. 119 is the area code to Iraq/Iran. 1 1 9 = 11. Twin Towers -- standing side by side, looks like the number 11 The first plane to hit the towers was Flight 11. But ... .There's More ... ... . State of New York -- The 11 State added to the Union. New York City -- 11 Letters. Afghanistan -- 11 Letters. The Pentagon -- 11 Letters. Ramzi Yousef -- 11 Letters (convicted of orchestrating the attack on the WTC in 1993). Flight 11 -- 92 on board -- 9 2 = 11 Flight 77 -- 65 on board - 6 5 = 11." John Wurth Says: Steve Jobs announced yesterday that Apple was donating $1 million to the families of deceased emergency personnel. They are also donating an iBook to the families if they have children. John Wurth Says: Man! What a gip! David Letterman wasn't even funny last night! John Wurth Says: From AOL Instant Messenger John Wurth Says: I thought of something funny this morning...you know, that time of the morning where you're half-awake, and thinking about weird stuff? Anyway, this name popped in my head: nathan brown Says: boy... the tragedy, "America Under Fire", sure hasn't hurt the economy here in Paducah. I guess people are rushing the stores to buy American Flags and Ammunition. The Wal-Marts and O'Charlie's were totally packed, just like any other weekend. I'm not sure that people here in the Heartland know exactly how to react or what to do. I, for one, have officially stopped smoking 'CAMEL's and switched to 'American Spirit'. nathan brown Says: By the way... the strangest thing yesterday was that Jeopardy was the only regular show on our local NBC station. It was like.... NEWS, NEWS, NEWS, NEWS, NEWS, NEWS, Jeopardy, NEWS, NEWS, NEWS, NEWS. Weird, huh? I'm sure these TV Fat-Cats have some under-handed reason to slip us a little meaningless trivia. I just haven't figured out how to turn this into a conspiracy theory yet! THOSE BASTARDS!!!!! nathan brown Says: Of course there's a profit to be made when people stay tuned to whatever station they like best! Even if it is not in the short-term, a station's viewership is the MOST important aspect of their business..... Do you think they're not concerned with ratings all the time? Have you watched or listened to the news stations today? It's a fucking joke. Why do they feel compelled to continue with this 24 hour coverage of sad people? It is NO DIFFERENT than the OJ Simpson trial at this point.... they've got the public's interest, and they'll drive it into the ground. People all over the country are HOPING something else tragic will happen so this saga never has to end. It's good TV, plain and simple. I'm not saying that all news is bad, or that the networks haven't done a good job during this mess. But, It's down to the nitty gritty now. They're playing "chicken" to see who returns to regualr programming first. John Wurth Says: Actually, I don't think there's any real profit involved. Have you seen a commercial in the past 3 days? Last night, though, our local news cut in at 11pm, and they did break for commercials (3 - one PSA, one for some Ford Sales Event (I LOVE those), and one for Wendy's). It was really weird seeing commercials. I haven't had to mute the TV for 3 minutes at a time in a long time! I do think the networks are doing a good job (albeit a little bit too "tug-on-the-heart-strings"), and I'd much rather watch this than "Big Brother 2" (unless they have the Survivor people on it again, then I'd have to watch). nathan brown Says: I'd like to take the opportunity to urge everybody to stop watching the network coverage of this event right now. It has gotten to the ridiculous point where, for lack of actual "news", the reporters are going after the hundreds of crying mothers, wives and girlfriends of the victims, exploiting their suffering for television ratings.... they will say ANYTHING now, just to stay on the air with this bullshit "24 hour coverage". Eventually, they're gonna have to get some sleep and stop tugging on our heart strings. nathan brown Says: "Perhaps the hardest-hit in the wake of this tragedy were the millions of Americans forced to tune into networks such as the "WB" and "UPN" on Tuesday night to avoid the mind-numbing, redundant ramblings of major network anchor-persons such as myself." -- Tom Brokaw, NBC News nathan brown Says: Actually, that last blog was in reference to something funny I saw on TV tuesday...... One of those little "beeping" white dialogs across the bottom of the screen on NBC saying, "We are sorry. Our regular programming will be pre-empted due to breaking news". Really? NO SHIT! I just thought about the people who were really bummed out about that message.... Like they were wondering what Will & Grace were up to. Or how the folks on "The West Wing" were gonna handle this crisis. nathan brown Says: so I just heard about this crazy stuff going on in New York.... Like two days after it happened. (I don't watch much TV). Anyway, I'm outraged!!!!! Friends BETTER be on tonight or I'll be pissed! John Wurth Says: GRAND ROYAL, RIP John Wurth Says: Internet Crucial Following Attacks"At first, eBay staff took down several listings offering debris or other items purportedly from the buildings. Later, the company decided to ban even legitimate items related to the sites to eliminate the chance someone would try to profit from the tragedy, eBay spokesman Kevin Pursglove said." John Wurth Says: See me at work here. Feel free to chat with us. (or else.) John Wurth Says: Nathan and I have had this running "joke" going for years and years. We mess up names of things. It's probably not funny to anyone but me and Nathan. But dammit, I laugh every single time. John Wurth Says:
John Wurth Says: We're back up now John Wurth Says: Nah. Nevermind. John Wurth Says: Ya' know what? Screw Nathan! (sorry buddy) I might (re-read that last word) just keep Blogface going by myself...If I can find the time, that is. John Wurth Says: Gosh, it's already Jan. 3rd and we haven't posted anything since before Christmas. We suck. John Wurth Says: I guess it's snowing and Nathan can't dig his computer out of the snow. John Wurth Says: Dang, Nathan...You didn't tell me about your new site! John Wurth Says: Boy, oh boy, is it ever snowing here in Louisville! I love it! Except for the fact that people DO NOT know how to drive, They are just now starting to salt the roads (and have known about "Winter Storm 2000" since Monday), and my little crappy BMW is hard to manuever (being rear-wheel-drive and all). John Wurth Says: Fresh Hell: The Weblog is a pretty good blog. It's mainly all links, but I like it! I found out that: John Wurth Says: I just added a little thing for "outsiders" to post their thoughts on the crap we put up here. If you would like to put in your 2¢, click the link below each post. Enjoy (and don't be too rough on us). John Wurth Says: Have I mentioned that "The Onion" has funny stories? Like this one |
