<< Well, it seems that the presence of my siddur saved One Liberty Plaza,
which
is not only standing but also structurally sound -- in spite of earlier
 reports of its collapse.

As to my siddur, it has been retrieved and is safely in the hands of a
friend who will personally deliver it to me tonight in time for Rosh
 HaShannah.

Earlier, I said that I have no words to describe the catastrophe from which
I narrowly escaped. I now have no words to describe the miracle which has
 emerged from that same catastrophe.

God willing, there are more miracles to come, in the form of survivors who
 emerge from the debris.

David: I am very happy to hear that your siddur is safe and so are you.
What a story!
I have a quick one to tell you. My father, who survived death march at
the age of 14, carried with him through several concentration camps his
father's tefillin and siddur which was in a cordoroy sack. He gave it to my
15 year old son last year hoping it would bring him good luck in his life as
it did in my father's. My son has type 1 diabetes since he was a toddler so
my father felt he could use a little more luck. Anyway, it did change his
life. My son changed high schools at the last minute and now he is so happy.
The new high school is a conservative jewish school and now my son wraps his
own tefillin. He says he feels like part of his soul was asleep and has now
awakened. Not bad for a 15 year old!
Best of luck to you and your family.
   Shanah tova, Marilyn
