Thank God every morning when you get up that you have something to do that day which must be done, whether you like it or not. Being forced to work, and forced to do your best, will breed in you temperance and self-control, diligence and strength of will, cheerfulness and content, and a hundred virtues which the idle never know. ~ Charles Kingsley

Narrator: Like I said, things never turn out exactly the way you planned. Growing up happens in a heartbeat.
One day you're in diapers; the next day you're gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul.
I remember a place...a town...a house...like alot of houses... A yard like alot of other yards... On a street like alot of other streets.
And the thing is...after all these years, I still look back...with wonder.

Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours. ~ Ayn Rand

The job, the house, the furniture, the fights ... those were symptoms. The disease was growing up. And it was happening faster than I ever imagined possible. In the back of my mind I thought I might be the mythical immortal one, the true Peter Pan. I was sorely mistaken. - 'She's Having A Baby'

Well, as you can see, I have changed my web site layout for the 'God knows how many' time. I struggle with a personal web site frankly. Basically, it's great for family and friends, and I suppose if you have something unique on your web site that someone can't get easily elsewhere (information about the peruvian fire ant for example) but apart from these things, what good are they really? It really has turned into the 15 minutes of fame thing. The bottom line is if you aren't careful you can really put a lot of time into your personal web site that maybe 20 people a week will glance at. At any rate, here is my new site for whatever it's worth.

When death comes and whispers to me, "Thy days are ended," let me say to him, "I have lived in love and not in mere time." He will ask, "Will thy songs remain?" I shall say, "I know not, but this I know ... that often when I sang, I found my eternity." - Rabindranath Tagore

'...I want to beg you, as much as I can, to be patient toward all that is unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves like locked rooms or like books that are written in a very foreign language. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, TO LIVE EVERYTHING. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.'

Don't get me wrong .. I love my dog. But if she freaks out when a thunderstorm hits in the middle of the night again, and wraps her furry body around my head on my pillow and pants through the storm, it's hard telling what I may do. Sleep deprivation does crazy things to a man.

My Lava Lamp here at work isn't working right. It just heats up and I get a big ol' blob at the bottom. I can shake it up but then I get a bunch of little tiny blobs that really don't do much either. That's upsetting....
