About NYCPlaywrights

NYCPlaywrights is an informal collective of writers. The purpose of the group is to develop new work through weekly, informal, script-in-hand readings. We meet to read our works-in-progress each Wednesday from 7 - 10 at the National Shakespeare Company, 353 West 48th St., New York, NY 10036, 3rd Floor.

NYCPlaywrights is about developing new work, not about production, although we do plan eventually to do staged readings. Any playwright can attend NYCPlaywrights meetings - we don't care about your track record, but we do prefer that you be a member of the Dramatists Guild. There is no fee for readings, and currently, no formal membership, although there will be in the future.

Actors and others interested in helping read our work are cordially invited to our meetings. Many NYCPlaywrights do have productions and our meetings are a chance for actors to find opportunities for work.
