life slowly moves on, and it seems that i am shedding obligations as it does. I have fewer friends these days, i guess that is normal. Well, fewer friends that i ever call, or that ever call me. I don't think i mind, for the most part.

these days seem dark, and i can't seem to shake it, no matter what good things happen, the fact my income is so pathetic really gets me down. I do feel that my life is slowly creeping toward my goals and dreams, however the rate that everything moves is so fucking pathetically slow and painful that i don't want to look up to notice. So, it is hard to track any progress. I make efforts, try to get jobs for me and my friends to work on and make some money, but the only money that has come in so far is for the extremely long hours i spend lugging shit on production jobs.

Today a friend called with a Web site job that should pay us $5000, that made me happy for about 10 minutes. So, i dont think that this is about the money.

i'm in love, that makes me happy when i go home, but my lack of financial success is really a downer for me. I don't like freeloading. I mean i am paying rent now, and make all my other bills on time too. but i am running out of money, and i think that i may fall into dispair rather than really getting myself off the ground.

Everything isn't that bad. It is this nagging feeling that i am missing something, that life isn't what it used to be, and that i'm going about everything wrong.

Maybe i just need to take more photos, it might be the creativity that i'm missing.

Damn, i've been a bit remiss in updating the blog. So, sorry about that. I've been in the middle of lots of stuff. To sum it up, I've moved and my computer is now back online over at rich lee's pad. I'm staying with nancy over near the beach, that is wonderful, and when i'm not working on a commercial, i'm here.

Most days i couldn't be happier, I just got back from San Francisco, and last month Nancy and I went to NYC. I'll be sure to post some photos from the journeys once i get my shit together and get into a better rhythm of putting my stuff up.

4.18.2001
shout out to rich lee for getting props from zogg.com. The site is looking good.

4.4.2001
i think i've solved the problem. i erased some data from my server.

3.26.2001
this doesn't seem to be working anymore.
I am going to publish this page and hopefully that will solve whatever is fucked up with this blog...

not much to report. I'm still at work (for the time being), I'm looking around for a new gig and i've stopped the medication which I think is bringing me down a little bit.

STILL NOT WORKING!!! the content shows up at blogger in my editing tools, but when it FTPs the files they are blank?? damn.

Today i had some dental work done. so i'm sitting at home, rinsing with salt water and popping pills!

venice

Finally summer has arrived. Well i think that Spring is at least coming on strong. This is the best time of the year because its before the crowds flock to venice. Its a time that there is still parking, and therefore have some friends over to my house. Its a good time. I'm sure that bathtubgirl agrees with me. Now there is one of my neighbors that I haven't met yet.

I'm very happy these days. And, quite frankly, nothing is going to bring me down. Well at least that is how i'm trying to play it.

BTW, how can Curious George actually think that a tax cut is gonna help anyone, especially since most of my friends are wondering whether or not they will have a job next month! And, now the new laws are going to temporarily increase the number of personal and business bankruptsy filings. That can't be good for our already stumbling economy.

3.12.2001
Wow, Bush hasn't been in the white house long, and already there is a stream of stories. I just found this Bush Watch site, kinda funny, especially the photo of his daughter drunk as a skunk.

work is moving along, so far no news (is good news), well that is what they say.

The weekend? it was alright, nothing too exciting -- but i'm now trying to scrounge up cash to get a plane ticket to Hong Kong in shenmue.

west l.a.

geesh, what a day, since noone really reads this, i guess this is my best outlet for venting.
I think i need to start working on my resume! well, not like i've had this job for all that long, but content based internet sites are kinda fucked right now. well, more than kinda, really fucked. Hopefully we all find a new home. but i think that i was just told by my boss that it is a good idea to work on my resume. I'll keep my fingers crossed. fuck.

do you know of any jobs?

n. sent me a cool article on digital art. I'm still wondering if an ink jet counts as art, i'm a bit of a purist, however i do know that it brings the price of art to something affordable.

It all comes down to a nice framing anyhow i suppose. A couple online places to check out: eyestorm and artland you know. I still dont' know if i wanna spend $500 for a photo on inkjet paper.

Hey, I got Peter Pan some press!

Salon.com - Tech Inbox Is Peter Pan the next Mahir?

Randy himself emailed the person who wrote the article!!!

So, the editors there now think that I know what i'm talking about! so, if you know of anything freaky like Peter Pan, send me an email.

Did I post about the online lapdance, or the new band Gorillaz (which is the Automator's latest project).

another rainy day.
i spent a nice weekend with n, and tonight we are going to a soprano's party. I guess that should be fun, but i need to decide what to wear, i'm thinking something polyester w/ cheesy gold ropes.

eric and dina turned me on to groove salad on iTunes. There are a bunch of other cool stations too, but i'm digging g.salad right now.

over the weekend we went to see rocky horror fisherspooner show. Does Levi give money to any dorky industrial band, or just those with 20 dancing girls along for the ride? The show was alright, and definately worth the trip to downtown to see the skeleton of the new TheStandard hotel.

I have an archive. Blogger makes it automatically, however i haven't actually spent any time organizing this site, hence the basic Blogger Template. If anyone thinks that there is too much shit on this page, then send me an email. Fuck! if anyone actually reads this send me an email!!

i almost cried at work this week, just reading the posts on my old school paper's site (the link seems broken). I commend the Daily Nexus for their coverage of the tragic incident. And I think that my tears are a combination of sadness for the victims, and my fondness for Isla Vista. matt welch did a great job covering the incident too.

Listening to Red House Painters' Retrospective now, their music is sad, but also brings me fond memories of working with them at 4ad. I first heard the demos of their first EP driving down to Los Angeles from S.F. with mark kozelek in the passenger seat of my rental car. I'll cherish the memory, it was indeed the best way to hear them for the first time.

2.20.2001
Well, this is the kind of shit that i like to get in my mailbox early on a Monday morning. OK, its actually Tuesday but since yesterday was a holiday, it feels like monday. All your base are belong to us. I don't know what the fuck is up with the
wack flash
animation making its way around the net, but i guess people feel that they don't really need to bother spending much time to get their point across.

I'm not complaining, but I guess some people have more of a point to make than others.

[ I N S I D E ] FRONT

Well, i've been using blogger for a while, and just realized that there are a number of controls on this page that can save me some valuable typing time. The ability to link to a URL or make text bold, just by the click of a button, fancy shit. What I really would like is for this damn thing to save where i'm at, cause i continue to fuck up by losing everything that i've typed. I know, I know... copy it all to the clipboard. Unfortunately that caused me to lose everything the other day, since the APPLE key is not in the same location as the CTRL key on a PC.

All over LA these days there are billboards for the local modern art museum, Moca. Actually pretty interesting, i've been taking photos of them as i drive around town. I'm trying not to go out of my way, but rather capture the ones that i see as I drive, so far i think i've seen something like 25 of them. I must be in their demo.

This weekend was fun, went to the observatory the other day and say a cool planetarium show. Brought back lots of memories of growing up in L.A.

2.8.2001
i rented 'dr. T and the women' last night, and also 'snow day.' we watched dr. t, it sucked bad, real bad, what a fucking bore. Anyhow i guess we should have watched Snow Day instead, I think that chris elliot is funny, and maybe if it has some elements of cabin boy, it would be entertaining. Anyhow, the point here is that no one should have to sit though dr. t. I'm thinking that altman is an old coot who can NOT make a good movie anymore. I thought the Player and Short Cuts were awesome, but everything i've seen since has been suck.

Temptation Island is still on Tivo, and after this evening i'll also have survivor, so i've got a weekend full of reality T.V.

2.7.2001
Well, i guess that the days of Icebox and Z are numbered. Can you say single digits? So be sure to get your fill of Hard Drinkin Lincoln and Mr. Wong at Icebox. And at Z.com... uhm - well spend your time at icebox!

See, when i do a blog from work it becomes work related.
I gotta say that the Playstation 2 we got in the office is damn addicting. The only game that i've played so far is snowboarding SSX, but the hockey and football games also look pretty cool. However there is only so long I can stay in the office to dick around.

I'm supposed to rent a movie tonight for N, she's coming by with Chinese food. Though I would be happy just watching Temptation Island, this is episode 5 they are about to have one final exotic date, with the single of their CHOOSING! damn. Well, thats what i have Tivo for anyhow. And whats up with their crappy web site, you would think that they could dig up better photos and i thought that the survivor site sucked hard.

But, what should I rent? time for kozmo (who BTW now sell beer!)

Well, once again i accidentally deleted my blog, due to the bugginess of trying to type in a text input window. I just hit control-C to copy my stuff to 'back it up.' But my home system is a mac its the apple key, so i erased (and there is no 'undo').

Its easier to write a sticky first, maybe my blog can tie to that. At work today i downloaded a blog feature that lets me right-click on anything on the web to blog it - pretty cool. i gotta say the pc has come a long way, but i'm still a mac fan for the home.

anyhow what was i talking about. Just got an email from molli telling me about Greg's blog. We both had the same inspiration to start this up. i'd seen blogs and blogger.com before, but i didn't actually start it up yet.

so, i'll post some more photos today, and I wrote some notes on a sticky, i'm gonna see how that looks scanned in. probably like shit, since my handwriting is a bit sloppy ;-)

11:11 pm

And, here is a photo i recently scanned for monty to use for a mix CD cover. He told me he is using it as a background graphic - so i did it on my work system. (click and right click on image). Well i switch between that and the Romp GOW wallpaper.

The golden shower video showed up in my email a few weeks back, but I didn't know it was for a band. Pretty fucking fresh site PROJECTO GOLDEN SHOWER ONLINE. It reminds me of QuickHoney's pixel art.

I don't think that it has totally settled in that George W. is now the President of the United States. Also the email is non-stop w/ funny links related to him.

The wedding video from 1992 is classic. Also the dumb motherfucker search is making its way around the net.

venice

well, its been a while, and i'm not really very good at keeping up with the BLOG. Maybe i need to start doing it at work. I just haven't had the time.

Well, today i'm gonna scan some more photos in, and hopefully finish off the scanning of my trip to Turkey and Prague. Here are some more shots from the trip. I'm sorta getting tired of these photos, so i think that i need to take some more.

Next Saturday I'm going to the 2001 Autozone Winternationals. I want to shoot some video and photos out there. There should be a lot to choose from!

Well, hecker was over and suggested checking out milton the jizzing dog.

I just picked up my transparancy scanner from Rich, so i'll be getting back to scanning in photos from Turkey and Prague. Monty emailed me today and liked the shot from the subway in prague and wants to use it for a CD cover, so i'm gonna scan that pring for him and so in the meantime here are 2 more photos from L.A.

well

watching the lakers game now, the clippers are beating the lakers and its almost half time.

I still have a sore throat, but i dont' really feel bad, at least not as bad as i did yesterday. TheraFlu really makes me feel loopy.

I've been reviewing the video i shot at vogel's on new years eve. I guess i was a bit of a pain in the butt with the new camera, it didn't come off as being quite as fun as I had hoped. There are some good moments though, i'm still going through and capturing stuff, then i'll edit some sort of piece together.

DAMN!

i keep trying to post to this blog, in the last week, 2 posts have been lost in the upload, and just now, i accidentally hit a delete key rather than copy as I tried to prevent this same thing from happening again! Well, there isn't any reason to repeat myself, since I'm basically talking to myself either way.

I wanna start posting more photos:

istanbul

so, there is a start.

How can I love KCRW and yet hate it at the same time? Well that isn't exactly the truth. Just moments ago, i had to turn it off because Joe Frank makes me feel uneasy. I'm not exactly sure why, but its disturbing. I really enjoy Harry Shearer from 10-11 am, but I just had to turn it off since joe frank came on.

So, what did i put on instead? 6 disc changer: Badly Drawn Boy hour of bewilderment, Grandaddy sophtware slump, Boo Radleys c'mon kids, Echo and the Bunnymen songs to learn and sing and the Eels daisies of the galaxy. That stuff was in there from yesterday morning, but i think that i'm still in the same mood. And frankly i can't believe how fucking good badly drawn boy is! damn. Wild, while looking for the links above, i found 2 cds to buy. The Eels have a limited edition live album (but i can't find it on the shitty shitty dreamworks records site), and Grandaddy have a CD of early recordings (which was easy to buy from their site!) -- cool. Now i've found the live recording at the eels/artist direct site - but its too much effort to order it and its out of stock.

Speaking of music, next saturday is Mudhoney! sweet.

This weekend i've been sick, well my tonsils are swollen and i've got a sore throat. Sucks cause all i really want to do is hang out with N. And since i'm sick, i can't. Well, there is plenty of time, but honestly i get impatient. Wow, i do think of her lots these days and we talked on the phone this morning. Boy, if this works out I may actually be happy, strange but true!

12.26.2000
Day after chistmas
Rich and I are going down to San Pedro to shoot some stuff. Should be cool. I'm still hoping to complete a project with the video that I've shot the other night. Lately I've been scanning my negatives, so that I can start posting some photos on my site here.

Can someone explain big wave surfing to me? its fucking insane, how do they not drown if a wave hits them? I get knocked around like crazy right outside my home in Venice on my boogie board, with waves probably 1/10th the size. Cool photos nonetheless.

12.25.2000
evening
well, i went to Swingers for breakfast then walked around Santa Monica for a bit, took some video of bums on the ground and the kids playing that dancing game in the arcade. Then watched the Laker's game at Stephen's. What an exciting Christmas! I guess I still feel a bit run down, so that is actually being pretty productive considering.

Now, more work on Final Cut Pro, I'll figure out what i'm doing soon enough!
