I'm heading down to NY for the next 5 days. As a result the new server will be down, I'm shutting it down while I'm away since I don't have everything up and running right and I don't want some hacker taking it down while I'm gone. Plus I have had a couple of hardware issues that I think I've figured out but I'm not positive. The new box will be back up when I get back on Thursday.

Hey, I got my new server up and running, including a brand new ugly-as-sin install of Greymatter, my new fave weblog softs. Tres cool, though I still have tons of work to do. Assuming I get some hardware issues resolved the new address should be largely functional going forward, though I will keep posting here as well depending on what mood strikes me.

True or not, This cracked me up today. And no, I don't normally find someone's death amusing, but this is just too much. (and in the end, no one does die).

I keep neglecting to post about this...for like 14-15 months I've been working on a redesign of the Bowdoin College website. It's done...or at least the first pass on a public rollout is done - we pushed it live last Monday. We've got all kinds of issues to resolve, but all in all, I'm rather proud of it. You can check out the academics gateway to look over the sections I was involved in. All in all about 6000 'pages' or roughly 20,000 html files ('pages' is a misnomer in that any bit of content you're looking at is actually a composite of a number of html files, which depending on the information your looking at is either pulled together with a combination of mod_include, xml/xslt, custom java servlets, perl scripts, etc etc, the laundry list of tech we're using is impressively deep) had to be modified to effect the rollout of the new design, not to mention a ton of application logic.
Anyway, like I said, I'm rather proud. Of course this begs the question of why, if I'm so conversant with all this tech, does my personal site suck so badly ;-)
Chalk it up to a lack of time.

You've probably heard someone say something along the lines of 'you know, you can drown in only a tablespoon full of water.' I've always wondered how this could actually happen. Now I know. Poor bastard.

If you have a pc, you can download Blogbuddy, a little app which avails itself of the recently published specs for Blogger. Tres cool!

I'm testing a new little application that in theory will allow me to post quickly to my blog. The key question is, does it work?
