a number of people have mailed or sent me links to a picture of a fireman with the rubble of the WTC in the background. Yes he's cute but I can't help thinking of the hundreds of his colleagues who are still missing presumed dead. [link] from [Dan].

Oh I have a chest infection as well - It's official - I overcame my fear of doctors today and went to see my GP mainly because of my fever and sore hot chest this morning when I woke up - so much for it getting better. I now have antibiotics and painkillers so I am not afraid to breathe properly. on a brighter note I was wondering why the US Big Brother has much cuter guys than ours? oh and more nudity!

I woke up this morning thinking I had had a bad dream - unfortunately I knew it was real. Seeing the pictures this morning of the rubble that was once the World Trade Centre I just felt numb. Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund - Amazon Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund - PayPal

I think as I have been watching the news unfold that today is going to be one of those days where you are going to ba able to pinpoint where and when you heard the news. Both the towers of the WTC have now collapsed and as such the NY skyline has changed forever. I am concerned that this may just be the beginning in attacks and counter attacks. I can honestly say no news story has scared me as much [with the possible exception of the bomb at the Admiral Duncan] and I want to live outside a city.

how awful - I was just watching the news and all hell has broken loose - what is the world coming to? The Pentagon, WTC and thousands of innocent people. What is going on? fuck. I am watching from home on Sky news and CNN and BBC and all of them look the same - awful pictures of burning buildings that for all the world look like a film but you know it's real.

being at home has it's advantages - you can change the temperature and snuggle under your duvet without anyone giving you funny glances. More importantly though you can watch drivel on TV - imagine my suprise whilst watching the channel 5 news bulletin when a story about aerobic striptease came on. Yes it is an american idea. No I don't think it is meant for people out of shape. All the people in the report were already under 70 kilos and trim and toned - so why do they feel the need to take their clothes off in the middle of a gym class? Why not I guess. I know I said I wouldn't join a gym but if Streatham Leisure Centre starts offering classes I may go along - just for research you understand.

well timed delivery of My Beautiful Laundrette by mail this morning meant I didn't have to suffer daytime TV today :o) I distinctly remmeber having to watch this with the volume turned down and subtitles on when I was living at home and it was screened I think on Channel 4 when they were running a series of late night films with little red triangles in the corner. So you had a comic mix of dodgy pseudo-porn foreign films and gay themed films all mixed into the late night schedule. I was amazed by how candid the film was though - no one actually comes out and it seems almost natural that the two boys fall in love. I so wanted to move to London thinking the entire place would be that accepting. So my little trip down memory lane was fab and just what I needed today.

Oh and Rob who has a quiz to guess the queen... and I quote
"Iain tells me (which means you've been speaking to HIM more than ME you complete bitch - you are so going over my knee) that youre downloading Moulin Rouge."

who would have thought a little tiny bundle of fluff could have caused so much havoc? I stayed around at steve's a couple of weeks ago and met his adorable little kitten [must post that to ickle.org] called stella. Now stella and I got on really well - except she made me wheeze a little - which I gave no thought to at all. So anyways friday night meet steve at the airport and head on back to his - I am there for approx 5 minutes before I start to wheeze and cough - so after a little cajoling I take an ani-histamine in case I am allergic to the little bundle of fluff and all was well. Went to meet the outlaws in east london and then jacs in hacney and then back to Steves flat for the night - we ordered chinese and stuff and as the doorbell went to announce said food [completely inappropriate timing too] I start coughing again - in fact not only do I start wheezing but thought i was going to die on the floor of a flat in finchley. So we made a hasty retreat to mine in St Reatham where I managed to breathe normally again. Steve was a complete star and was patient and stuff. Unfortunately though it seems to have left a lasting impression on my lungs - which feel like they have been to hell and back. Still it mean I have quit smoking again - not that I had much choice really - I couldn't breathe as it is without adding smoke and stuff into the mix.
I hate being sick too - not a good patient :( so thanks are due to boyfs with the patience of a saint today I think

You know sometimes you feel like the world is dumping on you from a great height. Today I have decided to get some of it off my chest as it is starting to eat away inside me and I'm sure that isn't good for my karma.
A while a go a work colleague was stuck at very short notice for somewhere to stay over Christmas and New Year so I naturally offered my spare room until they got sorted [no rent or anything as this was a guy kicke out of his home] and the offer was until he found somewhere to stay.
So this was fine until he decided rather than look for somewhere to stay he would like to just rent the spare room from me. He was planning on leaving the country in June anyway so wouldn't be able to get a lease for such a short period. By this time I was kind of used to him being around so we agreed a nominal rent [after all he had just had a child and needed his cash].
All ticked along with me not charging bills or anything as I would be paying them if I lived alone anyways and I was sure the extra gas and electricity would not amount to much. Now call me a mug but when he bought himself a new £2k laptop I figured he had a loan or something or his folks had paid - as he was supposed to be broke. We did however revisit the subject of bills [especially as by this stage he had stopped contributing to groceries] and he agreed to pay towards [not half but an amount towards] the general bills in addition to his rent.
Now you may think I earn too much or something but he never contributed to the bills ever or the groceries since April and I never considered checking his rent was paying each month - what with travelling and expense claims and erratic payments into my account I just presumed he was paying. Now he moved out on Sunday and on the Friday I discovered he had not paid rent for basically the last 3 months - so now I am left feeling that you know he bought loads of cool new stuff whilst staying - new laptop, loads of new scuba gear and has now fucked off to work in the carribean leaving me out of pocket and depressed.
I keep thinking of all the things I could do with the money - like pay off credit cards or go on holiday or buy new sofa's [since I have been without sofa's since May]. I feel I should write him a mail but then think well fuck it it's not like he is going to worry about it now he is in the carribean is it? I just feel completely drained and used and abused and wonder if I will ever be as welcoming into my home again.

I think this is a bit harsh for a wednesday morning "Also a little concerned that I am going out with a guy who can sleep so
well after abondoning his little forlorn puppy - even I was concerned at
the thought of Jack sitting looking at the door, only for it never to open.
I only hope his other fathers aren't as heartless :-)"
okay so I'll admit to not seeing jack for a fortnight but I have been busy having a social life for the first time in ages ...

If I didn't know better I would think this was a joke. A republican mayor moving in with 2 gay men? It sounds like a sitcom idea! With the apartment having three bedrooms and five bathrooms there will be no fights for the shower at least ;)

The Metro today ran a small piece today saying that English people moving to the Welsh town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch are being challenged to pronounce it correctly. I think that those of us in South London should follow suit and ensure people moving to St. Reatham learn not to make it sound like Streatham.
