To comment a little on Chris's last entry. Yes, it would make me very happy to see a nice/large group of our regulars make out to the bleacher's show. Bleacher's is one of probably only a handful of music venues locally which really has a set up that is both favorable to the musician as well as the audience. Bleacher's is a good size bar with a really nice set up. Pleanty of room for the band on stage and plenty of room in front for the audience. If you like being right in the action there's lots of room in front of the stage. If you want to hang back, the area at the bar is good for both viewing the band and socializing. If you want to take a break, they have booths and t.v.'s off to the side. We do alot of our shows outside the immediate Syracuse area. Sometimes colleges, some times music venues, and other times just regular bars or special events. We are working very hard for our fans that support and follow supergush. We are trying to give you the fan more options to come out and see us in our hometown. Where could be more fun to play than in your own neighborhood - your own backyard? Our fans are the reasons why supergush has been so successful as a band in so many ways. Expect to hear and see some new material both covers and originals. The band has been hard at work!!! As always we'd like to thank our fans both new and old for all your support. Hope to see you at bleacher's on saturday. Remember we don't bite and we love talking with you guys. Be sure to say hi if you come out and an occasional e-mail or signing of the guestbook always makes us feel special. Talk to you again soon.......... Rick

Hello All - It's been a crazy week and like everyone else I've been in front of the TV for most of it. I'm not going to comment or go on about what happened in NYC, I just hope all is well with all of you. We played last night down in Ithaca to get back into the swing of things and had a good turn out. John always treats us well when we come down to O'Leary's. Joe installed a VCR in the van so we watched "Muppets in Space" on the way down and back. It really makes the time go by a lot quicker. We'll be over at Bleacher's on Saturday. Do Rick a favor and come out to support us, it would mean a lot to him. I think he is having flash backs to "BOYS NIGHT OUT" - his old band where he donned a leather vest behind the drums and not much else....In the immotral words of UTG - "H-E-L-L-O SYRACUSE"

Many people have been asking where we have been playing lately. We have been at a number of colleges and have sometimes neglected to put these on the calendar for obvious reasons. Oh yeah....Chris has been in Europe for the past two weeks also. The calendar is going to be updated very shortly and we will add the college dates. I think that it will answer at least the question as to where we are this weekend. Some interesting news as of lately.... A.J. Schultz (from Syracuse University) is working on another video concept for the new song "Stay". It promises to be another interesting endeavor as we are very happy with the Sallie Hayes project. Also Chris might have some interesting newsthat he would like to share at the next show. You will have to go if you want to find out. I believe the next dates are on Saturday August 25th, @ Keuka College, Fri. August 31st @ Cazenovia College, and then Saturday September 1st at good ole' Coleman's. Check for the available dates....and we will see you out at the shows!

Well I just got back from San Francisco and it was cool. I went to the Haight/Ashbury section to check out the music stores. It is a different world out there! Chris is leaving for Europe next week so that's why the schedule is a little thin. We have to take vacations sometimes too! In case you are wondering, we just got word that the show for Wednesday at the Caribou Club has been cancelled; it may have to do in small part that no one has ever heard or been to the club! Sorry for the inconvenience, if there are any questions please email us directly at: theband@supergush.com

Just a reminder that on Wednesday August 1st will be at the Caribou Club from 8 -12. I know that most of you may say one of two things: either you've never heard of the Caribou Club or you've heard of it but have never been there before. It's probably one of the nicest looking bars in Syracuse. Very clean and nice inside with a great stage set up. All these conditions perfect for watching a band in. Do you see where I'm coming from people??? Nice bar, nice band, nice Wednesday, nice time 8 -12. Come out and see us! Please don't make me beg..... Okay, please, please, please come out wednesday night to the Caribou Club. Anyway, should be a real fun show and with you there it will be even more funnerest. Thank you for your support.

Hey! Pompeystock was another succcess. I can't beleive the bonfire! We started the night with an authentic hayride around Pompey...Tom was the master of ceremonies and had everything under control; contrary to popular belief (the girls were nervous). However there were a few casualties on the ride -namely splinters- which Stacy's mom took care of when we got back. The Jaegermeister was flowing like water and there was plenty o' corn slobbing (for you city folk that is eating a fresh corn cob from the grill or something like that!). By every stretch of the imagination it was a great time! The second annual Pompeystock was great!

It's my very first time writing in... Just got the authority to do so. I want to take this opportunity to thank our new fans as well as those who have been around since the beginning. Your support has been a big part of the bands longevity. With two C.D.'s under our belt and over four years of playing together, we are working hard not to dissappoint our fans. The band has been puting alot of effort into learning new material both covers and originals. Look for a glimpse of what to expect on the next C.D. at upcoming shows. We're very excited about the new material and hope that you will be as well. Let us know what you think either at the shows or leave a message in the guestbook. We get quite lonely when people don't write in so be sure to drop us a line. Rick

Saratoga was a lot of fun last Saturday. We got to town early and had some time to walk around a bit. The club we played in was in the center of downtown. We spent an hour or so handing out fliers for the show but I felt like we were propositioning people from the looks they gave when we handed them "supergush tonight at the metro." I think they felt like we were asking them to a strip club for the night. Anyway - Ter and I quickly sprinted for the hotel room and claimed our beds so Joe "the snoring machine" Sauve had to sleep in the other room. Hence - A good night's sleep. Looking forward to returning when we can sing the spaces in between in August, even though it sounded good in July this time around.

Well it was a little bit cool the other night @ Bennigan's but it was a lot of fun. I didn't realize how cold it was out. I guess when you are running around under lights you get a little heated.Thanks a lot to everyone. The owner of Bennigan's was impressed. The place was rockin'. We are in Saratoga this weekend and then you have to check the rest of the schedule for the next few weeks shows.

When we last joined our fearless foursome, they were out on Seneca Falls where Papa Joe was fighting off the long arm of the law with his studded winter tires. Luckily, Rick had his racing helmet on and the police went easy on them. This past Wednesday, they were spotted in downtown Syracuse giving away hats of all shapes and sizes at Armory High for a party after the plaza show. Thanks to everyone out in supergush land, we appreciate you guys making that night a huge success and a lot of fun. Tonight we are off to Ithaca again where the music is sure to be loud and the locals are sure to get crazy...tune in next week.

Hello again. . . Thanks to all who came out this weekend to see us at the balloonfest. The weather was great and we had a great time playing outside for a change. We went on stage just before Evan and Jaron and had a chance to talk with them for a few minutes, I think I have them convinced to write a song "crazy for this guy" Inspired by their chance to meet supergush. Hope everyone had fun and put on plenty of sunblock. - - On Friday we were up in Alex Bay at The Islander. The drive home was long considering the sun was up when we got back. Scooters Pizza put out an APB for Joe who heisted a soda from their store. We are now wanted in 2 counties. See you this weekend in Seneca Falls where I hear we will be boycotted by the women's rights movement. Bring it on :-)

Well it has definitely been awhile since any of us have last posted so I thought I would get us up to speed on some things. For one, we have had a number of weddings personally to tend to so we have taken a little break. We start off next week with a more or less regular summer schedule for whatever it is worth. We have sent out post cards so for those of you that are on our list, you will be getting a little treat. If you are not on the list, then email us at theband@supergush.com to join. Please fell free to write in the journal...it gets lonely. By the way for those of you that are using aimster because Napster has been acting squirrely, our mp3's are located on that as well. I had better get to bed so I hope this more or less fills in the gaps!

Well I think we have partially recovered from the Vegas trip. We apologize for the lack of updates on the page! We were waiting to hear back from a few dates to round out the schedule and days turned into weeks! We should be posting everything really soon. We sometimes hold off in order to avoid making amendments to the page...it causes too many problems sometimes. If there are any suggestions please feel free to write in to the web log. We are also working on a few tracks recorded live from the Woodshed in Oswego. Hopefully if everything goes all right there will be a total of 4 "new" live tracks. It is looking right now like two covers and two originals-subject to change. Hopefully Napster will be around or another mp3 sharer to take full advantage! Thanks for your continued support and patience.

Our first trip into NYC went off without a hitch. Nobody was arrested which is always a plus and a lot of friends and friends of friends came out to the show on Saturday night in the village. We played a quick 40 minute set but I think everything went over really well for our first show down there. I think we are going to go back in a couple of months and invite some record labels to the show...we'll see what happens. After the show we went out with friends and had a great time wandering around Times Square after that. Our friend Mark was down there on business for the week and seemed to know everyone on each corner we hit, is that a good thing? Thanks to all who made it out. NYC ROCKS! If you have any anecdotes about the show write in to the GUESTBOOK.

We had a great time at the Landmark Theater last night. Nothing like saying that you were able to play at the Landmark! (Refer to the old gush album cover). I ran into a little trouble after the show. Let's just say that I was young and needed the money! Your past really does catch up with you! Thanks to the Syracuse Police and everyone else at the show. We had a really good time. Remember to write in to the journal with any interesting tidbits (we like tidbits....what's a tidbit???)

It was a long drive home tonight from Buffalo. We slept most of the way and let the coffee drive. Ter brought star wars trivia for the ride out and that kept us pretty busy, until we took the extended tour of downtown Buffalo looking for the club. The room we played in was set up like an old church or something. The woman behind the bar definitely was slipped something before we got there. She was tripping out with the other bartender laughing and walking around in a daze when we first arrived. I guess they have good medication in Buffalo, hopefully she is following the instructions on the bottle. We caught a couple of songs by star child before we hit the road home, it was interesting. The band was playing along with prerecorded drum loops and other samples. Next Wednesday we are at The Landmark Theatre for their weekly music series from 5-8 and then on Saturday we're in NYC at The Lion's Den.

Sorry it's been awhile, forgot the English language and was unable to type. We have been working out the kinks in a couple of the new songs "out of stride" and "stay"...they have come a long way and should be in the rotation soon. Can't wait for the shows over the next couple of weeks, we have not been out of town in a few weeks. Here's a link if you are in the surfing mode www.cnymusicandart.com by Michael Haight who reviews local music and art as you can probably gather from the name. He had some really nice things to say about the band, check it out.

We've been pretty busy getting ready to take the show on the road to other cities. It's finally starting to come together and I think over the next few months you will be able to find us in your own hometown.

Terry and Joe have been putting a lot of the live material on napster lately, search for supergush and I think you'll be surprised what turns up.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

RAAAAAND asked about the story behind "swing" in the guestbook so I will bite and elaborate a bit. I am not sure how much sense this will make typing out the story behind the song, but then again, sometimes it sounds jumbled when I talk about them at the shows too.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I remember Rick telling me about a friend who had heard one of the stories behind one of our songs at the cd release party back in April and it kind of ruined it for her. I guess that's what draws us to lyrics and music, when we can personalize them and relate. Anyway here's a stab at "swing" 3 years later, hope your own interpretations live on.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

My brother Matt and I were on a trip to San Francisco with our friend (let's call him Mark to protect his identity) back in the summer of '97 to visit old friends and family from when I lived in Lake Tahoe. We were out at a club called Cafe Dunord on Market St. where this band : Lavay Smith and the Red Hot Skillett Lickers was playing. It was one of those evenings where everything is surreal and in slow motion. We had just finished dinner when the band came on. Picture a smokey nightclub with dimly lit tables and every other person in the room is nursing a martini (probably because no one really likes the taste but they're hip to sip in a club such as this). The band kicks in and has a very old Gene Krupa big band feel, and everyone in the joint is loving it. We just happen to be sitting right in the front and we're totally soaking in the experience. With very little room in front of the stage a couple in their mid-20's clears a spot and begins to swing dance. As the night progresses, the club keeps filling in packing people in closer and closer to the stage. There is literally no room left in the club to move. The guy and girl keep on swinging without a care in the world enjoying every song more than the prevoius one. It was great to see someone this talented enjoying what they do best. The guy is throwing the woman all over the place and you could tell they have danced together before. In fact, my uncle talked with them at the end of the night and come to find out they had been together for years. There was no other place that they wanted to be that night and you could tell. Everyone in the club seemed to feed off of the 2 dancing in front of the band and was enjoying what they were doing. It felt like a celebration of life...hence the first line in the song.

Later that night I couldn't sleep back at my aunt and uncle's house and I began to write in my journal as I always do when I cannot sleep. "Swing" came out line after line as I recalled the evening and how much fun it was to be on vacation with no worries or concerns. It was one of those songs that wrote itself and felt as though there was little effort put into it. Sometimes it happens that way.

It was our first time at Tavern on the Flats in Seneca Falls and we met a lot of cool people. It was unusually warm for a gig around Christmas! I thought I would throw that in there. We are at the Haunt this weekend coming up and could use all of the support from friends and fans alike. If you feel like a road trip...well I don't think that I have to finish that statement. I always knew the drive up to Oswego felt longer than it really is. Last night I got the full experience. When we got to the show around 8pm expecting to be set up and playing by 10 I realized that I did not have my guitar and had to drive back to Syracuse to get it. Unfortunately my guitar and I have been fighting alot and he evidently snuck out of the van and back into my house when we left for the show. I found him hiding in the corner hoping that I would not see him. Don't worry, we talked it out and everything's fine. By 11:30 The Woodshed was packed from wall to wall and he was happy he made the trip up. I'm glad he came.
