the d.a.i.l.y projectMonday, November 6, 2000Today, I'm working on textile design. Why? you may wonder....Well I get to work on the next spring collection for one of New York's biggest fashion houses....and I get to drape fabrics on models all day long...(in PhotoShop @!#%*).The patterns do not map very well in PhotoShop. So I've suggested that they provide me with a Silicon Graphics WorkStation. Then I can map the pattern to a mesh object I create in SoftImage and the fabrics will look and drape perfectly. I can also simulate the way the fabric moves. Ahhhh...I can wait to get my hands on the....software. So now I'm working on a cost sheet which will give my CEO a aneurysm tomorrow morning.
Friday, October 20, 2000Worked on a new idea for the entertainment industry. Everything displayed in the movies or TV shows would be displayed and mapped to an online store, where consumers can search by celebrity, brand, movie, etc. and buy anything from clothes to cars that they have seen on TV.I've put the prototype on http://www.celebritydish.com/demo. The entertainment industry has come so far with rich content and great looking web sites. People like Elsa Klench and Joan Rivers even have reviews on what celebrities wear and how they live. However, I'm intrigued the dot com's didn't think of taking this one step further and making all those things available at online stores. I'm certain most men would love to own what Pierce Brosnan had in his 007 wardrobe. I feel this idea would take off. No matter what people say about B2C commerce...
Thursday, October 19, 2000Today, I'm working on a GPS software called MapInfo. We're trying to find a way to create an interface that will generate data dynamically and publish it to the Internet.Displays information from statistics to weather to anything you can possibly think of. They've given me loads of developer specs. So, the rest of the night will be spent sipping Starbucks and nibbling on Otis Spunkmeyer cookies.
