Ah, so I am not the only person bothered by the incorrect use of apostrophes! Check out Bob's guide!

Smog alert? What? This is Canada! We're supposed to be clean, and pollution free!

Got an email (to an OLD email address) referring to a newsgroup post I'd written a couple of years ago ... out of curiousity, I did a search to find that old post. It surprises me how many posts I used to make to the newsgroups back then! Reading my old messages, I feel so tired and jaded compared to the eager, helpful person I was back then. Sometimes I wonder if I really have changed as much as I suspect I have over the last year, and this supports that. Those posts seem to have been written by a different person ... and in a way, I guess they were!

I hope that with the change in environment, I can regain some of what I have lost ... (So hard not to wonder if what I gained in return was bought at a very high price!)

I was amazed at how many different Connecticut license plate types I observed when I lived there ... but, lo, one can get all sorts of license plate graphics in Ontario too! (The Star Trek one surprised me ... was there an outcry from the Trekkie/Trekker community to emblaze their vehicles with this image???)

Ah, after being deprived for many, many months, it's sooooooo good to have some good ICQ time again! :-)

Ah, finally, internet at home! No more paying for my internet time via a kiosk, using computers with sticky mice and broken keyboards! I can even open more than one browser window at a time! :-)

It's hard to believe that I've been back in Canada for a week now ... Spent most of the last few days in hotels, moved into the new place on Friday. It will take a little while to adjust to the new surroundings, but it's funny how some things already make Toronto seem familiar. Of course, there are still many differences between Toronto and the parts of Canada I lived in previously - for example, the grocery chains seem to be different (or differently named) here. And, of course, this is a MUCH larger city than I've ever lived in before.

More later, I'm tired, and still have emails to write ...

Flip Flop

Ah, my last full day of internet access! The movers will be loading our stuff tomorrow, and I will only be working a half day. I am WAY too dependent on having email, web, instant messaging ... Hopefully I can get "fixes" at cybercafes and Kinkos outlets until our computer gets set up in Toronto. Once again, I am wishing I had mobile internet access (via Palm, BlackBerry, cell phone) ... Yeah, yeah, I know, if I'd signed up for that kind of plan here, it probably wouldn't be valid in Canada anyhow!

So strange to think in a few days I won't be living in Connecticut anymore ... I've been looking forward to this, but it's still tough for my brain to realize this is REALLY, TRULY happening!

My suggestion? Just don't use sponges for tasks like cleaning dishes. In face, I avoid using sponges for anything except scrubbing floors, and even then, I try to disinfect the suckers and dry them out completely after each use ...

5 workdays left ...

Still getting ready for the move. Hopefully we'll know tomorrow or Tuesday when exactly our stuff will be loaded. I have a big list of stuff I have to take care of this week - setting up utilities, arranging for health insurance, etc. The whole moving thing is wreaking havoc on my emotional life - I'm on a rollercoaster, veering from excitement to terror ... anticipation to irritation! (Yeah, I'm a fun person to be around at the moment.)

Wow, I'll be moving in about a week. Going home! (It's strange to be thinking of Toronto as "home" after living most of my life in Western Canada.) I'm worried about the move, figuring out what to take with us in the car, what we need to do to make it easier for our stuff to cross the border ... but I can deal with this kind of stress. It's worth it. :-)

I think I knew on some level I'd be going home to Canada when I pretty much gave up on using Fahrenheit a couple of months ago ...
