I quit my job today.

I just couldn't put up with their shit anymore.

I'm falling behind on homework; have to start doing it now.

Is it annoying to read posts like this?

With one sentence on every other line?

Not being very descriptive?

R.I.P.

September 11th, 2001. Never forget.

I reinstalled Linux today, for schoolwork.

5 minutes later, I crashed it.

My mouse disappeared, so I tried to switch to another virtual terminal to kill the XWindows process. My screen was dotted with horizontal lines flashing, and no way to get rid of them, other than the reset button.

One of my friends called me today, sobbing, and told me that her leg gave out today (again). I'll have to go into some background information first:

She's 19 and did was a dancer since age 5 at a local dance studio. Apparently, that studio's floor has cement right underneath the thin carpet. The cement floor did a number on her joints and bones in her lower back, legs, and ankles.

Mid-last year, we hopped a little fence (~3 feet high), and when she landed, she shrieked and collapsed to the ground. She shattered her ankle and was in a cast for 3 months, followed by physio for a number of months. Then, while simply walking down stairs at another friends' house a month after she got out of physio, it shattered again. The doctors told her she could never dance again (dancing was her life, basically -- this devastated her), she had to quit her job as a lifeguard, and had to wear a cast again and put up with physio.

So today, she got out of bed and one of her legs collapsed. I don't know the specifics, I didn't want to ask her about it at this time, but the Doctors put her in this splint that keeps the entire leg perfectly straight, and said she must wear it until at least December. She had to quit her job as a Cashier and a Golf Course Marshall and now has no source of income, and she just barely has enough money to get through university this year.

She's got a boyfriend of a long time that's currently living in Utah. He was one of my better friends for 3 years while I lived here, and he was going out with this person for about 8 months before he had to move to Utah. They're still maintaining a long distance relationship and insist they will marry eachother.

So today, she called me, sobbing, and was clearly very depressed about life. She's been putting in 80 hour weeks with two full time jobs to make money to go to college, then this happened. She was completely devastated, and said she didn't want to put up with any of it anymore. I talked to her a while about how she didn't deserve it, and it's not her fault at all. She said that she doesn't want to tell her boyfriend because she doesn't see why anybody would ever want to live with someone that's constantly having the problem she's having. I fumbled my way through this trying to comfort her. I told her her boyfriend loves her and he wouldn't care that she's in a splint, she's still the same person he loves.

She's also worried that it's going to be like this for the rest of her life, and she doesn't want to live like that. The doctor's don't know what to do either.

:(
