Saturday, September 15, 2001i observed the silence yesterday. for three minutes, the nation, the whole of europe even, stopped.mixed emotions... sadness at the needless deaths, trepidation at the shape of the future, hope for better things to come, pride that in this time, at this moment, so many can stand united. as i write, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, "Ode to Joy", is playing on Radio 4. is this an omen? they say that Ode to Joy is a symbol of one man overcoming problems to triumph, and by implication it represents mankind overcoming problems and strife to find joy... maybe "Ode to Joy" should be the musical symbol of the human race in this millennium? sadly, i wonder if mankind will ever become brothers and overcome the evil inherent in ourselves? what do i know? i'm just one of the little, ordinary people... posted by Nhi Vanye i Chya on 9/15/2001 10:20:39 AM | link

i saw this posted on an email list - and somehow it seemed appropriate. *** American Tune (copyright 1973, Paul Simon) Many's the time I've been mistaken And I don't know a soul who's not been battered, And I dreamed I was dying We come on the ship they call the Mayflower *** posted by Nhi Vanye i Chya on 9/13/2001 11:30:13 PM | link
i've been closely watching developments in the US over the last few days. i don't have words to express the horror and shock i feel, even though this is a place i've never been and people i've never met. this planet has truly become small; a horrible event thousands of miles away feels like it happened in the next town or the next county. it touches all people, everywhere. America, truly you are not alone. our relatives, our countrymen, died there too... our world was rocked too. may the dead find rest; may the living find peace; may we never see this horror, this obcene loss of life again. posted by Nhi Vanye i Chya on 9/13/2001 07:51:52 PM | link
Thursday, September 06, 2001hokay, where was i? oh yeah... world going crazy...been so busy that i don't know whether i'm coming or going. hopefully things are going to calm down soon (or i'll have a breakdown - don't know which will arrive first). too many 'family things' going on, too much hassle about deadlines, too little time. work, as always, is a hell on earth. home is a refuge, a temporary and somewhat flimsy shelter. the only place left to hide and shelter is inside my mind... oh, and in sleep (despite occasional nightmares and dream discomforts). damn, i'm tired. contemplating a major redesign of the site... but time is always in short supply for such ventures. well, perhaps it'll all get better soon. posted by Nhi Vanye i Chya on 9/6/2001 06:28:38 PM | link
