I totally agree with this article: Fighting back: Ten things you can do right now.

I've been feeling a wide range of emotions. At work, I have difficulty concentrating. However, I understand that it is vitally important to keep our economy moving, and that helps me focus on my tasks. I feel anger at the people who did this. I feel compassion and sorrow for those who have lost their lives or their loved ones. I feel extreme pride for how we as a country are handling this by helping those in need and by expressing our patriotism.

My mother, whose family fled the violence amidst the Russian crushing of the Hungarian revolution in 1956, has always felt a great deal of patriotism, more than anyone else in my family. She experienced a different way of life - where buildings were bombed, food was scarce, and people were persecuted for their opinions. She and her family left all of their belongings and risked their lives to come to America, where her family could be free. She has always respected the flag and has always told us never to take for granted what a wonderful country we have. Well, after what happened this week, I completely understand. Besides the anger, sorrow, and distraction, I feel a great amount of pride to be American.
