I am still sleepless at times. I am feeling for the families of the victims. I am fearing for additional victims caught in the backlash. I want our country to address this problem at the root cause. I want us to make it so that evil cannot find people who have so little to lose they are ready to die at the behest of a madman. Wide scale bombing will hurt innocent people, and become a breeding ground for more suicidal, revenge-seeking murderers.

Right now it is pretty grim in the employment market here in Boston. Times have been good and we have grown very fat. Now web consulting, web development, and financial services are laying off people like a cat sheds in the hot weather. Now is when we find out what our co-workers are really made of- do they help by providing information, support, possibly a name for the network? Maybe they just quietly fade out and land on their feet somewhere else. Maybe they end up being more than a work friend because of what you have gone through together.

It is very very wrong to throw bombs at little children who are just going to school.

My daughter is home from 2 weeks sailing on the Spirit of Massachusetts, a 145 foot tall ship. She turned 16 at sea. Sailing provides wonderful lessons for a growing spirit. This is her 4th year sailing and she has been given many gifts. Working hard, persistence, self-reliance, reliance on ones shipmates, as well as the beauty, fragility and power of the ocean.

I'll get my chamce, too. Over Labor Day weekend I am spending a day on the Lettie G Howard.

When a person joins an organization to work on a long-term project it is a lot like going to a movie. You must suspend disbelief. It is the only way to be productive and accomplish what you know must be done. You choose to ignore the other things, the things that you may have a nagging feeling about.

This suspension is why one can feel betrayed when things don't work out. Even though you 'knew' it was a long shot. It would be a challenge, etc. You have betrayed yourself. But it is the only way. One must persevere and have faith, for there would be nothing to do, otherwise.

I am wondering what will happen with this online world we have been working to build. One thing is for sure, it will not be the same as it was 18 months ago.

twenty-five years ago my dad remarried. since then he has become distant. his mind is foggy with the nightly martinis he has consumed every evening for as long as i can remember. he forgets about his grandchildren.

this spring, years of smoking as a youth and the abuse of his body caught up with him and he almost died. his 81 year old self fought back- fought against the respirator and the congestive heart failure, the virulent staph infection he got in the CCU. he is alive.

today i was so grateful to be able to call him up and wish him a happy father's day.

I'm going to be taking a lot of photos instead of writing this summer. Check out my progress with the new digital camera here

The Lax team was defeated by Cohasset last wednesday. Thanks for a great season, Wildcats.

I am going to try my best to stay away from the media on Monday. I know he did it and he may be evil to the core, but I wish we could be better than him.
