OK, for the record, my thoughts on some things:

The election: Although I don't want him to be president, I think that W. should be named president and everyone should stop trying to recount. THEN, I think the first thing he should do is to sponsor some legislation for election reform. It's too risky to let the outcome of the election rest in the hands of the courts for several months.

Phil Hartman: His loss was a great tragedy to comedy.

DVD players: why don't I have one?

Movies: I miss seeing movies. I miss the days of seeing 4 movies a week.

Wrestling: I do not find it entertaining.

Colors: people should wear more colors

Coffee: elixir of the gods.

Target: my favorite local store to shop in

IKEA: where I would spend all your money

Not at the library for once, although I have to do some studying later. I think Chip and I are going to find some paint soon. My life in my 30s is far less interesting than I think it should be, although moving and working on schoolwork sounds a lot more interesting than it really is. Or not. Sometimes I miss having a life. But I agree with Chip that sometimes staying at homje watching tv is better than going out. At least if I stay home I won't run into ex-boyfriends.

Now I remember why I don't blog...I just have nothing interesting to say to anyone. Or about anything. I do want to get a laptop like Chip's. I really want one. Perhaps I would be far more productive if I could just pick up a lightweight, easy to use keyboard and start working, without having to plug in, boot up, blah blah blah...for ten years. I WANT A NEW COMPUTER!!! I would definitely like one from this decade. Maybe if I decided not to get an IRA and spent that money on a computer, I could afford it. I'm way too boring....

This laptop is the nicest keyboard I've ever used. I have nothing to say but the act of typing is so pleasant that I want to keep going. Mmmmm.....
Lime green paint. That's what I want. I'm going to get some.

Tired...at the library for the 3rd or 4th or 5th time this week....I can hardly remember. It's eerie glow is becoming home to me, and I hate that. My skin is becoming more and more sallow...why am I in graduate school? Somebody remind me!

I've been in Athens all week, but you wouldn't know it. I've been here in the place with the books while everyone else enjoys lattes and Buffy. When does tv start being new again?

See, this is why I don't blog - I don't do anything worth mentioning. For dinner I had a can of soup and some salad. I met with my partner for my class project. I think that group projects are a moot point in grad school. Yes, we have learned the lesson about how to work with other people, and part of that lesson is dealing with other people's schedules. But, you know, I spend 8 hours a day at work dealing with other people's schedules, and I don't really want to keep doing it when I get home (or don't get home, as the case may be). I think this is what grad school is about: they make you miserable for a number of years, and when they think you've had enough, and suffered sufficiently, they let you out. I am positively too tired to be learning anything.

OK, off to process words. I hope the rest of you are having a good time.

OK - one blog per season is enough, right? I'm currently trying to avoid filing the endless pile of paper on my desk, and this seems like a good way to do that. Plus, I haven't seen anyone in forever, so I'd like to catch up. For those of you who don't know, the 3 weeks BEFORE and after school starts are the worst for me, so I've been working like a maniac lately.

What else? Let's see - I'm SLOOOWWWWLY moving to Atlanta to live with a boy. I've been working very late every night, including Saturday. I just got a 5-year old Mac from a friend who swears I can connect to the Internet so I can be (somewhat) connected at home (tonight, I am going to try it). I have seen next to NO movies this summer, but 3 of the 5 I have seen have been this week as I try to connect with all the friends I have had no time to see all summer. I got an A in the hellish 4-week short session class I took that ended in mid-July. I went to see Siegfried and Roy in Las Vegas at the beginning of August, fulfilling a life-long dream of experiencing the cheesiest show on the planet (don't go for the magic - go to see what the cast of CATS has been up to lately). I went to Arkansas in late July to visit friends and we watched a lot of the Game Show network and got cherry lemonades. Hey, that's what you do in Arkansas, I hear. I watched the Real World New Orleans on Saturday. My goodness, my life is sure boring.....

In response to the blogs I have read:
Courtney - I like the china cabinet and table. It looks timeless to me. Owning china and displaying it in a beautiful cabinet like that will offer you instant membership into adulthood!
Chip - don't work too hard. Go home at 5. ; )
Jocelyn - I hope to see your new short hair soon. I hope you survived rush (sorry, "recruitment"). What a miserable experience that looks like from the outside.

That's all I have time for. Perhaps now that I'm not going on vacation any more, and I might leave work by 6 pm again, I will see some of you in real life.

OK, back to work. No one else seems to want to file stuff for me, so I guess I have to. Lucky me.

Damn blogger just deleted my blog!!!! No wonder I'm so behind in the blogging.

I am back from the beach. I can't seem to stop wearing flip flops. I miss drinking coffee with friends every morning, sitting on the porch overlooking the ocean. The food situation worked itself out, but since Andy doesn't want to know what we eat, I will not reveal it. I will reveal that I expect to become a supervillian with giant claws for hands. This will result from a tragic accident involving lobsters, radioactivity, and electricity, and I will feel that society has let me down because of it. I am currently recruiting my lobster posse who will help me in my plot to take over the world. If you would like to join said posse, please let me know.

One revelation: I seem to have a romance blooming, but it is still a bit secret. I will reveal more later when I know what's going on. The beach really IS romantic, but this is the first time I have learned about this firsthand.

Before the beach, I did see The The last weekend at the Roxy. I forgot how much I liked that stuff.

OK, I am currently far too dull to blog. The sun and sand have sapped all of my personality.

Here I am at Chip's, being guilted into blogging. Tonight has resulted in a great deal of homework for me. First of all, I must find someone who can make plastic things. Then, before I am allowed to take over the garden, I must finish the paint-by-numbers. Now I'm forced to blog. I've got a lot of work ahead of me.

In my quest to start the growing up process, I am about to receive a table and chairs for my apartment. At the ripe old age of 31, I am about to stop eating off of the coffee table. My roommate and I have a plan to rid ourselves of some furniture and accumulate other furniture until we have tranformed our living room into something that is not the same living room where I graduated from college. I might even paint something. My friend Wes says I am becoming a junior adult. I'm glad I'm still at junior adult.
Apparently, there will be future dinner parties at Chip's, which may also be a junior adult activity.

I leave for the beach on Sunday. My friends are already there. Sadly, my friends all live in Atlanta and have unnecessarily stressful lives. This has caused them to micromanage their every meal for the entire week. Since I don't have any idea what I'm eating for my next meal, I am grateful that they will have two days to CALM THE HELL DOWN before I arrive with my casual, relaxed Athens persona. And my bottle of gin.

Best thing I read today: on a job application for the Tate Center, under the section asking for "availability" - "I am ready for any time."

OK, Donuts have arrived. Mmmm.

Another day in NYC. I went to see Elf Power last night, which was fun. I spoke with Dan Gellar of Kindercore records, who says he's moving back to Athens. Whenever I think I might someday move away, I think of all the people I know who are moving back. Apparently, the Classic City can't be beat, not by Germany, Jacksonville, Atlanta, or even the Big Apple. Now I know.

I'm full of allergies here, but life is otherwise good. There are so many people here that it is hard to find the folks I know, so I have been doing a lot of stuff by myself. Luckily for me, none of that is unusual. At least I have Daryn to hang out with sometimes.

Well, back to the city. It's time to figure out some sort of lunch plan, which will probably consist of me walking a few blocks until I get tired and stopping at the first place in sight at that moment. Maybe I'll go shopping....

Hello from NYC. I am here conferencing, and later today I give my presentation. Naturally, I woke up with a headache (which is normal) and a stiff neck (which is not). Oh well.

Yesterday, they herded all 1100-something of us onto the NY Subway and took us on a chartered ferry to Ellis Island, where we "enjoyed" the a capella vocal stylings of a scatting student group from NYU. I never thought I would hear "scooby doo" vocalized behind the classic "Take the Money and Run" which I believe may be orignially by the Steve Miller Band, but I don't know. It was truly an experience. At Ellis Island, after having had no food for nearly 7 hours (which for me is a near medical emergency), we were "treated" to a long buffet line to get hot dogs and sauerkraut (this is grocery store hot dogs, kids, not Ball Park, not Sabretts, but likely good old Oscar Meyer), chicken nuggets (a la Tyson), chips and egg rolls (insert name brand frozen food here). Not the best meal ever.

Saturday night, my friend Daryn and I drank the night away in the hotel's revolving lounge. The view wasn't that great unless you like looking at the top of the Port Authority and the Virgin Megastore, but the irony was fabulous. The "DJ" was dreadful, and there was dancing and lights. Not for me, of course, but there was dancing. We had a fabulous time, then crashed in my swanky room, right there in the Marriott Marquis, 39th floor, overlooking what else, the Virgin Megastore (the hotel is right in Times Square, at Broadway and 45th streets). I love this conference.

Tonight, after my presentation, D and I are going to see Elf Power. Yes, here in NY, Elf Power at the famous Knitting Factory. I think I might stay here forever. Of course, I will require better food.
