What The Hell is Going On with the Music Biz?!?

Gee, and I thought I was just getting old and cranky when I realized that today's "music" sucks.

On a barely related note, while I love video games and want a Playstation 2 just as much as the next guy, if you waited outside a store all night waiting to buy one, you need to get more of a life.

    Teen Murdered in New Baltimore

I've kinda of distanced myself from the old home town since I came out to Ann Arbor back in '92, but it's still a sad state of affairs to read about this kind of thing happening in the place you grew up. Maybe only those who grew up in small towns can feel it -- this sense that the one place you knew was safe, that could insulate you from the things you read about in the paper or saw on TV, was no different that anywhere else.

It unnerves me. Will I be able to find a place to make safe for my family, my children, when that time comes? Does it matter if it's New Baltimore, Ann Arbor, or Detroit?

So on Sunday evening Gouin and I travelled down to the Magic Stick in downtown Detroit on Woodward to see the one and only Wesley Willis in concert! It was totally surreal -- Wesley took off his shirt and made us all rethink our thoughts on whether there truly is a divine being and whether He/She/It had forsaken us, there was a song called "Drink My Doberman's Piss", and the whole set was 8 songs in 26 minutes.

At the very end, Wesley tried to get off the stage, but the crowd kept yelling their favorite WW hits at him, causing him to have a hellride. "The Chcken Cow? That song has been done to death, MotherF*$%ers!" he yelled, and we left on a bit of a sad note. It makes me wonder how aware Wesley Willis is of what's happening around him. A lot of the crowd were just laughing at him, and were not real fans, but I guess that either doesn't bother Wesley none, he accepts it, or maybe he's the smartest man there, since he raked in the dough on CD and t-shirt sales.

Don't know who Wesley Willis is? You can get more info from his label's web site, Alternative Tentacles.

"The revolution would begin on the ice -- for hockey was the robots' greatest weakness."

I need to do some digging to see if ESPN has their commercials online somewhere.

All Flesh Must Be Eaten has piqued my interest. I feel the need for some mindless zombie killing action without all of the baggage that our recent games have provided, or just to switch to something along the lines of Settlers of Catan.
