    Busy lately. Here's the highlights:

  • Over the weekend Jules and I made our annual trip to the Michigan Renaissance Festival, which unfortunately is becoming more and more like 'White Trash Disneyland'. (I should trademark that phrase.) We saw Don Juan y Miguel (excellent as always) and then my lovely wife strongarmed me into buying a winter hat that makes me look like a Cossack. Maybe I'll get a picture of it soon.

  • I Gave My Cat an Enema. No, not me, some other guy. You have to love Cafepress for letting anyone with an idea and an image sell product.

Revamped original Resident Evil for Nintendo Gamecube

HOLY CRAP. I may need to get a Gamecube just on general principle. Check out the graphics, especially the manor interiors.

    Let the games go on

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Grapefruit's doing better. We give her just enough meds mixed in with wet cat food that she won't balk at it. She's less paranoid as well.

The big news today, of course, is the terrorist attack in DC and New York -- check any media sites for more info. Upon learning about it, and seeing the footage, I will admit to feeling very concerned and scared as I made my way to work. I guess we should have seen something like this coming; America is very secure in our status on the planet that we think this could never happened.

Now it has. The thing that worries me is what happens next. Obviously we need to go after who did this, but can we prevail without pushing our world towards armageddon, or moving towards living in a world where every day is filled with uncertainty?

I'm going to go home soon and hug my wife for a long, long time.

I have a cat, and her name is Grapefruit. Grapefruit has an allergy to something in our townhouse that makes her lick (itch) at spots on her belly, which become lesions after a time.

She can get shots that clear the problem up, but it's not good for her to have that more than twice or so a year. So the vet has prescribed pills for her to take to accomplish the same thing. However, she's just not having any of this pill stuff.

What Julie and I have been forced to do is capture Grapefruit and mush her pills in CatSip, then feed this into her mouth with an eyedropper. However, this has also made her totally paranoid around either of us, fearing she'll be hijacked at any moment. This is not the kind of life that I envisioned for my cat.

I can't just leave the medicated food out for her to eat, because it's more likely that the bully in the house will eat her medication before she does. So I guess the only thing left to do is to get Grapefruit good and hungry, then mix the meds in with a tiny amount of wet food. Unless anyone has any better ideas.

I haven't had much time to post anything lately because work is getting crazy with the return of students to campus, but this weekend was a sorely needed respite from the insanity here at work.

    What did I do?

Well, I got a whole bunch of home-related stuff done. I modifed a handmade shelf by knocking one plank out of it, then repainting so it would hold my books a bit easier. I filled the propane tank on our new grill and made steaks for Labor Day yesterday. I played a lot of Diablo 2 Expansion and just got started on Resident Evil: Code Veronica X for the Playstation 2 (which finally has some titles to justify the 300 bucks it cost to get). Plus it's football season again.

But now I'm back here at work, trying to help people, railing against a DSL service that we provide for fraternities and sororities (get this -- they advertise this service as being perfect for such houses, yet to use it for everyone there, they need to use it in a way that isn't supported. Thus the users are pissed and rightfully so, and they get angry at the help desk and we look bad.), taking a compliment from the odd nice caller... urgh. It'll slow down in a week or so, but right now, it's not cool. If you don't hear from me in a while, all of the above is why.

My department gives us t-shirts at the beginning of every school year to help foster good will or some crap like that. Anyways, the one I got is probably big enough to use as a bedsheet, and it's white instead of maize. Maybe a few hours in the dryer will help. For the size, anyways.
