Thinking out loud...

I didn't work on the AIR website at all yesterday, so I guess I better build it today. Brother was a gangster flick, Japanese style. Honor and loyality an extreme hard to imagine. There were no more than 8 people in the theatre. Maybe everyone else thought they'd seen enough death this week. I didn't mind because I knew it wasn't real. THAT was nice for a change. Then when I got home, Charade was coming on. Nothing wrong with a couple of hours of Audrey Hepburn.

pansyI'm getting ready to go see Brother because escape via film seems like a really good idea right now. And there's really just a bunch of crap in the theatres. Looks interesting though. We'll see. Betty hasn't lost any more weight, so I'm going to hold off on x-rays for now. She seems to feel fine. This morning I planted flowers I bought on my way home from work. Mostly pansies. They seem happy to be out of their little containers and in the ground & planters. I also picked up a teeny, tiny plecostomas to replace the mighty Ed. Well, hopefully one day he'll be as big as Ed. The turtle hasn't eaten him yet, so he's off to a good start. There is certainly plenty for him to eat in the tank.

Feeling pretty ignorant when it comes to bin Laden, Afghanistan, US policy in the Middle East, etc., I decided to do a little reading. I'm starting with Mother Jones because mainstream media hasn't really being saying anything, at least on TV.

Here's where I start to get a little grumpy. It always rubs me the wrong way when people start bombarding me with their religious beliefs. It seems like most people in this country just assumes that you are a Christian or that you even believe in god. It doesn't really occur to people that you could be any other way. Or if you are, you must be a horrible person. I want people to do what they need to do but I don't think religion should be part of public policy. I don't know. I know I'm not saying this very well. Maybe I'll try again later.

I'm still kind of in shock today. I just can't even handle the thought of people stuck in the rubble calling for help on their mobile phones. Many of those people will die there. Our radio stations are all over Atlanta collecting money for the Red Cross. You can also donate online.

I haven't really said anything intelligent about all this today. I've been busy with the sites. It's been insanity here since I work for the media. Many businesses in Atlanta have closed. I'm still having a hard time concentrating on what I'm doing.

Both towers of the World Trade Center have now collapsed. The Pentagon and the State Department have been attacked. Our air traffic has been completely shut down. No one is allowed in our air space.

It looks like there have been attacks on Washington DC too. I'm so glad I'm in the largest city in the southeast with many federal buildings.

This morning I watched a second plane crash into the World Trade Center and explode live. Witnesses are saying that people are jumping out of windows. I don't even know what to say right now. This is all so bizarre and unreal. I just keep thinking about the people trapped in the buildings.

I've always thought I was really independant and didn't need anyone. I go out of my way not to need anyone. I almost never ask for help from anyone. But lately I feel really alone. And I don't like it very much. I hate the thought that I'm not as independant as I thought I was. I'm confused about what to do right now. I'm just tired of having to be so responsible and take care of everything. Um, this post is really starting to look like at least one I've made before. So I'll stop here.

I took Betty to the vet this morning. She's been losing weight, vomiting more than usual and the last couple of days she's had diarrhea. But she's acting completely normal otherwise. The doctor palpitated a small mass in her abdomen. I'm really hoping it's a hairball that won't quite move along because I can't really stand thinking it could be something else. They're doing some blood tests, gave her sub-cutaneous fluids and a vitamin B injection. They'll have the labwork back on Monday, so we'll figure out what to do next after that. I'm going to stop thinking about it until then.

Today was filled with things Indian. I am still reading, but almost through with, a book about India. I went to Chat Patti for lunch. I may not need to eat again for a few days...And then the Taj Mahal market and bought a bunch of Indian food. For later. And some rose incense because I still have plenty of Nag Champa. Okay, so I guess that's all. But between being in the restaurant and the market I completely smell like indian spices & incense. I don't mind.
