The bloody battle in Muslim dominated Kashmir for separation from predominantly Hindu India continues. Extremist Muslim separatist groups have ordered Muslim women to adhere to a strict Islamic dress code and be veiled and covered up. They have told Hindu women to wear a bindi (coloured dot) on their foreheads and Sikh women to cover their heads with a saffron coloured cloth. This is to differentiate them from Muslim women. Muslim women who have disobeyed have had acid thrown on them or been shot in the past.
