I need a job. Argh.
Okay, so I'm watching Days of Our Lives today, and I've got a couple questions:
1. What's wrong with these people?
2. Aren't they all related by now?
Here's my critique of some of the main people:
Kate--why does this chick always sound like she just ran a marathon? Why on earth is she breathing so heavily? Chloe--yeah, I'm so sure you're 16. And those glasses sure make you ugly, uh huh, what a freak (sarcasm) Roman--learn how to act already, it's only been like 20 years The teen clones--yeah, I'm so sure you're ALL 16 Nancy and Craig--please, please, PLEASE do not talk about your sex life. that's just gross Victor--we don't want to know about your sex life either Jack and Jennifer-you guys left when the show was still cool...now the show sucks and you're back...WHY? Brady--stop YELLING already The woman who had plastic surgery to make her look like Marlena so she can become her--need I say more.
And aren't these people all related to each other? I mean, can Belle Black date Shawn Brady when Belle is half-sisters with Sami Brady, who's cousins with Shawn. Or are we to believe that Salem is a town in Arkansas?

So I still haven't played the Sims. Watch out, Mom and Dad's computer...I'm coming home this weekend and so is my game!!
Nothing interesting is going on in my life these days, except just looking for a job. If you are a news director at a tv station, or you know one, I've got a resume tape you need to see!
Outkast and Ludicrous (I know I didn't spell that right) are coming to the band shell in two days! The band shell is literally 50 feet outside my apartment door. I'm so excited (yes, I really am!) This kracker's going to be down there shakin' her really white (but strangely) ghetto booty. Ain't nobody dope as me, I'm just so fresh, so clean...
19 days until the big 2-1....hopefully you've done most of your shopping by now to avoid the rush.

I NEED to play my Sims. Please someone help me out. Like my dear sister who has a HP computer that she doesn't need that she could re-sell to her darling little sister. I'm a desperate woman!!!

Two posts in one night, this is crazy!
Everyone envy me because I'm going to Panama City for spring break. The spring break capital of the world and I'll be there. For free none the less. It is all free.
Okay okay, so I'm going home to visit the parents, who just happen to live there. But I don't have to tell people that, right? I always said when I was little that I was going to go to college up north somewhere for the sole purpose of being able to say that I was going to Panama City for spring break and everyone would be jealous.
Now when I say I'm going to Panama City, everyone says, "See ya there"

Okay, it's been a ridiculous amount of time since I last posted, and there's no way I'm ever going to catch up, so I'll just say the last month has been pretty good, and we'll leave it at that.
I got inspired to blog after reading Leia's deep reflections on her site...Well my posts aren't deep, and they don't reflect, but I've been told they're entertaining, so here's another story about my crazy life.
So Monday, I'm in this place called Maui Teriyaki, waiting for my chicken bowl. Now Maui Teriyaki has, like the worst service ever, at least whenever I order. So I called ahead so my chicken bowl would be ready when I got there, but of course, it wasn't.
Anyway, I'm standing there waiting for my chicken bowl, and there's this guy next to me talking to the girl behind the counter. I guess he was mad because other people were getting their chicken bowls before him.
Well, I don't know what the counter girl said or did, but I guess he got really mad, because he picks up his chicken bowls that were in a bag on the counter and HE THROWS THEM!!
Not just a couple of feet either. He throws them across the counter, through that little window thing (if you've ever been there, you know what I'm talking about) and into the kitchen, much to the surprise of all the cooks (it's not everyday you see chicken bowls flying around).
So I'm scared to death because I'm thinking, he's going to pull out a gun and cap my a** all because he didn't get his chicken bowl fast enough. And I'm standing right next to the guy, so after he shoots the counter girl, I'm next.
Well, there was no gun (thankfully) and the manager came out. In the end, the guy got new chicken bowls (why he wasn't kicked out, I don't know) so he had to wait TWICE as long in the end...
How random is that?? And the funniest thing is that the Maui Teriyaki is right by the Krispy Kreme where I had my weird bum encounter. What is it with that block of 13th Street?
Someone asked me later on if my life flashed before my eyes...
No. But chicken bowls did.

Hey Leia, Polly, and David, my blog readers who have discussed. Thanks for reading!

Okay, enough moping around. I'm happy again.
So let's see, where was I? Wednesday night I had jogging class. Here I am thinking that there will be a whole bunch of people like me...you know, sort of in shape, but looking to improve. Basically people looking to take a 2 credit class where all you have to do is run a little? Right?
WRONG...my class is filled with exercise fanatics and track stars. First of all, they make us do a two mile "jog" to get our feet wet. Two things are wrong with this. First of all, it was not a jog, it was a race. Second, if i wanted to get my feet wet, I'd run a mile or so.
I'm still hurting.
Thursday I was the videographer at News 5 for this week. Easy easy day. Nothing interesting. Then Lady Gator Basketball game. They are fantastic. And it's always worth it just to see Carol's Crazies dance.
Friday I slept in, then went to the find berg of Alachu"A" chasing a brush fire, one of about 10 in the county today. And by the way, the locals pronounce it Alachu"A" as in rhymes with clay or hay or sleigh. Why I have NO idea. The county is Alachua as in Alachu-uh, the city, Alachu-ay. I don't know.
I finally find the fire, and did one sort of bad live interview then came back to Gainesville. But it was sort of worth it. I won't say why, but it was (wink, wink). It's all good...IM me (CarolynG8R) and I'll tell you why it was fun--I will NOT blog. teehee
HOORAY - THE WEEKEND!!!

I will blog about my day later, but right now, I must tell a tragic tale.
My favorite jeans just ripped.
Yes, it's true. My Old Navy Boot Cut jeans just ripped in the knee as I was recording the new outgoing message on my answering machine. How this truly terrible event occurred, I don't know. I can only assume that too many repeated washings and wearings had worn these denims thin at the knees.
You know, if this were 1985, this wouldn't be a problem. So I think I'm going to start a new (old) trend. Let's all rip holes in the knees of our jeans. Come on, everyone's doing it! Then we can all get mullets...it'll be swell.
You know what this means, I will have to go donate more plasma to purchase a new pair of Old Navy boot cut jeans. Oh well, these have permanant Bourbon Street stains on them anyway. (That'll teach me to wear my favorite jeans on Bourbon Street on New Year's Eve.)
R.I.P. Old Navy Boot Cut jeans.

Two quick notes:
First: DISCUSS DISCUSS DISCUSS. If you have something to say, whether it's that you think I'm the wittiest person you've ever encountered, or the dumbest, let me know. Plus, please let me know who you are, and if I know you!
Second: thanks Leia for the Stor Trooper. That is my representation of me!

Monday...MLK Day. I should do something meaningful and important, right? Yeah, right.
Well I had to go to work this morning. I know, the news never stops and all that jargon. I should have been a banker. I would work about 10 days out of the year.
Doing the morning news means I have to get there at 5 am. Well, what better way to get going than a good sugar rush with a Krispy Kreme donut?
So I go to the Krispy Kreme. As I'm walking out the door, I'm hit up by this bum looking for money. I hand him a dollar so that he won't, like kill me or something, not that he could because there were cops at the Krispy Kreme (go figure). But then he says to me, "Well, if you had a couple dollars, that would really help more."
EXCUSE ME??? Since when have homeless people become so picky? Yeah, well you know what, a hundred dollars would help even more but I'm not going to give that to you! Hey, Mr. Homeless Man, beggars can't be choosers. I should have given him directions to the plasma center so he could make some money, but they don't let you list a shelter as your home address.
Then I slept all day. ALL DAY. Oh yeah, I bought books too.
I was Miss Productivity tonight, did dishes, garbage, and laundry. Finished my homework for tomorrow AND Wednesday, and completed my blog! I don't know what's up. I don' t know myself anymore! I've even done readings for my other classes. Somebody stop me!

Saturday I did nothing, absolutely nothing. I was going to buy books, but I didn't make it to the store in time. Oh well.
Sunday, I had to do the noon news at AM 850. What a waste of time. We were on the air for a total of 3 minutes before joining the football game at 12:15.
To try and do something productive, I decided to buy books. I visited two bookstores, and neither of them had ANY of the books I needed. Trying to kill time while waiting for Pete to get off work to go get lunch, I returned to the Alpha Plasma Center to make some more money.
I learned a valuble lesson. Never let the Jason guy hook me to the machines again. That needle-wheelding maniac showed no mercy. Either that or my arm was sore from the first time. Maybe I should switch arms.
So I made a cool $40 and was on my way. Then Pete and I went to another bookstore to get our books just in time to see them put up the closed sign. I can't win. Oh well, we went to Texas Roadhouse, and it was all okay.
Almost caught up! YAY!

Okay, let the blogging commence! On Friday I had only one class to go to, unfortunately it was at 9:35. So I stumbled out of bed, went to class, then of course, came back home and went to sleep.
Friday night I went with some friends to Alligator Rocks again. I love that place!! It was great, we sat around laughing and singing and basically having a good time.
BUT---I'm losing my mind. It's a sad fact. 20 years old, and the mind's already going. Not only did I forget one of my friend's names, there is the slight possibility that I may have worn two different black loafers.
Why do I have two pairs of black loafers in the first place, you ask? Because I'm a girl. But why do I think that I may have worn two mismatched shoes Friday night? Well there is no conclusive evidence, but Saturday, I saw the two shoes, one right and one left sitting side by side under my desk. Now, I don't remember taking the shoes off and leaving them under my desk, but it appeared as if I had. There they were, two different black shoes. Imagine my horror. Now the partner to one of the shoes was sitting just about a foot away, so there's no way to tell if I really did wear two different shoes. I really hope I didn't. Surely I would have noticed something like that.
Right???

Okay, on to Thursday. This will teach me not to blog for a week. Thursday is my day to report at News 5 for my TV 2 class. So I go in at 9 and work at the TV station all day, until 6 pm, when the newscast is over.
Well, I got, like the worst story EVER to cover for News 5. It wasn't that the story was that bad or anything, I guess. But I had to do a package on a documentary that was produced at UF and was airing on the station Friday night. So basically, I had to do some Access Hollywood type entertainment report/commercial. And I worked my butt off for it. Scrambling to get an interview, pulling my hair out trying to get video from the documentary. For an entertainment report. Third block. Right before the sports bump.
It's nice to be important.
Oh well, I must say, I got the best critique out of the three TV 2 reporters there on Thursday. Perhaps it was my lack of standup, or the fact i said about 5 words in the whole package and just let the story and the interviewees speak for themselves. It was pretty good if I do say so myself.
So then, after a stressful day, I needed El Toro, which is the best mexican restaurant that I've found around here, although it doesn't even compare to anything in Panama City. So I called up my El Toro buddy Pete and coerced him into going with me.
After dinner, I decided to rent a couple movies, Drive Me Crazy and Boys Don't Cry. Drive Me Crazy is okay as far as teeny-bopper pics go, but 10 Things I Hate About You and She's All That are so much better. Also Can't Hardly Wait is great. (I love my teeny-bopper flicks)
Boy's Don't Cry is AMAZING. Not for the fact that it's a great story (it's not, but it's a true story, and a sad one at that), but Hilary Swank is FANTASTIC. She really earned her Oscar. It's nice to see that someone can go on from Karate Kid III and Beverly Hills 90210 and actually do something besides get arrested for drunk driving (Jason Priestly and Shannen Doherty). She's come a long way from the days of dating Steve Sanders and working at the Peach Pit.
So I recommend Boy's Don't Cry, except for my parents. They would DEFINITELY not like it. And DO NOT watch it with youth, boys of any age (cause they're stupid), or elders. Basically, rent it and watch it by yourself. But DO watch it, it really makes you think.
Okay, I'm tired, gotta work in a few hours. Better take a nap. More blogging later.

Here we are at Wednesday. I go to ethics, where we read ALOUD. I didn't realize this was elementary school. I can tell this class is going to be just peachy. The teacher's an a** (see yesterday's blog), and he's missing a finger. Weird. Obviously it wasn't too difficult to add me to the class, it took all of five minutes.
So here's what I'm taking: Ethics in Telecommunication, Intro to Law Enforcement, TV News 2, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Jogging.
I know, what a rough life.
Wednesday afternoon was spent at the Alpha Plasma Center becoming a plasma donor. I tell myself it's for the benefit of the hemophiliacs and dying patients who need my life-saving plasma, but actually, it's for the money :P What can I say, I have become a plamsa wh0re. I let them use my body for cash. Oh well, it could be worse I guess. Actually it's not that bad. You get to watch movies, and it's a great place to get studying done, because it's not like you can do anything else. And despite what the parents may say, it's very safe.
And you get to hang out with all the welfare recipients and the crack addicts who sell their body fluids to support their habits. What could be better than that? (Just kidding, Mom and Dad) No, it's very safe, tons of screenings and tests to make sure you are okay before you donate, and of course, they never reuse anything.
So if you are in need of a quick buck, I recommend plasma donation. But i don't know why I'm doing it really, I don't really need the money right now. I did it the first time to help out Matt. He got extra money for being my referral. He's using me for my plasma. With friends like mine, who needs enemies?

So then there was Tuesday. Once again, I still had no classes and a hold on my record. Turns out the same people at admissions that couldn't tell the difference between a zero and the letter O had applied my payments to something I had deferred and the fees I tried to pay off the day before had not been payed. After yelling at them, the hold was removed.
After a day of scheduling, I managed to work my way up to 10 credits. (I needed 13). But no ethics. I searched for my advisor (who also happens to teach the ethics class) but once again, could not find him. Finally I go down to the telecomm office and they give me his e-mail address, so I e-mail him:
Dr. Leslie, My name is Carolyn, and I am a graduating senior in Telecom-News. I need to be in your RTV 4931 class, section 4347 that meets MWF 2nd period. I am first on the waiting list, but I cannot add the class. I will be in class tomorrow (Wednesday). Thanks.
He replys: I cannot add you to the class. It is already full. Please see your adviser for other options. Dr. Leslie
To which I reply:
Dr. Leslie, You are my adviser. I must take the class this semester to graduate. There is no other time I can take the class.
To which he responds: OK, Carolyn. Come to class tomorrow and we'll see what can be done. Dr. Leslie
Hehehe.

I must blog more often. Now I'm an entire week behind. Well to catch up, I will tell you about Monday. So here I am, first day of classes, but due to scheduling snafus, Carolyn has no schedule. Actually she has all of three credits. So Monday I spent trying to get the monumental hold removed from record so I could add classes.
After spending the morning talking to the housing office, I was finally cleared to go on to the admissions office and take care of my holds. There I encountered, perhaps, the most intellegent people I have ever met. After standing in one line for about 10 minutes, a woman wrote out all my holds on a form, then instructed me to go stand in another line.
I stood in this line and was finally waited on. Here were the real geniuses. It took 3 people 10 minutes to decide whether the figure on the form that the other woman had written was a zero or the letter "O". Granted, the woman who wrote the form was about 10 feet away, but they didn't ask her. Finally, everything got straightened out and I was free to register for classes.
Then I go to find my advisor so I can get into a class I have to take to graduate. He was nowhere to be found. So I gave up and came home to look up classes on the web. Well guess what, the school online registration site is down...ALL NIGHT. And when it finally came back up, there was ANOTHER hold on my record. WHOOPEE.
Sounds like a bad day, huh? Well, I must say the one highlight came in hanging out with my friend, Matt. It was his birthday, and as a gift, I let him hang out with me. It doesn't get any better than that. He humored me by eating my spaghetti, I hope it wasn't too bad! Oh well, he's still alive, so it's all good.
