tuesday, september 11 i never saw this coming 11:23 PM monday, september 10 i am in adventurer mode when perhaps i should be in student mode. i guess you can't travel forever. at least not for long

I actually went uptown today. For those of you who don't know, it's very rare that I travel above 14th Street. But that's because I went to the dentist today. I hate the dentist, like everyone else. I hate how they scratch at your teeth with sharp metal picks. Then when they ask you to "rinse" you spit up bloody chunks. Then when they make you take x-rays you have to bite down on a weird piece of plastic that makes you gag. Then when you're all done you look down at the bib they give you, and it's covered in bloody chunks. My teeth were totally fine too. Absolutely no cavities.
tuesday, august 21 Today was really surreal. I wound up staying up all night to buy Björk tickets. I left the house about an hour before they went on sale. When I got to the ticketmaster outlet, there was already a short line and I wound up being seventh in line. I think every hardcore Björk fan in my area turned out. I waited for nearly an hour, and they started selling tickets. I bought four tickets, the maximum amount. This cost me a ridiculous amount of money. I'm scared now. nick and I had breakfast at the Imperialist Coffee House, one of our old high school haunts. Then we met up with geoff and tried to buy him some new clothes. The weather was really weird today. It was really hot and humid, and then it started raining that misty rain, then it really started pouring, then it stopped raining. This cooled things down for a while but then things just got hot again. We tried to go to various movie theaters, but nothing was playing but really crappy movies we didn't want to see or movies one of us had seen already. We wound up just sitting in the park. Then it started to rain really hard, so we ducked back inside the movie theater. Attached to movie theater is a big hotel. The weird thing is that it was raining indoors because the hotel ceiling has these enormous vents at the top. They closed the vents eventually. The three of us wandered around the hotel, which has really strange architechture. You can see every floor from every floor, and the elevator is glass so you can see people in the elevator. We just sort of explored the place while we waited for the rain to stop. We went to the gift shop as well, and then just hung out in the lobby. There were some rappers there waiting around, and after we left geoff identified them as D12. We ate indian food for dinner and I went right to sleep after that.
monday, august 20 Tonight nick and I saw Memento Mori, as part of the Korean Film Festival at anthology. It was a good film about lesbian schoolgirls at a boarding school. It reminded me of The Virgin Suicides, only I liked this better. I also saw Attack the Gas Station! on Friday with seb. Thursday I saw Radiohead in Liberty State Park in New Jersey with geoff and his brother stu. Wednesday I saw American Pie 2 with geoff and olga.
sunday, august 19 what am i doing? 12:23 AM monday, august 13 i am in new york again. southern california was pretty fantastic. we wound up meeting more internet folks than i would have ever imagined. i met summer, ellie, esther, sven, justin, annie, ye rin & kian. i also got to run away from police, see Tricky en concert, went to a mod club, and got completely lost for 16 hours. it was a great trip! summer and ellie, thank you again for letting us crash at your houses and feeding us lots of food.
