ah, brown, land of drunken idiots and, as of last night, orgies

not that i participated in an orgy. oh no, i was watching anime all night. apparently i'm suppose to tell everyone what it's like to be taking classes at an ivy league college for seven weeks. well, the classes are great. really good. i'm learning a lot. still, classes are somewhat secondary at summer studies. what's important is clubbing, yes, clubbing.

there are three or four clubs in providence, and every one has an under eighteen night. and almost everyone here has been to one. joy.

i have an RA. his name is Sang. his activities seem to consist of sleeping, drinking, and pressuring me into playing volleyball tournaments. still, he's cool because he buys us the occasional pizza.

i have a room mate. his name is doug. he's lucky i don't strangle him while he sleeps.

there's this guy. his name is adam. he can't sing, but he does it anyway. all the time.

there's this other guy. his name is aaron. all he does is complain that he doesn't get any ass.

tonight was karaoke night. i sang (hehe) "it's not unusual" by tom jones. a girl gave me her number afterwards, but i don't like her very much, so i won't call her.

hey jeff, i blogged.

choo-choo...

i like train rides, i've decided. last night i took my third long ride on a train, and it was fun. unlike a bus, the train seats are more comfortable, and the toilette doesn't smell, and the people change more as the ride goes on. on a long bus ride we're all in it for the long haul, but on a train some will go from one end of the route to the other while others only stick around for a few stops. the people are always really interesting on the train, too. for instance, last night there was a family of italian tourists on their way to boston. on friday, i sat next to a very fat man with funky stubble who i am positive works for an international drug ring. i mean, the guy was tlaking about deliveries and equadorians on his cell phone the entire trip.

so i'm back at brown now, and it's cool, since my lit teacher didn't ask to have my journal, which is good because i don't have a journal, which is bad because my journal is 10-15% of my grade. but screw classes, i'm too busy downloading video. 20 gigs so far... i've started burning the stuff to save hard drive space.

so i was sitting in my car with jeff last night...

no, not that! we were just talking about what we'd done so far this summer. he was telling me about the trip to japan and showing me pictures and stuff, and i think i may have babbled something about my philosophy professor being canadian. his name is dave, and he dresses like i do, minus the hawai(i?)an shirts.

ANYWAY-- jeff mentioned that when in japan he'd wished that i still had a blog, because he was basically maintaining his sanity by reading everyone else's, and of course, the blogging scene just hasn't been the same since i made my exit. (right...) and i thought, "now, what if i came back? what if i started blogging again?" i wondered whether it would be fun at all. i think it would, if i could make my blog what it used to be, which was funny, instead of what it ended as, which was depressing and bad and potentially harmful to my relationships with my friends.

so here we go. an experiment. an attempt to explore my own psyche while maintaining a sense of humor. watch out, though, the random rant might still pop up every once in a while...
