Well, it looks like Spiderman has been cast, and I'd have to say, that's going to be one laid back superhero.

Gimp's Rankings of the Summer Blockbusters:
- X-Men (B+)
- Shaft (B)
- Gladiator (B-)
- The Patriot (C+)
- Me, Myself, and Irene (C)
- MI:2 (D+)
- Scary Movie (D)
Gimp still needs to see Perfect Storm, Chicken Run, and Dinosaur. Shanghai Noon would top this list, but I don't consider it a "Summer Blockbuster".

My X-Men review is a little delayed, but here it is. Solid. I had a feeling that this movie wouldn't be terrible with Bryan Singer(Usual Suspects) in charge. But I was quite impressed at the quality of the story after the pressures he endured and the cuts he had to make.
The movie had a nice flow, and didn't throw too much at the audience. Couple that with no cheesy one-liners and some respectable villains, and you get a satisfying summer movie. Gimp Grade: B+

Do you know what's really scary? The fact that Scary Movie now holds the record for the highest grossing opening weekend of any R-rated film in history. How is that possible? It took in over $40 million dollars last weekend.
Scary Movie is, overall, a crappy movie. It is a spoof of a spoof, which from the beginning sounds like a bad off-the-wall idea. However, Keenan Ivory Wayans shows flashes of great cleverness. The brightest occurs at the end of the otherwise left in the dark flick, a wonderful moment taken from one of the better flicks of the nineties. Although the original left me chill-inspired and shocked, Wayans surprises me nonetheless with his wise take-off. Instead of other ingenious bits like this, Wayans journeys too frequently into Juvenile-ville via Crude Lane. Sure, there blocks of time you'll find yourself laughing. You only hope no one sees you.
If you love spoofs, you'll probably enjoy this one. Only remember, leave your sensitive ears at home. If, on the other hand, you are not a huge fan of the sort, try to catch the preview on televsion, tape it and watch it a couple of times. Now, that's pretty funny. Jackweed Flick Tick: C
