one of the joys of rarely listening to the radio is that i've never heard a britney spears song all the way through. that's right--those maddeningly stay-stuck-in-your-head lyrics are not, well, stuck in my head. but now i have a newfound respect for our recent sung-with-aerosmith-during-the-big-game babe. why, you ask? because i just learned that britney is, in fact, an expert at semiconductor physics, edge emitting lasers and VCSELs. amazing! she (oh god here we go) did it again!

ouch! (again...) disney announced today that they're closing go.com, which means about 400 jobs could be in jeopardy. this follows the crashing failure of time-warner's pathfinder, which essentially went into the light last year. seems like old media and new media just don't mix...unless new media buy old media.

i finally got a chance to watch temptation island--an empty, trashy, soulless, no-redeeming-value example of television at its very lowest. and, god help me, i loved every damn minute of it. i can't wait until next week. you haven't lived until you've seen one of the giggly, speed-addled, sex-starved singles squeal with excitement as they leap into the arms of one of the "coupled" contestants, while their simmering mates shoot death-ray glares of pure, shimmering hatred. priceless.

can't wait for the next season of survivor to begin? don't worry--you can still get your fix. the wily contestants on survivorblog are already busy voting themselves off the, er, blog. it appears that marcus has already been booted from the competition. what's the top prize for the final survovor? sixty five....whole....dollars! yes, it's a shameless plug for a friend's web site. but hey, it's all about work, so there's that "universal appeal" element going on. .posemodern is stuffed to the gills with stories about our work, our jobs, and (god help me) our lives. there's even a voicemail feature for anyone who wants to vent about what's happening at the office.

ack! check out the new white house web site. sure, clinton's web site was nothing to crow about--those animated u.s. flags were pretty goofy--but bush's version is downright skimpy and sad. come to think of it, our new president is also skimpy and sad. bah! let's not talk about it.
