Sunday
so.... all sorts of mildly interesting things have been happening.
lately though; my uncle got married again tonight, and his wedding was the first time that side of the family has been together (entirely -- well, actually, it was minus two people: my cousin keely, and my brother who's in japan) in several years. in maybe 10 years. we all got lots of photos, as it's unlikely we'll be together again before another ten years. we were all a bunch of lushes, but it went alright.
i feel the fall in the air. it's chilly and crisp. i wasn't really looking forward to this, but i think i just have to accept it. winter is coming.

Tuesday

it's hard to beleive that it's the middle of august. i suppose i don't really want it to be. i'd like to rewind my life and still be in florida, but living in an apartment by myself and working at some fluffy mindless job close to the beach.
how often do i get what i want? i don't know. i never know what i want.

and i've stopped wandering.... kind of. not intentionally, for i still feel the wanderlust.
met a woman from atikokan (a SMALL town near here) a few days ago. she's been living in Syria teaching english for the past eleven years. she loves it. she says they're hiring and they'll hire anyone who speaks english. syria isn't all that appealing to me....
but truthfully, it's more appealing than thunder bay.

i look like i have the chicken pox from my knees down. they are flea bites. i get them from walking around my house.
my roommate just left, and i am tempted to open the front door and let the little flea-bag out. maybe he'll find a home with someone who knows how to take care of him. maybe he'll get run over by a car and be happy in doggy valhalla. maybe i'm more worried that if i let him out he would play around with other dogs and get MORE FLEAS and then sit infront of the door until chris comes home.
maybe i should put him in my car and drive him to the other side of town, and then let him out.
am i cruel?
three months ago i would have thought that was cruel. today, i am so FUCKING FED UP with being itchy all the fucking time that i wonder what the dog goes through. i wonder what kind of life he has being covered with fleas every minute of every day. it's not a good life for either of us.

Friday

once home from my job of the day (yes, i work for a temp agency) today, i grabbed the mail out of the mailbox, which in itself is an unusual occurrence since my roommate likes to do this, and i sat down on the couch to read it. an ordinarily simple and uncomplicated thing turned awry when my rear suddenly felt damp through my jeans. yes, my ass was now drenched with unidentified liquid. i sat up and looked down at the couch. there was a large round wet spot, slightly camouflaged by the pattern in the sofa. putting my face close enough to the seat of the couch to sniff revealed the liquid's origination. and since the flea-bag dog's scenting has been strictly reserved for my shoes and the garbage can, there could only be one other culprit. there is only one other creature with a bladder in the house. a creature who, just the night before went out to drink and then came home with a case of beer to polish off by himself infront of his best friend, the boob-tube. only one other creature who can make my life here a personal hell.

THIS IS MY PERSONAL HELL!!
FUCKING HELL!!!

of course, it doesn't help that when i went to talk to him about it, he completely denied it. he insisted that he sprayed the fucking couch with flea repellent.
since when does flea repellent smell like FUCKING PISS?????

i was going to go to georgia this weekend. to atlanta to visit aaron. he's feeling better now, after having broken his arm in two thousand places last month. i wanted to go visit him, and i really wanted to get out of the house. get away from here.
but when aaron called last night, i was crampy, periody and sore. i was feeling tired and grumpy, and i didn't want to do anything other than smoke weed and watch movies or read or play on the internet. that's all i wanted to do. so thinking about driving five hours in my rickety ol' barely-alive car did not have any appeal. so i cancelled.
i'm sad. because this would have been the perfect escape. the perfect way out of all this crap that oppresses me (even if it would have been just for a weekend).... but i denied it.
oh damn.

Wednesday

my mechanical bubble has only recently metamorphosed into a sauna on wheels. as the driver's side window is stuck in all-the-way-up position, little relief from fucking-hot-florida is provided. sure, i have airconditioning, but like the cheap bastard that i am, i am saving it for the TRULY arduous hot-season of jacksonville (which apparently is august and september). can i live through this? can my sauna on wheels live through this?
speaking of florida; do we have armadillos here? because although i've never seen an armadillo in person (i hear they make horrendous conversationalists), i'm quite certain that the four stiff little legs on the upturned body along the side of butler boulevard i spotted yesterday on my way home from work, belonged to an armadillo. its body looked scaley. very strange. rather sad that whoever injured this peculiar creature plowed on through, likely without even looking back to see what he/she had run over.
adam and i were talking, just this past winter when he came to visit me in duluth. we were talking about how roads seem to be a river of death for all animals that go near it. what do these animals think when they hear the roaring and rushing of mechanical monsters storming back and forth? what do they think when see that it's a big black rock that seems to go forever and ever? are they tempted to follow it? what do they think when it's perfectly silent and quiet and still one moment, and then their bodies are being smashed by fenders and crushed by goodyears the next moment?
and this river is not only the river of certain-death for insects, the river of likely-death for animals, but also the river of highly-probably-death for humans. so as we keep driving on these rivers of probable death, with the false sense of security believing that our seatbelts will magically keep us alive, what have we lost?

Wednesday

i played hookie from work last friday. i stayed in my pyjamas all day and played "the sims" on my computer. it wasn't my ideal kind of day, but it was MUCH better than going in to work. work has become an enormous place of oppression for me. i can't seem to get away from my coworker... she follows me around the office and talks about her kids and her husband and her karaoke machine and her dogs and her neighbours cats and how she did drugs when she was a teenager and her kids' friends and her kids' friends' friends and fuck i know every fucking thing about this crazy woman and i hate it! and to top it all off, i only have two or three jobs to do in the office, and they each take about 30 minutes to complete (yes, this means that for 6 aand a half hours of the day, monday through friday, i have absolutely nothing to do), and all of a sudden last week Lunatic lady decides that she's bored too, and that she's going to do one of my jobs (or actually, only half of one of my jobs). so now i have six hours and forty-five minutes of boredom a day. the ultimate of frustrations!
this tale continues as i went into work on monday to find out that my computer and folders and what little work i did was all moved up to the front desk. yes, essentially i am the receptionist. yes, i should be at the front desk. and yes, i have in the past requested several times that my computer be moved to the front so i don't have to run back and forth from the front to the back. BUT now all of a sudden my beloved internet explorer is missing from my computer, and i have no, i repeat, NO INTERNET!!!! ACK!!! ok, i don't need the internet to get my stupid work done. i am lucky i got away with playing around on the internet all day long for the past two months! i'm not surprised they took it away -- i would have done something similar (while also finding more work for the bored little peon, if i didn't fire her first -- oops, i mean lay-off). but is it not a little strange that they did this when i was away? why couldn't they wait until i came back to do it? why did it have to be done in such a sneaky manner?
so i asked lunatic-lady; "oh, i see the internet is gone from my computer. why'd you guys do that?"
"oh yeah" she says with a suspiciously "innocent" expression, "i don't know what happened. it must have been when they moved your computer. i lost my net-connection too!"
"oh really?" i say, ENTIRELY disbeleiving, and walk away. and you know what? the lunatic lied to me!!! i know this because the very FIRST second she stepped out of the office, i ran to her computer and tested it out! I FUCKING HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE FUCKING LIE TO ME, especially when there's absolutely no justification for it! what did she accomplish by lying to me??? absolutely fucking nothing! would i have been mad at her if she told me "oh yes, we got rid of your internet because we think you're abusing it"? FUCK NO! infact, i would have felt really bad,and probably would have tried to work harder (on what? god knows -- but i would have tried) to make up for my "slacking"!!!! STUPID STUPID WOMAN!!!
ALSO, her lying to me suggests that she has something to hide. maybe she was the one who deleted internet explorer from my puter? maybe she spent all day friday snooping through my history files and read some of the shit i wrote about her? i already know that she's a nosey little bitch from hearing her snoop through our other coworkers' offices when they are out. she gets to the office early everyday... and what for? i have no doubt in my mind that it's to find out everything that's going on! DAMN, i can't stand her!!!
well, anyways, i brought in a book and spend my time reading instead of playing on the computer -- not a bad tradeoff (especially when i'm getting paid 8$ an hour to do it). and oddly today, i was playing around with my computer... just kind of testing things out, and i found out that i'm still connected to the net, but i can use some weird windows programme to net-surf instead of the usual explorer browser! hehe! only now i try to hide it -- maybe this is a fluke that i'm still connected (it's dsl), or maybe whoever moved my computer (likely my BOSS, not the lunatic-wench) doesn't really care if i fart around on the net all day, so connected me back up! and maybe lunatic-lady went in afterwards and deleted the programme!
whatever the case is, i'm back online and i have something to do during the day (ooh, and in just 4 hours i have gotten SOOOOO good at telling the difference between my different coworkers' footsteps, and when they're approaching my desk and when i have to alt-tab in a flash). a problem persists, however. i don't have any respect for people who lie to me. there is no reason for it. and now i don't even want to be in the same room as lunatic-bitch, but she can't seem to understand that. and she talks to me. no, not just talks.... she continues her rampaging babble, and follows me around the office when i try to walk away from her and talks and talks and fucking talks about fucking shit that I DON'T GIVE A FUCKING DAMN SHIT ABOUT!!!!
how do i make her go away without causing a disturbance??? i don't want to get her mad at me. i don't want to be a bitch to her. i just want her to shut up and stay in her fucking office. and i want to be left to do my job (WITHOUT HER FUCKING INTERFERENCE!!!) in peace.
WHAT DO I DO???

i miss my apartment. i miss my cat. i miss having a clean house. i miss not having to worry about cockroaches or fleas in my house! i miss living by myself. i miss having a job i enjoy. i miss having more than one friend... i miss my life in minnesota! i answer.
didn't you know you were leaving all that behind when you moved?

Thursday

i've been reading this book on personalities. it talks about the masks people wear to get along with their families and mates... and it has been really enlightening. i'd like to buy almost everyone i know a copy of this book...
there are, of course, a few things (like its stance on homosexuality) that i just don't agree with... but in general, reading it has been an eye opener... it talks about people belonging to four basic categories:
the sanguine -- talkative, playful, outgoing, disorganized
the choleric -- leader, go-getter, controlling, demanding
the melancholly -- sensitive, deep, perfectionist, loner
the phlegmatic -- peaceful, friendly, laid-back, lazy
(want to read a bigot's disgusting and one-sided interpretation of these personalities?)
the book also suggests that everyone likely identifies with two personalities... but one would be the dominating.
do you know something funny? when i first took the "quiz" that's in the book, i came out Melancholly/Sanguine.and i really thought that's what i was/am. it took me to read the whole book(and do the quiz again) to see that i really have no melancholly in me (however much i'd like to), but that i just kind of assumed it... the book also suggests that people who have been hurt at a young age (like molested, for instance) tend to take on the melancholly personality for various reasons: one being an attempt to share the emotional suffering...
the book also talks about going back to the roots of our families and seeing how each family member can be their true personality, or can learn to mask it, depending on thier environment. it suggests that often choleric kids of choleric parents take on a different personality because two cholerics have such an aweful time getting along. it says that they either fight fight fight all the time, or else one submits (and takes on another personality). interesting hunh?
i think that my grandpa (mom's dad) is sanguine/choleric
and i think grandma (mom's mom) is melancholly/choleric
and howard (my mom's oldest brother) is sanguine/choleric or maybe even sanguine/phlegmatic... (hard to tell)
and my mom choleric/sanguine
and ronnie (my mom's little brother) melancholly/phlegmatic OR melancholly/choleric (BUT, he always got along with everyone right? this suggests that he's more plegmatic than choleric) (and these are just guesses)
and my dad seems to be melancholly/choleric OR
melancholly/phlematic -- but i think the phlegmatic may be a mask... to get along, and also as a bit of apathy -- to save himself the stress! the book suggests that melanchollies get stressed out very easily and frequently; particularly because "no one seems to care" as much as they do about things!
and then robin (my brother), i think may suffer from similar conflicts as me... he may have felt he needed to be one personality more than his true self. i think this because when i did the evaluation, he came out melancholly/phlegmatic... but then i think about how he was with his friends, and when he was at school... he was always getting in trouble for being the class clown! he was always a social butterfly! i think maybe he is sanguine like me,... but then i don't know what his companion personality is.
but i've come to realize that i'm sanguine/choleric.
the book also suggests that people find mates that are their opposites... or else that are the opposites of their "true" personality, not their mask.
aaron is melancholly/phlegmatic. and chris is phlegmatic/sanguine.
the book suggests that there are two personalities that are gravely conflicting... the sanguine/melancholly and the choleric/phlegmatic. it says this because the most important characteristics of each is the opposite of its companion. reading this has given me a lot of relief because i've always felt a little conflicted.
i've always felt as if i can't tell the difference between what i WANT to do, and what i feel i SHOULD do.
but i KNOW that there is a difference.

Tuesday

i think there may be several different races of humans... but it's not in terms of skin colours or geography, oh no! certainly not. i think the different races or species of humans is in terms of mental and emotional capacity. afterall, it is these two things that separates humans from animals, isn't it? what else could it be? our soul? whatever kind of idiot suggests that there are living things without souls doesn't know science or logic (see! he/she would be a different species from me) -- you can't create animal life with a bunch of chemicals and test tubes (sure, you can grow it, and adapt it with such things.... but not create). one of my favourite science fiction stories as i was growing up was theodore sturgeon's "microcosmic god". as a child i wondered about possibilities.... and this story catered to my imagination.

Monday

apparently if you don't want "your entire life published on the internet", don't talk to katrina.
apparently i can't mind my own business.
apparently people don't like to be written about, they don't like to read about themselves here... that is, except for adam.
adam loved it. adam raved about how good it was to read about my thoughts about our relationship, and my thoughts about him. what makes adam so different from the other people in my life? whatever it is, i love it.
i think several people feel that i have no respect for privacy, and with further contemplation... i see that they are right. i have no respect at all for privacy!
privacy is for guilty people. privacy is for people who have something to hide. PRIVACY IS FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE MY BEST INTEREST!!! why is that??? BECAUSE THEY WON'T TELL ME THE TRUTH!!! privacy is for people who aren't aware that we are ALL HUMAN, and we ALL make mistakes, and NO ONE can be perfect.
listen up: NO ONE IS PERFECT, AND WE ARE ALL IN THIS (THING CALLED LIFE) TOGETHER!!!
together.
not alone.
not in private.
not in our own little self-created boxes of privacy.

in creating some things we destroy others. in creating walls we destroy our connection to others.
YES, I WEAR

EVERYTHING

(MY HEART, MY SOUL, MY LIFE, MY LOVE, MY ANGST, MY PASSION, MY TEARS, MY WEAKNESSES, MY JOY, MY SNOT) ON MY SLEEVE.
this does not mean i have a big mouth.

i'm so tired. i'm so, so tired. i'm tired of it all today. tired. i was up late late late last night; crying over someone who thinks it's not right for me to write about him in here. i cried for reasons that i guess i won't mention, because he has something to hide.
why would anyone be embarrassed to be human?
i think it should be more embarrassing to be INHUMANE than human. humanity is beautiful.
guess what? i pick my nose! guess what? i masturbate! guess what? when i was a kid i used to sneak around my parents house and look for chocolates that they would hide (to keep away from ME), and when i'd find them, i'd eat them all! and then when they would ask me where the chocolate went, i would lie and say i didn't know! guess what else? i get a rash on my thighs when it's really hot out and/or when i wear skirts so i use baby-oil or perfume oil (or sometimes olive oil) on them (and it really works). guess what? i really don't like my brother. guess what? i moved in with someone when i knew we would not get along just because i wanted him to love me, i wanted to be needed, and i didn't want to be alone. guess what? if i were german and somehow working under hitler at the time of his aweful reign, i probably would have heeded his command and joined the troops who did those horrible horrible things -- not because i would have wanted to or enjoyed it, but out of fear that horrible horrible things would be done to me if i didn't do as i was told. oh that's aweful. it's aweful to admit that. i can only hope that i'd have the strength to rebel and stop the awefulness if i were involved... but seeing the way i do things now: i am aware of lots of awefulness happening as we speak, and i am reticent. there is so much i could do right now and i don't. why? guess what? i am a wimp. guess what? i worry that i keep running away from things by moving around the way i do, but i've got this bug in me -- it's something like gypsy blood, i think. i have no desire to sit still. or whenever i do, it doesn't last long at all. guess what else? i am desperately afraid of getting into a car accident... so much so, that when i am in a car when someone else is driving i feel sick, i have to close my eyes, and i try my hardest to distract myself. guess what? i really think that microwaves, cell phones and clock radios are harmful. guess what? i'm cheap.
ahh.... that feels so good! it's like vomit -- it's not good to keep it in your stomach, where it just brews and stews and makes you feel worse and worse. puke is meant to be puked up.

Friday

i've been doing the funniest thing lately...
i was given quite a bit of work to do at work lately, which is unusual -- i ordinarily have very little to do, and thus spend practically my whole day surfing the internet, writing emails, and updating/working on my diaries. WELL... when i got the large load of work to do, i set up the computer and pretend that i'm working whenever anyone is around. i've taken to being aware of who is walking around me without having to turn my head. so anytime the coast is clear, i alt-tab over to my surfing screen and goof off. when i sense motion behind/beside me or within a few feet of me, i alt-tab it over to my work screen.
i feel so sneaky...
i don't get ANY work done, and i wonder when someone will notice!

Thursday

i couldn't get out of bed this morning. i'm coming down with a cold, and my body aches all over. i wanted to stay home and play sims. i went late to work. i checked my email and found this letter from my mom:

AT last, spring weather. The snow is almost gone..... and the
tulips are coming up.... when spring comes, it come quickly....
amazing.
In regards tothe course...... I could register, send you the
packages, and then you would do the work, mail it back to me and
I would send it in..... what do you think?
Actually, I think that I would get a course outline and mail it out to
you. This lady is amazing.....she said that she has compiled alot
of information about dreams and has found interesting stuff. Like,
women who dream about fire alot have gone to the doctor and
found out that they have breast cancer. Dreams tell you about
your body's health, and interpretation can lead to wellness. She
also does one to one counselling/interpreting and hold workshops.
I think that I will go for coffee with her again and find out more info.
Dad still has nightmares every night..... I wonder what that means.
How is the job....... don't tell me that they are giving you work to do.
Phyllis was telling me about her daughter in Indonesia - she had 1
year at LU - went on the Canada Youth exchange to Phillipines and
then got a scholarship to study the Indo language in Bali ( the
scholarship means that they allowed her to gointo the country and
attend a school and they pay her $25/month while she is there.)
She is having the greatest time of her life - except when she got
sick - something similiar that Robin had but they ended operating
on her and took out part of her bowels. Anyway, she is returning to
Canada and taking the ESL - English as a second language course
which will Cerify her to teach English anyway and they guarantee
a job...... so when they have the information session at LU, I could
go and find out more, that is if you want me to......
You know, I think that you going overseas is one of the best ideas
that you have had....live a little....and see the world.....
Anyway, work calls
Luv ya
m

i'm a little torn between thinking my mother is a wierdo, and that she's pretty sweet. first and foremost, i'll take ANY support from her that i can get so.... i smiled when i read this note.

Monday

TODAY IS MONDAY APRIL TWENTY-THIRD, TWO-THOUSAND AND ONE
and i'm making some changes.
FIRST:

I HAVE LET GO OF ALL MY ANGER/RESENTMENT/FRUSTRATION REGARDING CHRIS.

yes, i still live with him until june, but i'm not going to complain about him anymore. he's an ok guy, and he's going to make his own decisions to do whatever he wants, and i'm not going to have anything to do with them. i'm letting go. i can't control him, and i don't want to. i can be his friend. he can do all the unhealthy things he wants to, and if it affects me i don't have to be his friend anymore.
SECOND:

I AM BOYCOTTING COCA-COLA.

i have never seen any company advertize as much as they do. they're brainwashing people (or trying). it makes me sick, and i don't want to have anything to do with them. so i will no longer have anything to do with coke.
and well... there's more. i think there are a lot more revelations that i've been having lately.... but i'll just start with those two today. i'm writing a book now. it seems like a stupid book to write, because it's just about my life and my thoughts (autobiography, i guess). and it seems stupid because who would want to read an autobiography of a fool like me?

Sunday

tonight i went to an AA meeting by myself. this was the second such meeting i've gone to, and i'm glad i took the time. i'm glad that i cast away misconceptions about it being for alcoholics only. afterwards, i treated myself to a movie: "the wedding planner" with jennifer lopez. the movie idea wasn't a mistake... but i think i would have enjoyed "15 minutes" more. what a horribly shallow movie (and too long for such fluff too). two things this movie gave to me: 1. the desire to move to san francisco, and 2. unbelievable lust for jennifer lopez. damn, that girl is soooooo cute and she's got a face like a roman goddess -- like a renaissance statue or painting -- she's such a beautiful creature! so... bearing in mind that infatuations are healthy (haha), and san francisco would be a beautiful place for me to move to next, tonight's solo adventure was not at all a waste of time. what's the opposite of "waste of time"? productive time?
damn, how could anyone ever feel they're wasting time? there are so many lessons to be learned... especially from our mistakes! think of all the time that would be "wasted" if we never learned from our mistakes!!! i don't think i have a time wasting complex... but i fear that i do suffer from "too many ideas that get forgotten" complex. too many times do i think of things i want to do, that i REALLY want to do, and then i forget about them. i get lazy, and i don't feel like doing them. i procrastinate them. i make excuses. maybe i don't really want to do these things then? maybe i just think i SHOULD do them?
am i the only person who feels like her mother is sitting on her shoulder telling her everything that she "should" do just like in cartoons or comics where the character has her/his conscience (which usually happens to be a miniature of oneself) sitting on one of her/his shoulder, with the devil or a demon sitting on the other? go away mom!
(nah, not really! i love ya mom! i just don't need your advice anymore! and i just don't need to think like you! and i do need to let go of your values --- they're not for me!)
