yay4Napster!!....unyay for the RIAA.....vile little corporate entity. this genesis of a movement needs a little kick. we are finally moving.. in no particular direction mind you. i have developed a fondness for boards of canada . maybe it's the way they make their loops so fluid. there all most a scary glow to it. i went to detroit's black gay pride and enjoyed myself immensely. the djs were incredible.... such talent.. it could only be detroit. in these hours.. i think best. they lend themselves to thought. what we create should be shared with others...that is human. questions are human also. it seems at times that we are here to question everything.i've been re-reading a book that i cannot get tired of: Bomb the Suburbs by William Upski Wimsatt. indeed, the ideas presented in this book are the ideas of a man, who i am proud to say, is a genius. you can check out some of the ideas presnted in this book at www.nomore prisons.net. the website is named after his second book, which is actually better...no, more focused than the first book. i could not bestow enough praise upon this book and sugest that you go and buy it.

i have had a very stupid day. people have decided that stupidity is now a national sport.the RIAA has decided to make up america's mind, itself....no more Napster. i am astonished at the fact that people have no idea that they are being fucked with no kiss. it's as though the wool has been surgically grafted to people's eyes. maybe i'm blind, and can't see the truth...we are hopeless consumers...blind to any really struggle..blind to any real life....and blind to the fact that we are blind. where are the Marcus Garvey's now? where are the poets to cry out injustice? where is LeRoi Jones and Nikki Giovanni? Sony is claiming to own something they don't: your freedom. your freedom to trade music with whomever you wish. something very bad is going to happen this afternoon.... and it's is all our fault.. ok, so i'm a big fan of therapy through writing...as i sit here in the wee hours of the afternoon, listening to "We almost lost Detroit", i'm flustered.
i feel lost, like im sitting at a place where, in 10 years from now, something very important will happen. it's thoughts like this that make me feel my age.
i grabbed the new Morcheeba album off of Napster. i'm impressed. it's the quality i expect from them. i've been dowloading alot. my 20 gig hardrive is approaching bloated very quickly. alot of Boards of Canada stuff and Ghost Dog. I find times like these the most lucid. like drowning in air. i need a job. i have too many hobbies. my home away from home closed, the Gotham City Cafe'. i feel as though a part of me has died... or like i'm waiting for a cue from some cosmic force. i truly am not a unique and beautiful snowflake. i wonder if other people feel this way. i often wonder if other people feel......at all....... Tiny’s blog
July 23, 2000
this is my first blog so you’ll have to bear with me. the focus of this blog,
the theme if you will, will be electronic music, it’s effect on my life and, what I call the “vibe” that seems to have been lost in Detroit. it will also contain a daily rant of why i hate trance. i am not alone in my hatred of trance, as I saw many people sporting “fuck trance t-shirts at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. if you have absolutely no idea what im talking about check out DEMF site for a more concise update, as it was, in my opinion, one of the most legendary things i have ever witnessed. a chance to show Detroit and the world what electronic music was all about, once and for all. if you missed the groove, check out Groovetech for achieves whole damn thing.
now many people ask why i hate trance so very much. trance is, put simply, offensive. it insults my ears and my sense of rhythm. i find it so predictable that it is uninteresting; perhaps in the way one gets tired of seeing the same curtains in their living room. I have heard from others that trance is the gateway to electronic music. as much as that truly frightens me, i am not at all surprised by the notion. i was raised on cornflakes and beat breaks. i’ll never forget hearing Kraftwerk’s Tour de’ France for the first time on the radio. i was confused and delighted. confused, because there were no “organic” instruments” and delighted, because it was completely new to me. this was in Detroit’s electronic heydey , with the Music Institute being “the place to be. alas, the Music Institute is no more, but in it’s place is the incredible
somewhere in Detroit , one of the coolest record stores in existence.
but I digress.
