wrote an entry yesterday on my friend's audaciously beautiful mac computer, but somehow the mac is not compatible with blogger extensions so the message got lost in cyberspace. visited the office of project eyeball which houses uncountable numbers of macs, some with extravagantly large monitors and beautiful mice and all the flourishes that can make a computer so delectable. i think that i have been given a strange gift in life- whoever i meet and begin to feel happy with and decide that i could possibly spend almost all my time with them, will indubitably find a loved one within a month of my meeting them. it's good news for all the singles out there searching for a partner, but it's hardly uplifting for me.

went to help a friend with his independent film yesterday, it was strange that he was using his hand as a stand in for a girls', and so the supposedly female hand in the shot was about 3/2 times bigger than the male hand, which certainly looked a little funny. can't wait to see the final result though, the rest of the film is more well planned. asked a friend to go to a lecturer's office to collect a promised course outline only to find that it was a trap. instead of being given the notes, she got a stern suggestion that this "friend" she was collecting the stuff for go drop this module because the apparently essential first lecture had already passed.

the first day of the new year: i get the feeling i'm moving up in life because for once i'm not mournful or depressed, and instead of scrawling on a notepad i happen to be blogging. all else is still the same, despite warnings that the end is near; everythings going on smooth as usual. for the first time in ... ever, i did not watch the countdown. i suppose it helps make you feel like the new year isn't really here, like if you never attend a funeral or see a coffin you might not completely realize a death.

i have fallen sick. it's the usual cold/flu bug, nothing major, but it sure feels terrible to be sick. i started the day off strangely; i dressed up in lawyer garb (jacket, office pants, no frills black shoes) and trooped off to the Supreme Court to do research for the dot.com i'm working part time for. being an arts major and having no experience looking up anything serious in a very intimidating library let alone a law library which contains journals talking about things in a language i don't really understand, i felt rather out of place and looked it too. so i couldn't really find the statute i was looking for, and instead found various pages on things i which suspected had something to do with the topic. of course i didn't know each photocopied page would cost 30 cents, and ended up paying $48.98 (including tax) for things i'm still not even sure are relevant. today was my last day of work though, so they couldn't fire me or anything. i went back to the office and sat in the 3rd floor with my friends who also work there part time and tried to hide from the boss for most of the rest of the day. it's rather a pity that we had to leave, the firm's quite nice to work for, and hanging out with my friends with a spattering of activities provided made it feel like a camp/chalet more than work most of the time. anyhow, we said a heart-wrenching goodbye to our beautiful Fujitsu Lifebooks and the 138 Napster songs we downloaded over the weeks; we even had a funeral march with the laptop in my arms. speaking of my sickness, the others working with me are sick too; we have the same symptoms. makes me quite tickld to think every sneeze i sneeze has a twin or tiplet or quadruplet somewhere else because of the same family of bugs.

I recently became a blogger. Let me start us off on this rambling trail; i'm very hot at the moment because i live in a tropical sauna and i'm wearing many layers of clothes so as to show off my heritage on this cultureligiously-important holiday to the various guests who seek my parents on their annual visiting day. other than that, all is well. it's actually a beautiful day and i would love to be alone at home rather than with loud guests about, but it would be bratty and immature to tell them to get out or to sulk. at the moment they cannot see my face; they must think me very studious typing so fast during school break.

most of the relatives due for visiting have already left, and so now it's just bits of my family staying at home. my uncle whom i have never seen nor spoken to in my life (because he lives in England and can't visit for personal reasons) just called to say hello to my mum, who is now beaming. my mum spoke in Urdu to my uncle's wife, and this is rather interesting because she's British and has never lived elsewhere her whole life. anyway it was nice talking to them, i have no idea what they look like but they sound like a nice couple. unfortunately they do not have email and may not have a PC so we can't use the web to bridge the distance. nevermind; as terrible a thing it is to say i suppose if they lived in singapore there would be a very big chance that it wouldn't be interesting anymore, they'd be like the rest of my relatives who i pay no attention to.
