Since the domain's been registered and I don't have to worry about someone stealing it from me, I've decided to post the URL for the beta layout of Rich & Creamy. My beta testers have been an incredible help in getting this thing going. It's still somewhat in development, but you definately get a good idea of how things will look.

The beta can be found at http://www.desoto.k12.mo.us/blog/.

See something you really like? Something you really don't like? Something else you want to see? Open a channel & let me know ;-)

The wheels of change are finally in motion!

I've decided to take broken's suggestion and host my website on phpwebhosting.com. I get a host of great services for only $9.95 a month. I would've gone with Dreamhost at Andy's suggestion, but PHP just seemed to offer more bang for the buck.

I registered the domain name through itsyourdomain.com. (Thanks to Tim for that suggestion).

Assuming everything works on schedule, by tomorrow night you'll be able to access the new layout of Rich & Creamy through it's new URL of http://www.richmissey.com/journal/. I'll have a post here redirecting users there. I don't think the URL is functional just yet.

Cross your fingers!

I'm gonna go NUTS!

I've got the new layout ready to go, I'm going to put it under a new domain name. Problem is, I can't find a service to do what I want! I have a server. I have web server software. I have the IP address of the server. I just need to map the IP address that I have to a newly registered domain (I haven't registered it yet) and have that domain point to my IP address.

But no one offers anything that simple that I can see! Everyone wants to do web hosting or mail forwarding or URL parking or URL forwarding or some other such shit.

Does anyone know of a service where I can just pay them to register my domain name to my IP address and stick it into the global DNS system?

hehe - Brad has some interesting thoughts on relationships.

BTW, Brad, who's to say that handcuffs are a bad thing? *angelic grin*

I am so going to get blasted for this one...

There are very few times in my life when things have gotten so bad that I have contemplated taking my own life. Most of my freshman year can be lumped into this category for a variety of reasons, but that was typical teen angst adequately quietened by a good cry and a hug from a loved one.

Tonight, that was nowhere to be found.

To put it mildly, I have sunk my relationship with my father to an all-time low. I'm quite certain he hates who I've become and is disappointed that I didn't turn out like he wanted me to. On top of that he hates gays.

Several times tonight, as I looked at my present situation, the thought of "it would be so much easier if it would all just end already" came through my mind more than once. But each time it did, a certain instinct kicked in - that instinct that I have that puts the needs, wants, desires, and emotions of others far ahead of mine. Sure, I could use something as simple as a BB gun to end it now. Just get up from the computer, go into the bedroom, pump it up, aim at the temple and pull the trigger.

Simple enough.

But what about my family? Coworkers? The few close friends I've acquired? That selfish act would devistate many members of my family. I'm not saying that to be condescending or full of myself - I just know my family. We're a very tight bunch. Many of my coworkers I consider part of my extended family. I have several teachers that I call "Mom" because they're so close to me. And while some of my friends would grieve for a short time, I know that my passing would impact others a considerably more. One example: I could never do anything that would harm Elizabeth. She means far too much to me.

Some people would be angry with me for being so selfish. That doesn't bother me as much. But the grief definately does.

Why am I sending all this out to be viewed by hundreds of people, very few of which I will ever in my life meet? I dunno. It helps me a little bit to just see my feelings on the screen. And I have to draw some hope from the idea that someone out there may be in a time where they're thinking, "God, will it all just end already," and this will make them realize, "Hey, there are people that this would really hurt."

Of course not everyone has the drive that I have to protect the feelings of those around me. To do whatever I can to make life a little easier for someone else. Is that a bad thing? An uncommon thing? One thing that I've learned is that people can usually only tolerate my presence for a short time. After that time (and I'm talking over a period of weeks/months/etc) I become old really fast. I'm eventually looked upon as annoying, bothersome, someone to be tolerated. All I can do is enjoy the friendships while they last, try to figure out where I've gone wrong in others, try not to make the same mistakes and pray that someone will tell me when I'm making those mistakes. I hate losing friends. When I'm down, I don't feel the need to talk about my problems usually. I just like to be around people that make me feel good.

As far as my father goes... things will never be the same. I'm a disappointment. I'm used to it. Time will tell what effects tonight has on my relationship with the rest of the family. Thank God that my generation is tolerant and open minded.

I could never be a tow-truck driver. Rescuing idiot queers who put their mostly fiberglass cars in four foot square holes (leaving one tire buried and another a foot off the ground) after having a fight with their homophobic father at 1 am is NOT my idea of a good life.

But I guess it pays well enough.

Joining the infamous "I like dick" quote from Justin, I'm going to have a clip from "Bring it On!"

"Wait: You speak fag?"
"Oh, fluently."

And from a man as hot as that! DAMN! BTW - what IS that boy's name so I can do a pic search? ;-)

At dear Elizabeth's suggestion, here's a question of the day:

Should the United States Congress expand investigations into the actions of former President Bill Clinton or should they, as President George W. Bush insists, just "move on" to new business?

Well, now that I can FINALLY get into Blogger to post something...

As Terrence noted, Brian - a best friend - called yesterday asking me to bring him to the hospital. The short of the story is that I got a call this morning from Brian, who had been admitted for the night, that the doctors had decided to remove his appendix. Now that it's out, he's getting back to his old self. Hopefully they'll send him home tomorrow morning.

Everybody wish him a speedy recovery ;-)
