Tuesday, July 25, 2000geeeezus. has it really been almost two weeks since I've last blogged? Well, to be fair, those two weeks have been a doozy. It's been so hot, for starters, that I've kept my PC off at home, and spent most of my time stretched out in front of the TV and a fan on high. And, let's not forget a big of monsoonal moisture, now. Just enought to fire some thunderstorms, without rain of course, which in turn started some forest fires. A few of them that required meteorological dispatch... which left me with some overtime. And then the moisture increased, and the thunderstorms started raining, and then hailing, and then blowing like... well you know. Which left me with even MORE overtime. Did I say it's been hot? 95+ for forever, and no A/C. *grumble grumble*
Wednesday, July 12, 2000whoohoo! I did it! I got my forms to QueryUnload (albeit without the standard query). And now my assignment is finished, and I get to move on to the next unit. All hail Internet classes! (and thank the lord for quiet weather and a deep-pocket training budget)
QueryUnload just plain sucks. Does the code go with the main form, or with the child form? If it goes with the child form, how do you figure out which child form you're trying to Unload, and how in the hell do you get it to close? Grrr.
well alright! I've got a brand-spankin' new 19-glorious-inch monitor on my desk at work. Now I can work on the office homepage, my visual basic class, and whatever other project I'm working on at the time, all at once, without squinting! yee haw! now if I can only figure out how to open and close new child forms in an MDI VB app... grrr.
Sunday, July 9, 2000I hate cleaning. I love procrastinating. Anybody wanna help do a mid-summer spring cleaning? :)
Saturday, July 8, 2000yee-friggin hah. I finally have a day off, on a weekend, no less, and what do I do? waste it by sleeping in... really really late. (Yeah, it's after 2pm, and I pretty much just got up, showered, and took some vitamins for b-fast.) I guess it's ok though, kinda, 'cuz see I didn't go to bed until WAY after 4 am or so. So, anyway... just about half my day is gone, there goes the million and 2 projects I really had designs on doing, but can't seem to get motivated to get them even started, and this really helped.
Thursday, July 6, 2000ack. credit cards. I hate the little plastic satans. And here comes another one. Grrr.
Monday, July 3, 2000oh yeah... one more post before it's getting on nitety-night time. Happy Independence Day to all my fellow Americans. May your grills burn hot, may your evening skies be clear, and may Old Glory fly forever true. Just remember... if you're drinking, play smart and hand your car keys over to someone sober.
Doing the domain name dance, which of course, I learned a little too late. All my good choices are taken. That's ok, that's not the thing that really pisses me off. What really pisses me off, is that there is absolutely NO CONTENT at the web site under said domain names. This has happened to me half a dozen times. All you domain name squatters (especially those with the domain names I'm lookin' at - which I thought were kinda creative, but apparently not that creative since somebody already owns them)... shit or get off the damn pot. If you're thinking you're going to make money off these domain names, you're screwed in the head.
Surfing around, I found a design that pretty well knocked me to the floor. Not sure why, the color? the overall flow? Can't put my finger on it, but check it out.
About 4 years ago, I lent a CD to an old boyfriend... unfortunately when I moved away (and we broke up), I never did get that CD back. Well, I finally got it replaced today (yeah, I know, 4 years to replace a CD is just sad). On my way in to work this afternoon, I listened to my favorite song on that CD over and over and over again, and a whole buncha memories just came flooding back. Some good, some not so good. "Did you see anything?" "No, the lights were off." To my old friend... Welcome to the Machine.
Sunday, July 2, 2000Went and saw a double-feature at the drive-in last night with my hubby... The Perfect Storm and Mission: Impossible -2. Both were OK movies. I got into Perfect Storm a bit more, 'cuz it was weather related, heh. Would I recommend them to others? Yeah, I guess I would. Perfect Storm did a lot of character-type development. Not real deep stuff, but enough to get somebody interested in the fate of the character... M:I-2 was just an all out action movie. (They did some motorcycle stunts that I didn't know were possible.) There were some twists and turns, but they were semi-predictable... I wouldn't call it Tom Cruise's best roll (personally, I think it was "Color of Money", but I play pool, heh.), but it was good enough...
