Life isn't made up of a series of finish lines.
Trying to be first at the 'finish line' of our goals isn't living. Life is the journey. Living to the fullest grants us first prize in everything we may do. - Starfruit Wednesday, July 25, 2001
NOW I KNOW WHERE THEY GET THE IDEAS FOR MOVIES OF THE WEEK
It turns out that my penninsula neighbourhood and neighbours aren't as tawdry as I once imagined. Well, maybe tawdry isn't the right description...let's just say I have 'issues'. Either way, with all the gossip and obvious need to remain private because of the Dynasty-like going's on around here, it turns out that not even THAT compares to the following. Published in last month's Vanity Fair, I read an article that was at the same time uncomfortable to read yet impossible to put down. I'm sure most of us can relate to the effects 'gossip' can have on a neighbourhood, however, after reading this unbiased account of the facts, I HOPE this is an example of it in the 'extreme'. For the unbiased accounting of the story, read last month's Vanity Fair article. In this article it describes the facts that turned an upscale community, upside down. The parties damaged by gossipy-allegations have created a web site to document the facts, and publish their own 'truths' about events. It's an interesting read, both the Vanity Fair article and the resulting web site that developed from the controversy. Here is the 'biased' accounting of the story from the 'injured' party, complete with (unbiased) court documents, and testimony, as well as the letter that started it all! Note: Since several US newspapers published this story, the web site has received over 12,000 hits/day, some from as far away as London. The owner of the site has created a message board where hundreds of posts of both support and ridicule can now be viewed. |
