I just read in the SF Chronicle
"An eerie image of an exploding World Trade Center was pulled this week as the cover art for a forthcoming CD by the radical Oakland hip-hoppers the Coup. The group's label, 75 Ark, recalled the image from the printer Tuesday, the day of the World Trade center disaster.
Raymond "Boots" Riley, the leader of the decade-old anti-capitalist rap group, said yesterday that the meaning of the fictional image had been changed by real-life events. "We made the cover to be a metaphor, with the World Trade Center towers standing for capitalism. The music is making them blow up.
"The album cover before Tuesday had humor in it. After Tuesday, it didn't."

More personal accounts on WorldNewYork.org and an updates page on the events in the country.
I have had a constant headache since Tuesday's events and I just feel drained. I can't even imagine how people in New York and Washington D.C. must feel. and all the people who had loved one in the buildings and on those flights.
But watching those news crews sticking microphones in their faces, asking them "how they feel?"
Now that's just cruel.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMY!!

No bomb threats in my building today, but I guess they have been happening all over the country. Here is an account in San Francisco:
mindecision.com
which is the only one I found before the Blogger search section needed to be tweaked. There are a few of them out there. somewhere

Unreal. I have been watching CNN since I got home and it is so hard to get involved emotionally the way they are covering it. It is just graphics, flashing headlines, news anchors, etc. It's just panic, chaos, lives have been turned upside down, and no one knows why.
The whole country is in a state of shock and fear.
I'm also checking out news sites to keep updated.
I just turned to BBC to get a different perspective and they were showing footage of survivors from the World Trade Center telling their tales and covered in blood. They also showed tape from the second building and people waving from the windows right before the building collapsed. This is the craziest and worst event I have witnessed. I can't even imagine what will happen next.

I am just sitting at work waiting to go home. What a way to wake up in the morning.
The TV is constantly on in the apartment and it was like waking up to some horrible movie preview. The alarm went off and I'm hitting snooze until I see what is going on in the news. We were pretty much paralyzed, shocked and stunned until 8 when we figured that it was time to go to work.
I got to work and sat with everyone else just watching the chaos on TV.
All of downtown San Francisco is pretty much shut down even Pier 39 is closed. Authorities say to avoid crossing the bridge but I can see a few trucks going across and there are a few people wandering around Ghirardelli Square. but not much.
I don't even know what to think right now.

There was nothing too Sexy about that Beast! He was like one of those cartoon villains that would not die! Creepy.
I missed the MTV awards last night, but they will play it over and over and over again.
But aren't they just adorable?

I think I'm going to check out Sexy Beast tonight with Minoo. Looks pretty cool, it's shot in Spain and London.
Looking through Adweek today and saw an article for alllooksame.com. It has a tongue-in-cheek aptitude test on the national origin of 12 different Asians. I don't think I would do very well myself. I'll try it tomorrow. It's time to go watch a movie.
While you are at it, go check out angrylittleasiangirl

more fun weekend stuff
I finally saw America's Sweethearts with Davey and The Anniversary Party with Donna. Both at the lovely little Balboa theatre a few blocks up from the apartment.
Always Double Features!
America's Sweethearts was sappy but funny. John Cusack is adorable even if he's quite strange. Why is Catherine playing all these b*tchy roles??
The Anniversary Party was real, very amusing at times, flows just like you were at a party. not much of a story though. more of a play on characters but should still be checked out.

we did a quick trip to Sausalito. The waterfront was spectacular and the weather was pleasant, but I was going through a bout of PMDD and couldn't enjoy myself.
I hate when that happens.
BUT we have already made an appointment next Saturday for a sauna and a full hour body massage to ease our poor muscles and so we can both be pampered at the same time!

I leave for Tokyo in 15 days!!!

horseback riding
been talking about it for months and finally did it on Sunday.
you know how you never really know what to expect of something until you actually experience it? Someone can tell you all about it in hopes of preparing you for the moment, BUT it never does.
I saw the horses through the windshield when we pulled up the drive.
Do I really want to do this??? Sure, it'll be no problem.
as I almost fall over on the guy trying to help me up on my horse...
They all knew it was my first time so I got a reliable, slow horsey.
I rode him around in circles for a little bit, to get used to how he moves. Davey watching me from his horse making sure I'm doing ok and having fun. Sweetie.
Then we rode down the hills to the beach. My horse was waaaay behind all the other ones, until I figured out how to make him go faster.
So incredible!! The view going down and watching other horses run on the beach was amazing! even if it was a little foggy.
And then we hit the beach...and all the other horses took off running!
up and down. up and down. up and down. ouch! slow down, horsey!
Now how coud this be fun? I finally catch up to Davey, after running and slowing down every so often, and he tells me to stand up in the stirrups a little bit so I don't bounce so much. Thanks, Davey!
Once I got used to how the horse moves, I was running along with the best of them. Kind of...but I got the hang of it.
I'm still a little sore. But it is definitely something that I will do again.
