As an aside, I got a chance to read "The Pearly Gates of Cyberspace" by Margaret Wertheim. Interesting book...the Knights should read it.

"It only takes a single generation to revert to savagery."
Neil Stephenson
Crytonomicon, 1999
And this is succinctly why I believe that, in an age of ever broadening access to technology and information....in a time when more and more computers are being put in front of kids...in a time when we as a single world are finally beginning to connect....it is IMPERITIVE that someone stands up and does more than simply demand that we use this awesome power for the good of humanity rather than just for the good of a few humans. Hence...the Knights Technica.

Part 1 of a series that identifies the Internet as the New Jerusalem. Given the objectives of the Knights Technica, I'm thinking that the book that this is based on should become required reading.

It was the dawn of the third age of mankind, the Y2K crisis was comming to an end. The Knights Technica were a dream given form. Its goal, to prevent another war by creating a place where humans and geeks could work out their differences peacefully. It's a home away from home for diplomats, hustlers, entrepreneurs, and wanderers. Humans and geeks wrapped in two million, five hundred thousand lines of spinning code, all alone in the night. It can be a dangerous place, but it's our last best hope for peace. This is the story of the Kinghts Technica. The year is 1999. The name of the place is Knights Technica.
