i think
this is a great article, from a new zeland website, listed on metafilter as "take a deep breath, angry patriots ..." i know i'm not the only person who thinks we shouldn't go to war, but more people seem to be getting caught up in the idea that it's the only thing we can do. even at work lately all we've been airing on the news is rhetoric and propaganda, views of flag waving and
renewed patriotism. yes, the events that occured were horrible, but we feel like we have some manifest destiny to attend to, and rallying behind bush's inept rationalizations for declaring war on terrorists and anyone who harbors them.
"It served to support the dangerous fantasy that America has worn a white hat for the past five decades. The Americans now calling for their country to get dirty have missed the fact that their country has played dirty for a very long time. ...the American people's profound ignorance of their own government's foreign policy bodes ill."
there's a momentum that is building here. things are going to make less and less sense as we progerss in this direction. we have a president who is looking for any reason he can to go to war. to prove he is a real-live president, not just the son of a second-hand regan.
sorry... i think i'm just venting from working too many extra shifts
