"A classic, just-big-enough "college town", Ann Arbor, too, is known for its "great downtown restaurants and bars, and very diverse culture." U of M is also a "sports heaven", so athletics can play a big part in undergraduate life if students are so inclined."

one has to wonder if the people who compiled this top ten list have ever even been to ann arbor... it certainly isn't home to the best college campus in the state.

(while teddy has been on my shit list for a while now, i do thank him for making the 2000 NCAA championship basketball game the most dramatic in MY lifetime... a year and a half later though, it's about time kharma had it's way with him. heh!)

ATTENTION:

this is a desperate plea to my dear, wonderful, magnificent friends out there. my new job has me driving around 45+ minutes to work... (and right back again after work) at least 4 days a week. that sucks. it's better though when you have good music to listen to. unfortunately the radio stations down here cannot be counted on... especially around the lunch hour. and as some of you know, my cd collection is... very very very bad.

here is where you come in:

pretty pretty pretty please make me a 'driving to work' mix tape or cd. i'm begging you! i know you all (the four of you who care) have different music tastes... (and some of you just prefer random south park soundbytes)... that's cool. there's nothing wrong with that... but i digress. throw together something entertaining and pop it in the mail. k? if you don't have my florida address, e-mail me and i'll hook it up. and just think, if you're the 'frugal' type and i just happen to be visiting you next week... you could totally save money on postage by just handing me a tape when you pick me up at the airport... (oh, i've said to much.) as for the rest of you... anyone who sends me some audio entertainment will get something stephie-style in return. (if you're thinking toys, you're probably thinking right...)

i'd like to take this time to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart... and if you guys don't help me out i'll be forced to fill the silence in my car with my own sobbing. you don't want that, eh?

today i was 40 minutes late for my first day at my new job. go me. it wasn't my fault though. there was a horrific accident at the end of my street which required 4 ambulances, 2 helicopters and the top of a mini van to be peeled back like a sardine can. my manager was very understanding.

i was stressed as hell at work. now, i AM a KB toys rockstar and i know how to do my job... however, i don't know my way around that store, let alone the mall, or the city, etc. i was left alone on the sales floor for like 4 hours to fend for myself and it was challenging... but nice to flex my retail muscles again. in the end i came out victorious... and i can't wait to dig in to the Barbie section tomorrow... god, does that store need my merchandising genius.

also, before i left for work i talked to the powers that be at the university of iowa. i didn't get the answers i wanted to hear... but it's cool. all i have to do is sell my creatively re-worked plan to my sugar daddy (aka, my dad... duh) then maybe we'll be in business... who knows.

tuesday, september 4

bookstores make me sad. pensive. introspective. they are like a vast sea of ideas, brilliant ideas. beautiful colors and words and images. each book represents someone's dream, someone's passion, someone's hard work... an accomplishment. on each shelf there are thousands of stories, characters... carefully crafted and all infinitely more interesting than i find myself. every face on every cover mocks me and how little i have done. how little i am. i feel overwhelmed surrounded by shelf after shelf of that which i will never be... because i defeat myself before i even try.

i'm just guessing, but it probably isn't a good thing if you go shopping and the laundry detergent looks about as appetizing as any of the food.

ah, the man i love to hate. seven months from now he'll be telling you how all along he knew the spartans were headed straight for the top again.

sure state has lost a heck of a lot of key players and i give the other big ten teams a lot of credit... but 19th in the country dickie v? 4th in the big ten? my boys wouldn't give you the satisfaction. (smirk)
