Whoa! Looooong time no update. I've been out of town and marginally out of my mind working up in monmouth, IL, leaving poor Tom and Gail to handle stuff at the cafe. More updates as soon as I can educate them about how to Blog this thing. Meanwhile please check Nightlife or Flipside for upcoming events at the Cat.

Thanks

Hey, this is shaping up to be a pretty good weekend at the Cat. On Friday we have a First Fridays art opening by the ART CHICKS, a show called A Weave of Women. I just finished help hang the show last night, and its one of the best we've done at the Fat Cat. The reception starts at seven PM with refreshments and music by jazz guitarist Ron Hasaker.

Then Saturday its our first ever MUNGOFEST, a full afternoon and evening of music, with Curt Wilson, Phantom Lymb, Don Haupt Jr., Mr. So and So, and many many others, maybe including YOU as there are two open mike periods and a full open jam session at 10PM. So come spend saturday with us !!!!

You know, one nice thing about coffeehouses in weather like this is you can take your pick: If its blazing hot, go for the Mocha Milkshake, if its rainy and cool, go for the large cappucino. Either way, we gotcha covered:)

This weekend at the cat, we've got Evil Beaver on Friday and Loose Gravel on Saturday, both really fun bands, both on at nine PM. Hope to see you here.

Hey,
Hope all you cats survived graduation weekend. Now that the place is quieted down, stop in for a cool drink and some hot music this weekend. On Friday we've got the return of Call US What You Will. These guys really surprised me when they first played here. It's a great mixture of musical styles from jazz to environmental music to folk, played on keyboards and guitar. Then on Saturday the 19th, its the return of SHADE. Hey, have you tried our new mocha milkshakes?

Hey, another wild week at the cat. Wednesday is, of course, Beltane for all you Pagans out there. It's also First Wednesday which means its our monthly BLUEGRASS JAM at the Cat. If you've missed this in the past, we've had as many as forty players all jamming at once, and there are some incredible players in this area, so be there this time! The fun starts around eight thirty and often continues into the wee hours.

Then on Friday, its First Friday, and the monthly art crawl is bringing us a new art opening by fiber artist Joann Johnson. The show is called The Body Project Revisited, and there'll be food and entertainment by jazz guitarist Ron Hasaker at the opening, so plan to attend. The opening starts at seven.

Then on Saturday (whew), its the return of SIWADE! The Southern Illinois West African Drum Ensemble is always a wild evening (last time people were dancing on the tables) and a great time. The drumming starts at nine. Get in early to get a good spot.

Boy am I glad spring is finally here. See you at the Cat!

Warmer days seem here....FINALLY!......I've never been so glad for a winter to be over. The Cat is celebrating with a new line of Ice Cream Coffee Drinks. Try an espresso milkshake or mocha on a hot afternoon. This weekend at the cat, we've got the sounds of SHADE on friday night at nine. Then on Saturday, Sonja Nikolova and company are bringing us an evening of classical guitar, beginning around eight.

So stay tuned. Oh, hey, here's a tease: In June we're planning our own music festival, the first annual MUNGFEST!!!
