MAS is dead on. One of the first things I thought about regarding our ability as a nation to fight led me to think of all of the young adults who should be able to enlist and fight if needed, but would be turned away because they are too fat. I can only hope that this event may have helped people get their heads out of their asses about a number of things, not just obesity. It is interesting to hear people wake up from the P.C. bullshit and actually start talking sense, even if it hurts feelings. It was interesting to see an overcrowded gym full of people even though the Arnold Classic wasn't going on. Today I saw many, many runners outside. Many of the people I saw I had seen before -- many were new faces. Were they preparing their bodies for action? Were they relieving stress over the situation? Or maybe they had finally woken up to the fact that although they live in the land of freedom, they had been enslaving themselves to their bags of Dorito's, their ice cream and other fast food snacks. I'll admit it -- though I often take time to get outside to enjoy my surroundings, it felt extra special today. It was very cold and windy and normally, I might have waited for a more opportune day to get a good run in. Today, it felt more like an opportunity to train under adverse conditions. It was a great run.  BookMark This Link

It is sadly starting to seem that finger pointing is beginning in lieue of solving the problem. I hear people yelling at Bush for calling the terrorists 'folks', people condemning all religion as being the cause of this act which was perpetrated by evil. People are blaming this person and then the next for allowing this act to happen, or for issuing the wrong statement at the wrong time, not pronouncing words perfectly -- whatever. Well, it happened, and we need to deal with it. Finger pointing comes later. But all of us whiners should be happy that even after this event, we can still write about it in our blogs, we are still getting news coverage, still receiving mail, still able to drive our cars, still able to go to work and still with food and power.

Many suggest that we deserve this kind of action, that we shouldn't be surprised that people might be jealous -- and no, we shouldn't be surprised people want to topple the guy on top. No, we shouldn't be surprised, but we shouldn't accept it either.   BookMark This Link

I agree with Lura that today's terrorist events shouldn't come as a total surprise. However, I must admit that I never believed that such an event would be so drastic or seemingly so well coordinated. I have nothing more to say.  BookMark This Link

Be the first on your block to own a Marilyn Manson Action Figure. I am not sure which classification would be more confusing:'Childhood Toy' or 'Adult Toy'.   BookMark This Link

One of the most annoying phrases to enter the American vernacular has to be, "My bad" as a way of saying, "That was my fault, I apologize". The first time I ever heard it was while playing basketball in high school. It was slightly annoying then, but it made sense as a quick way of acknowledging to teammates that you had screwed up the play of game. Somehow, the phrase has worked its way into everyday conversation to non-teammembers. For example, I was recently at a fast-food restaurant and ordered some food which was ready behind the counter and just needed put into my hands so I could leave. I asked the cashier if she could hand me my food while she was waiting on another persons food order. She said to me, "Oh, my bad. Here you go". Fortunately, I knew what she meant because I understood the terminology, but to the uninitiated, it may sounded more like, "My bad, baby go poo-poo". That my five year old niece can communicate better before entering public school than this pimply faced teenager ready to leave public schooling is kind of scary.  BookMark This Link

Turnmeloose.com has recently added Ghastly Grub to its regular features. Very funny stuff if you are willing to still enjoy dining out after reading.  BookMark This Link
