I'm back on campus for soccer preseason. Unfortunately I hurt myself on the very first day. I was running the forty yard dash and pulled my hamstring. Tomorrow we have our first scrimmage against the UofM club team. The trainer said I should not play and my coach is holding me out of the Tuesday scrimmage as well. Hopefully I can keep my conditioning up somewhat.

OK. I have one more paragraph to write on the end of the Chinese media's freewheeling in 89. Then I'll write the conclusion. After that I'll hand this beauty in. Finally, I'll pack my stuff up.
Oh yeah. Then I'll go home for the ENTIRE SUMMER AND WON'T HAVE TO THINK ABOUT CHINA AND MAO OR ARISTOTLE OR MILTON OR CHAUCER OR ANY NUMBER OF THE DEAD PEOPLE WHOM I NOW HAVE A SUPREME KNOWLEDGE OF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need 3 more pages and this sucker will be done. I have written 2,000 words in about 51/2 hours of work. That's dang good.

I'm now finished with exactly 5 pages. Only 7 more to go and I have 7 hours to complete those 7 pages. I've been slowing down for the past 2 hours because I was bogged down in a couple of paragraphs on the People's Daily editorial of April 26 1989. Now I'm hitting more of the analysis stuff. It should move along quicker now.

1/3 done. Must..........Keep...........Going......... I think I'll go grab a quick breakfast. And then I'll get back to writing some more about the fascinating story of the Keji ribao, the first Chinese daily to publish an account of the Tiananmen Square protests.

It's 7:00a.m. and I'm feeling good. I've been up and about since 5:00. Took a shower and have been working on my paper since 5:35. I'm about 50 words away from being 1/4 done with this paper. So far it's going well and I'm kind of enjoying writing this. We'll see how long that lasts considering I have about 9 more pages to write. My goal is 12 pages, anymore than that is just a bonus. I think if I even get to eleven and I'm running out of time I will just stop and say, "It is finished."

This is cool. I've become a lot less ethnocentric during my short stay at St. Olaf. Americans have the tendency to believe everyone in the world does things the way we do. This is one of those interesting differences.Sounds of the World's Animals

WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! YE-AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! The tradition continues. Blair returns to the finals for the fourth year in a row. Way to go boys!!! Now I'll I need to know is whether Nate scored that goal. I have a feeling he did.

WOOHOO!!!! I got every bit of the extension I asked for. This is fantastic. Now I can pass some of those other finals and sleep like a normal human being.

I just emailed my professor asking for an extension for my 15 page paper. I'll get it, but it won't be for as long as I asked. I'm embarrased to even say how long I asked for the extension. But he should have some mercy on me. I have 3 papers and 3 tests in a two day period. No one can do that!

Seeing Gladiator tonight got me to thinking about how much better we are than the Romans. Then I saw this.

WOW! I just got back from Gladiator. I really enjoyed it, but I should not have been there. There's just too many other things I should be doing. But back to the movie. Gladiator has it all, good plot, excellent acting, beatiful sets (even if they weren't real), and great music. The soundtrack included a lot of what I call Enya music. I guess a lot of people would call it world music. That reminds me, I need to find some good world music on the net to listen to as I do my homework.

Even though it sounds dorky, I really like NPR. REALLY like it.
I just signed up with Blogger and so far I am pleased. It will be easier to update this journal.
I was at the library for much of the day. Now I'm taking a break and reloading for the next round. I have a lot of things I need to get done tonight.
It's extremely cool outside today. I thought it was supposed to be May. Oh wait, I'm in Minnesota...cheers
