// That last post about being totally swamped was no lie, let me tell you. After a somewhat hectic schedule I have two days in a row off but of course find myself with a laundry list of things to complete and, although it appears at the very bottom, relaxation isn't a very high priority. I'm trying to be productive even while here in Saint Louis but that is usually a pretty steep task for me to complete, what with the DVD library in the house and the Black Thorn only two blocks away. // The good news is that the My Hero Records site is completed and functional. I am very happy with the way the site turned out and I think Dan, our client, is as well. I have a lot of cool ideas for like-minded sites that I'd like to get from the back of my mind on to the drawing board and eventually on to the information superparkway. // The Lost At Sea site is also up and is becoming very automated. The new reviews database is built and working - now all I have to do is enter all of the old reviews into it and OH! how much fun that will be. Actually, in all honesty, it won't be nearly that bad and it is something that needs to be done. I've had a few more inquiries about advertising on the site and I'd really like to see it take off and become something very functionable and even profitable. There is simply nothing else like it on the web as far as I know, at least in terms of content, and I think it is something that people want to have available. We'll see how it works out. // For now, I have errands to run. Wednesday, January 03, 2001
// The next week or so is going to find me swamped with the magazine and the label stuff, not to mention working on several websites for SDC. I hope that I will remember and have time to recount the events of the past weekend, but there is a chance that I may not. Lets keep our fingers crossed. // Please note that there is a 30 degree discrepancy between the air temperature and the wind chill factor, which is understandable when the winds are at 18mph. With a week of forcast highs above 40 coming up, the weather will certainly not be my "homie" ... Sunday, December 31, 2000
// The last day of the big year of 2000. A lot has happened in this year, on many levels. For now I will just say that last night I hit a deer with our new car. This is a bit problematic. Today we drove back, got high, and discovered a porno in Molly's videotapes called "The Young Like It Hot" - complete with self-titled theme song. We are now watching it. Friday, December 29, 2000
// I've also been swimming through the links off of linkdup. Lots of cool stuff there. Just in case you were wondering, sitting there with your legs crossed, a warm cup of mocha steaming on the desktop next to you. Just in case you were wondering. // And don't forget about our homies in the K'zoo Rock Massacre.
Booyah. I really like the shopping carts and I hope that they can continue to be a part of the UTAH! identity kit. I need to be sure that Ed and Eric are down with it before I start my marketing mind onto more stickers and shirts and whatnot. [grin] But posters are always cool! Thursday, December 28, 2000
// Drove to Saint Louis today to make posters. Many thoughts during the 6 hours of driving, too many to even get involved in here and now. I do love Laura very much though even if I don't know how or what I am doing with her. It has always been love. // I'm also working on tidying up the loose ends dangling from MyHeroRecords.com. Today we learnt that the site's max size is 50megs, and we're having problems at 54megs. If it weren't a Unix box it would apparently have room to budge. We'll get it straightened away soon. Also working on getting the final launch of the online Grand Theft Autumn. Todd has been ill communication for a few weeks. Wednesday, December 27, 2000
// Today was a bit more relaxed, although I was stressing a bit because the mail for #26, a route I had never done before, was tied out in a strange way. I eventually figured it all out and did some re-organizing to get it all squared away. I eventually got it taken care of and then blazed through half of #82 in about 45 minutes. Home by 4:00 and, to top it all off, I have New Year's Eve and New Year's Day off. How rad is that?
// Man, yesterday was a real bear at work. Champaign City Route 12 is supposedly the second heaviest route out of our office and I was supposed to carry the whole thing. The volume of the mail was reason enough to be skeptical, but when you compound that with the facts that a) the mail wasn't tied out when I arrived, as per usual, and I didn't end up leaving the office until after noon b) I had to run all of the parcels as well as the mail, something that would not usually be done when Colwell Systems alone has something like 15 parcels. Basically, by the time I got everything in the truck there was no room to move or organize it. c) the way the route is set up is extremely odd, bordering on "completely fucked" status. Needless to say, when I called in at 3pm (while I was waiting on a tow to pull me out of the snow) and told them I'd done the first 3 relays I expected the posse to arrive soon. Unfortunately it wasn't until after 4:40, sun setting, that help arrived. At least there were 4 of them to help me finish. It was cold as hell and it sucked, but the mail went out. I'm sure there were a few mis-deliveries, and I DA'd about all of the parcels. Let's hope today is a bit less hectic. Off to work now ... Monday, December 25, 2000
// Four AM on Christmas morning and I'm up, unable to sleep again. I don't really mind that much, or at least I wouldn't if I didn't know that a few hours from now, when the alarm wakes me for work, I'll be begging for another hour in bed. Lets hope the hot chocolate will send me snoozing directly. // This evening we took a tour of the Orpheum theatre, which I have wanted to see for quite some time, and it was a great experience. The building is pretty amazing, especially the main hall itself. It is really a shame that they're converting it all into a Children's museum because it is such a marvelous building, especially the ornate plaster in the auditorium and the balcony boxes. It was great to be up in the booth as well, which is set up almost exactly like the Hi Pointe's - right down to those cast iron pedestals! I had forgotten about dragging those heavy bastards down from the booth with Trent. I could probably go on and on about the theatre, but I will refrain. It was terribly fun to run amuck in such an old house though, and there was even free box-wine to get me all saucy. I was practically inflated and rouge-tinted by the time we left at 6pm. // After the Orpheum we didn’t really want to go home so we walked down to Boltini for a few drinks, which quickly became an event when the credit card was put down and a tab opened. Both of our heads were hanging and our eyes were rolling around in our heads by 8 o’clock, although it felt like one AM. For the walk home we grabbed two more chairs from outside, which made the stumbling walk home that much more painful. // To cap the evening off Laura spent an hour hunched over the toilet bowl repenting for the evening’s sins. Some people never outgrow the age of 17, although this evening it was rather cute. // Hot chocolate is gone, time to give the bed another shot. |
