Feel free to muck about. I'm not quite sure where I am going with this whole thing
anyway. There appear to be Blogger entries below this box, and a forum which

I've thoroughly given up on my blog. The message board is much more current. I'm sorry if you feel betrayed ;) Man, I really like Depeche Mode. link

Feh. It looks like Blogger ate my last blog for breakfast. What did I say in it...? Something about the Padres. Let's see, well, after tonight they are back to .500 -- hopefully they can break the even mark tomorrow night for Dave Winfield jersey night. I'm really glad that Winfield decided to enter the Hall of Fame wearing a Padres jersey - it means a lot to me. He came up with the team, but some would say he had his best years with the Yankees. For me, it says that "Yeah, I know the Yanks can pay more, but smaller markets like San Diego are important." Plus it just proves to me again that San Diego has some of the best fans in the country -- why else would Dave choose us over New York? Fuck you Steinbrenner, we have Dave. link

I wonder if this Blog thing works any faster than it used to... What's today's date anyway, the 11th? Fucking A - it's been a while since I've done one of these. In the time since I lost updated, I turned 27, my brother visited for a weekend, and I stirred up controversy again at work... Oh, and Lise's (and a few other's) webcomic went online. Opening day for the Padres was yesterday - we lost 11 - 6. I'm going again tonight and Friday -- Thursday's day game will be my first one missed, but I will be going Saturday to get the Dave Winfield Jersey... My parents are coming down this weekend as well. I suspect it is just to see if I fucked up on the choice of the condo that I bought, but oh well. I had to move out of the apartment, and this is a nice place. I have no regrets (well, except that I don't have in house laundry hookups, but what can you do...) That, and I'd like a garage. And a puppy. But you can't have everything... link

Hey, who would have thought it. I actually have the keys to my new condo now. Man - there has been so much fucked up stuff about this process that I almost wouldn't have done it now that I have gone through it all -- but I'm glad to be finally in. I don't know where to start journalling this. Maybe I should just do a list of things that have not gone right.... 1) Put in the initial offer, but it was rejected due to the fact that I was going to have an FHA loan. So - we increased the offer (to a little bit more than the asking price) and then we were accepted. Anyway 2) After we were about to close the deal, I was contacted by my loan guy who said the property was no longer FHA approved -- so our loan fell through. This was 2 days before it was supposed to close. 3) Tried to get our apt. lease extended for an extra month - no go. Someone had rented our apartment already. 4) Kept getting told that "something would happen soon". This mysterious soon kept being later and later... 5) Finally got new loan, but interest rate was .25% higher than the initial was. Also, because of when we were closing, the closing costs were $2000 more. 6) Because it was $2k more, I didn't have enough for the down payment. This resulted in the cash advance on the credit card.... 7) A while back, I had bought a PS2 from Amazon.com . We quickly realized we couldnt afford it, so we returned it unopened. Of course, the $500 was not credited back to my account until yesterday... so... 8) We have been living off of a credit card. 9) The cable guy wouldnt install our Road Runner cable modem on the computer of the previous owner. We are without cable service at this time as well. 10) We went to go pick up the keys at noon today (they were supposed to be ready at 10am) and they weren't there. Anyway. I own a condo now. Tomorrow morning everything we own should be arriving while I type away at work. I hope there are no more snags... link

I, Aaron, promise to get my shit together at some point.
No, Really. I mean it. If it seems like I've vanished from the face of the earth, it's because - well - I've vanished from the face of the earth. I now live in a little hovel which I call my office. It's an interesting little enviroment. Up until recently I shared it with another inhabitant - we will call her "The Programmer" for lack of a better name. Well - "The Programmer" has moved on to (much) greener pastures, and at the same time another co-worker who I truly admire has left as well. This leaves 1/3 of the development team (that 1/3 being - ME) at my job. So.
Yeah - I sorta have 3 jobs right now. The spice must flow, and all that jazz. Hopefully this will all get straightened out soon and we hire new people and my workload decreases - and other run-on sentences. But -- I doubt it.
Oh yeah, I'm buying a Condo too - did I mention that? I'm in escrow - it closes around the 1st of March. That's a pretty crazy scene as well -- we need to move again and I need to start packing up all of my shit into boxes and getting paperwork done and mortgaging my ability to leave town at the drop of a hat...
Oh well, I had to get old eventually. I just didn't realize it was going to happen this week, or I would have scheduled a vacation. link

This weekend was really great. I don't know where to start...
On Saturday we got up early (for us) and drove an hour and a half north up to wonderfully smoggy Anaheim. The air quality was horrible - you couldn't see the mountains from the freeway. It was all worth it, however, when we got to Disneyland. We were pretty lucky to get there, too, because I ended up taking an exit from the freeway which Mapquest was unaware of... So. We parked in Pumbaa, which is the farthest away lot. There is no tram to this lot. Ugh. This will come back to haunt us later in the evening.... All in all though, I had a really good time at Disneyland. The lines that were long we skipped past using the Fast Pass. This was a great idea by Disneyland - I was impressed by how much waiting you could avoid with these things. The only ride that was not open that I wanted to go on (well, besides the apparently deadly Roger Rabbit ride) was Space Mountain, but you can't have everything. Seems like Space Mountain is closed a lot. We stayed at a hotel across the street from Knott's Berry Farms. It was an ok place, but there was definite room for improvement. The beds were not that great, and if we hadn't put one of the comforters up over the window the sun would have woken us up at 7 am. Disney's California Adventure was really nice. We had advance tickets to get in before the park opened to the general public. I HIGHLY recommend the "It's tough to be a Bug" ride. Don't want to spoil anything, but it's very good. The Muppet 3D adventure is also a must see. I give it VERY high marks for their recreation of the theater from the muppet show, down to Waldorf and Astoria in their booth. You might have to see this one twice to catch it all. Ok, I admit it. We left before we saw everything. My feet and calves were killing me from all of the standing / walking. Lise was in pretty bad shape too. We checked out all of the areas, but missed the big Imax presentation. It had a 100 minute wait when we went to check it out, and I didn't want to wait in a line that long. If you go to CA adventure, go first thing and get a Fast Pass for that ride. We got our passes at Noon, and they were for the 8:40 - 9:40 period. Ick. link
