Keeping with the previous announcement of this website's one-year anniversary I'd like to draw your attention to a post I made exactly one year ago today. August 8, 2000 is the day I proposed to Karen and, perhaps even more exciting than that, she accepted. Looking back over the past year of messages is a fantastic reminder of how deeply we are intertwined into one another's lives.

I'm taking Karen to Iowa in two weeks. She's
going to meet my family for the first time.
Everyone is very excited, the daughter they
never had making her first pilgrimage to the
land of milk and honey (soybeans and pigs,
really)....I want to share everything that is me
with her and this trip will help us both, I'm sure.

.....Bear with my grumpy missive as I plod
through impossible projects at the office,
my only respite being the evenings with
Karen.

October 24, 2000 (from the wedding site)

Have I mentioned how excited I am to be
getting married? How much the idea thrills
me? How, with great longing, I yearn to
call Karen my wife and to be introduced as
her husband? The thought is absolutely
intoxicating.

We're counting down the last 7 weeks of
singlehood. I don't think of this in the typical
American 'OH MY GOD YOU ONLY GOTS
48 DAYS TO LIVE, BRAH! POUND THIS
BEER NOW!" way because I can't think of
anyone I'd rather pound beers with than Karen.

I'm obviously the last of the great romantics.

I nearly forgot to mention that Karen bought
leather pants yesterday.
Rowr.

I like to watch her from a distance. I sit in the
car while she's at the ATM, I watch her walk
up my driveway, I watch her leave again with
a small pain in my heart. She is as beautiful
and amazing from afar as she is when she
sleeps next to me. The mystery of that distance
is powerful and it is one more proof to my mind
what my heart already knows.

....I'm a married man and it feels great!

How could I say it any better than the ways I've been saying it all along. Karen is my soulmate and our path is ruled by destiny. The most incredible woman in the world shares my life with me - should I have expected anything less? But, how could I have expected anything so great. Hers is the kind of love that drove Shakespeare's quill and now it drives my heart. Karen, you mean the world to me, thank you for being my wife. The best is yet to come!

I forgot to mention that Monday, in class (Exchange 2000 Implementation and Administration), we had a member of the Promise Keepers technical staff. Around noon an account executive showed up and had a chat with him in the hall. Apparently his payment for the course had not been received and was asked to leave. He broke a promise! Ha! Hypocrites.

I'm in training this week (learning the bad mojo and voodoo of MS Exchange 2000) so there isn't a lot of time to keep you up to date on our impressively lively and enviable lives. I can, however, catch you up on the weekend events - not the least of which was the Area 1 Festival. This was Moby's treat to us, the loyal fanbase, wherein we were allowed to purchase $50 tickets to see him on stage. His performance was nothing short of astounding as was the set by Paul Okenfold in the rave tent. (Also of note was Carl Cox) Karen and I dressed up for the show in our best concert style! As you can clearly see in the photo Karen wore only a necklace and some pink hair dye! (and her nose ring and the stud in her chin, too) We were nearly the oldest people in a stadium absolutely brimming with teenage angst and ketamine. This was, by the by, the last event to be held at old Mile High Stadium. They've built a new sexier, younger stadium with bigger seats and a tighter hot dog vending scheme. Corporate monsters of rock Invesco sponsored the new stadium and even manged to subtly work their name into the official title "Invesco Field at Mile High". Old Mile High is going to be knocked down with wrecking balls from what I hear. Our office has front row seats! I'll try to get some pictures of this event and if there is dynamite involved I'll get video!

Yesterday we met my work friend, Steve, for some fishing time on the North Platte river near Deckers. Way out in the foothills Steve decked me out for fly fishing and gave me the ten cent lesson. My vote is still out on whether or not this is the end-all-be-all of fishing. The best part? I look good in waders.

Constant vigilance to the photo archives has produced a few more items. Most notable is the Washington DC trip which we just put online. We spent a great deal of time in front of the Great Panda enclosure at the National Zoo. This is an amazing place to live and if they ever honor my request to live in the National Zoo I want a place like this to call home.

For the time being our photos are being hosted by MSN. I know...yech. Big Bad Microsoft does an OK job of making this an easy fix until we can get dsl or a cable modem or a faster can and string for Internet access. Get your doses of Karen and Drew here.
