Monkeys.  This is where something will go, I haven't decided what yet.

My world is crashing down. As a result, I will be refraining from Blogging for an indefinite period. Additionally, the PlankWalker.net domain will be down for a little bit, so if you want to keep tabs on PHILville, make sure the long http://www.freespeech.org/plankwalker/default.html address in your location bar is saved under your Favorites, instead of going to http://www.plankwalker.net [same goes for sub-domains, so a heads-up to Jon, Pat, and Pete, as the name will most likely be down after the end of this month]. Point additional links accordingly.

"Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?"....I intend on using these summer months as a time to collect myself and my thoughts, meaning that one shouldn't really count on including me as general company for a little while, even though I highly doubt that would've been the case anyway. On that note, I wish everyone an enjoyable and enlightening summer break.

All my best,
Phil

Wow. I haven't felt so at ease with myself in a long time [well, since Kairos anyway]. My first exposure to Second Saturday openings was tonight. I mean, obviously I was expecting to find people who shared my interest in art, but....wow. Shoot, they even dressed like me. But anyway, I can't explain just how much I enjoyed the evening....looked at lotsa art, almost walked straight into that "Talk Show Theatre" that was featured in The Bee a few days ago [that would've been embarrassing], hung out and listened to a live band [who were very cool, hints of beat stream-of-consciousness influence], and went to the closing reception of the Himovitz Gallery, which made me sad, given the subject matter of the exhibit, and also because it was my first and last time attending. Next month, I'm out to hit the downtown galleries. I am officially a Second Saturday junkie. Lizzie and I might be working together over the summer, given that, um, she or I doesn't push the other out of the running for the position. Oh, and I saw Annie yesterday....it was an incredibly crappy musical, but just seeing the actors put forth the effort and have so much fun while doing so made my attending all worth the while...."the art and the passion," indeed....such a beautiful art form. Given the AP madness that preceded it, I haven't had such a great day as today in a long time. Happy day.

Two out of three AP hurdles cleared. English Comp was a nice exam, I'm sure I passed. Art History. Why the hell did I even take that? Oy, such a painful painful gruesome exam, I failed miserably. Trust me. On a lighter note, I'm on my way to a summer job. Yeah buddy. Yay for mother and her state office connections. State Fair offices, here I come. One more test--AP U.S. History, kinda iffy--and then I'm free to enjoy my weekend plans. Woo, woo.

I have not studied. I shall weep bitterly at my failing of the AP exams. Just wait. On a lighter [not really] note, I may or may not be organizing a trip with some friends [very few though, it's hell babysitting your peers] to San Francisco to watch the touring production of Cabaret. One little snafu: they're only there till Sunday the 20th. Another: good tickets run for 76 clams. Hoo-ah, indeed.

The same gawddamn ice-cream truck has been circling the block for the past twenty minutes. I want to strangle the driver and smash his stupid little music box over and over with my right foot. Ooh, and then help myself to a delicious ice-cream treat. Yes.

Snerf. Dead, dead, dead. That is me, after AP tests [they have ruined my life, btw]. And then I have given up panicking in Pre-Calc, but then again, I've also decided to just give up. *shrugs* I decided not to be incredibly bitter and say hello to Traffy....his play's not going so well I guess, so I offered my services as a PSM. Ooh, I'm an executive editor for the Cutlass next year, woo woo. Even though I know jack-squat and am the self-proclaimed king of [mindless] monkey work. Somebody had to do it. SAT tomorrow.....I better get a better score this time. Oh yeah, "Pizza with Roy" rawked. Yay Father Roy. I plan on going to the SOA [or WHISC, or Dairy Queen, or whatever the hell it's called nowadays] in November. I think I scared a kid from Bellarmine. That oughta show 'em.

I am out of the Senior Cheerleader race. Not that I was ever in it to begin with, mind you. Thank gawd. Oh, silly silly Jake, and his ridiculous shenanigans. And I shall not take it. No.

'Twas a twenty-page history chapter to outline. I had like three pages left. And then the stupid yearbook computer wrote over my outline file, and now I have nothing. I have a few choice words to say, indeed. Luckily, Patrick is the man (see picture). Fer shure.

When boredom meets scanner. Damn I really am wondering where the hell my Easter Break went. That was kind of a waste. But restful, which is what I needed. Less than three weeks till AP tests....and I know absolutely nothing. Ooh, gonna get a drama webpage going for the school. Yeah buddy. Mom comes back tomorrow from the *dun dun dun* Philippines, woohoo.....I don't think I'm going to San Fran though, I have so much gee-darn homework to do, it's not even funny. Not funny at all.

Freespeech.org is crappy at the moment, so enjoy the PlankWalker.net zaibatsu corporation there while you can, 'cause it'll probably be down before you know it. Yup. Oh, I did laundry today, I was so proud of myself. Sorta. I bought an Annie Lennox interview cd [I love her, btw], and was floored. It was spectacular. Happy Easter.

I should probably take a lesson or two . . .

"So I take my cue from Bill: it is time for a gentler, kinder Daria. A Daria that the public will come to know and love at a safe distance. The kind of Daria who inspires the young to dream, the old to cling to life, and the middle-aged to increase her allowance.

The best is yet to come. Unless it's all downhill from here.

I hereby pledge to undertake the following image-improving actions:

1. Kiss babies: Eventually. I plan to work up to it by winking at them and giving a thumbs-up.

2. Encourage innovation and opportunity: For example, lying on the couch watching TV encourages innovative programming that looks just as good vertically as horizontally, and creates an opportunity for someone to bring me a grilled cheese sandwich cut into triangles.

3. Consider plastic surgery: Some suggest removing my perpetual scowl, but I fear the possible side-effect of laugh lines. Flip-o-suction (removal of flippant remarks from everyday conversation) is a more likely possibility.

4. Modulate voice: From now on, I will speak with a soothing West Indian accent. Mon.

5. Highlight family togetherness: A photo shoot has been arranged and a puppy has been rented. Shots of harmonious antics will be available to the press. Please disregard obvious retouching.

6. Choose an inspiring slogan: "A Daria Who Dares To Dream" will be emblazoned on stationery, t-shirts, and those rubber things you use to open cans. (By the way, it's true. I sleep a lot.)

7. Make eye contact with the public: Preferably by peeking out from behind closed curtains.

8. Allude to baking cookies: My favorite recipe is on its way to the editors of Bitter Homes and Gardens.

9. Give lavishly to charity: I am pleased to announce the endowment of a new trust: the Daria Morgendorffer Foundation for Building Self-Esteem in The Face of Overwhelming Hostility. It contains $6.49.

10. Step aside: I hereby promote Jane Lane to the position of CEO of all my corporate undertakings. She will represent me in all dealings, public and private, as she is far more charismatic and friendly than I am. I will use this opportunity to rededicate myself to ongoing cryptozoological research and development of a thick skin -- while remaining a highly paid consultant, of course.

I just want to give a little back."

Gawd dammit. The Chicago Conspiracy Trial was a damn fluke. They didn't even perform the play tonight! I was so pissed....I wished they announced these things earlier--namely, before I drive clear across town to see a four-star [it better've been worth it too!] play. *grumble* agayne. Freespeech has been down for several days rather sporadically....very pissy. At Spence's place right now. Cool. I guess.

I was not so sick today. Guess the incessant intake of DayQuil, Tylenol allergy sinus, and Tylenol nighttime flu capsules paid off. Or my nervous system has been dulled down incredibly. Whatever. Just got back from serving the Holy Thursday service at church. I love that liturgy. Incredibly. So much symbolism.....that and the fact that I now reek of incense. I love that scent. Going to serve the noon Good Friday service, woot. I finally got some of the materials to prepare the annual report for the charity at my church.....and now I'm utterly confused. Good sign. Ooh, I got a tune-up today, yay for me....it was at some place in Citrus Heights that was dirt cheap, and they were mighty quick and efficient, even though the place looked pretty grungy....I liked that. Been kinda worrying about tying up the telephone line, as we hadn't heard anything from Mother and her venture into the *dun dun dun* Philippine islands. Ick, sounds like a bad movie trailer. Anywho, I really dislike going to talk to Father Klein now....he's tearing up my schedule class by class.....he's now making me take Physics over the school year, 'cause I can't take it over the summer 'cause of the UCLA shpeal. Which means I have to drop AP Latin. And then there were four. *grumble* indeed. Goin' to see The Chicago Conspiracy Trial tomorrow. Should be a good play. Or so I hear. Oh, Winding Way is a fun road to drive. Yep.

I'm growing extremely ill. Ouch, yuck, ick, you get the picture. I think I've scared enough people with my Guatemalan-Hawaiian color explosion after Kairos, so it'll die out rather soon, trust me. My summer is blowing up in my face, and I don't know how I'm gonna stop it. Gonna get the PhilMobile [courtesy of the PatMan] a tune-up tomorrow. Yessir. Gonna go to school later today and talk to Castronovo about the Oaxaca trip....I very very want to go. Very. Sheer crapload o' homework to do over Easter Break. Snerf.
