holy shit. classes start tomorrow. where does the summer go? i am only taking one class this quarter (since i'm working full time at compuserve & don't want to take a full class load on top of that), but still.. i don't feel ready for it. anyway, with the coming of classes, i do believe it's time to take a little look back.. so here it is, mike's summer in review:
isn't my life exciting?

ugh. yesterday i moved again, hopefully for the last time for a year if not more, and i am SO glad it's over. i think i've finally come to the realization that i have too much crap -- is that box full of papers from freshman year really doing me any good? in addition, i need to either get a larger apartment or a smaller desk, as indicated by the paint i scraped off of the wall while going up the stairs (which has to be a new speed record as far as losing a security deposit goes) and the fact that i had to take the door to my room off of its hinges in order to fit the desk in.
update: almost forgot, but thanks to taber & rutledge for helping me haul some of my stuff in. see? i'm not as ungrateful as you think.

i find myself trying to get more & more information on these events. i continually reload cnn & msnbc & keep getting up from my cubicle and checking the TVs over in the corner of the office that're tuned into the news channels. i've seen all of the footage hundreds of times, read all of the stories, but i still keep on looking. i think it's some reaction mechanism inside of me that's just trying to totally overwhelm myself with information so i don't actually have time to just sit & process the sheer reality of it all.

if this poor college student can give $10 to the red cross, you can too.

cars are lined up 10 or 11 deep at the gas station on the corner here, and although the prices aren't that much higher than normal yet, i anticipate waking up tomorrow to some gouging. something that's really driving this home for me is that while i normally hate the fact that the off-campus apartments are directly in the approach path for the columbus airport, i would give anything to just hear a plane going overhead right now. it would just be so normal to hear one.

feeling like.. physically sick right now. maybe it's just me being paranoid, & i can't think of any reason she'd be near the pentagon, but i've still given mandy's cell phone a couple of calls, just to try to reassure myself. nobody's working around here, there's just kind of an air of sadness & helplessness around here right now as we crowd around the office TV & watch cnn & just try to make some sense of what is going on.

rather uneventful weekend, for the most part. i decided to escape the always-annoying football crowds around here on saturday & head home so i could do some wash & fix my mom's computer, as well as raiding her pantry & partaking in some real food for once.

so i've had a girlfriend for all of a week & there i was about half an hour ago seeing her for the last time before she leaves for an internship in DC for 3 months. while i have all confidence that our relationship can survive the whole long-distance thing (cause we've both done it before & hey, it's only 3 months), it just sucks. bleh. oh well, expect to see me bitching on here in several weeks about what a long boring 6 hour drive it is to washington.
