It's early days but sign up and let's see what happens. All are welcome!
Comics International mailing list - nothing to do with the magazine but this is probably the heart of UK fandom in all it's myriad facets. Heavy traffic though!
Comics Journal discussion forum. US alternative bias with criticsm and industry stuff.
Comix@ mailing list - alternative and Euro. Used to be the king but that was five years ago. For Your Head message board - US minis and indies. American complement to BugPowder run by Jeff Levine. IndyComics message boards. Like The Comics Journal only less angry!
Platinum Comics mailing list for vintage comics Reinventing Comics
Discussing Scott McCloud's book Vertigo - actually not much to do with Vertigo. A good, openminded middlebrow list.
The BugPowder Weblog
News from within and without the BugPowder milieu.

Pete wonders if comics are important?
Hell yeah! It's on hell of a communication media, so on a quick trawl:
On Daryl Cagle's "professional cartoonists index" page I liked Turner from the Irish Times.
A dialy strip's inhabitant's react at Adam & Eve These will be transient pages & will be moving on soon...
There must be more folks...

That the branches and loops of these diagrams seem both logically coherent and oddly paradoxical is not lost on Ware himself. "Time is, I guess, the raw material of comics," he says. "To me, comics are the medium in which the human experience of time can be most beautifully represented on a page. There's something about the fragmentation and categorisation of life into a crystalline book of pictures that, when read, 'come to life' - which seems true and wonderful. Narratively speaking, comics allow one to almost see the future and the past simultaneously."

The TRS2 weblog is undergoing some changes with the reviews first appearing on the weblog before being archived. I had planned to update it at least five times a week, but well, we'll see how things go...
(Coda Coda Coda!)
I never thought I'd be recommending a comic with the sub-title "Path of the Warrior" that is painted in a 70s fantasy art style and chronicles the lineage of a lone warrior, but I have to say that the Metabarons, which frankly, fucking kicks ass, is one of the best comics I've read all year. I was already intrigued by this because it's written by Alexandro Jodorowsky but it was Tom Lennon's article in Borderline #2 that sealed the £12 purchase for me. Battier than batshit indeed!
Great Andi Watson link (thanks to Owen of no fixed site but many many lists): Since it's now a bit colder and retail Xmas (as opposed to real Xmas) starts in a few weeks, here the AOL Advent Calendar from last year. Click on the boxes for the sweetest animations ever!
Hello,
we are running a small press day on the 15th of September in the
Black swan bar, Newcastle. We hope to sell and promote comics at this
event, so if you have any comics or promotional material you'd like
to be at the event, please get in touch a.s.a.p. All comics are sold
on a sale or return basis, any unsold issues will be returned to you
along with a cheque for the items that have sold. Rather than take
commission on your work as most places do, we may add a small mark up
to the price to cover costs. Any left over flyers can be distributed
or sent back to you. If you wish to attend the event, admission is
free and the event starts at 12 o'clock. If you're interested please get in touch.
That's The Black Swan pub,
Westgate road,
Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Check out There Goes Tokyo or email Leonie for more details.

Xerox Army is a relatively new American project by Kevin Bramer being a comprehensive-as-possible list of alternative / small press comics and creators as possible. While most of the links are a bit obvious (to me anyway) I did find a load of things I wasn't aware of and it is early days. His mission is to give a small web presence to creators who don't have their own sites so contact info is available to all. Which is admirable. Keep tabs on this one and send him info.
Trip down memory lane to the 80's when Forbidden Planet was cool and Titan made interesting T-shirts. (Or we were all younger and easilly impressed.) I present you BRUTE! Magazine - the archive. You had to be there. It was good.
(From Lukelog which seems to be dragging up all kinds of cool comics related things from way back when without realising it.)
