We're BACK! And we've already got a fan site!

Almost done with the new epiphany web site... just need to get a stylesheet going and do a few last minute touch-ups.

I can't believe I'm getting married next week.

Bekki emailed me and said "see you on the sixth!"

Oh my god. It's so close we don't even have to say "January."

Don't look at the totally dorky guy and his dorky ascot, but this is the tux coat that Sam and his groomsman will be wearing in the wedding (with black pants - not gray). My dad will also wear this style. Sam will be wearing an ivory bow-tie and matching vest in this style, called "Harrison." The groomsman will wear the same but in black.

Now we're getting down to the nitty gritty legal stuff.

Had our cake tasting today at the Four Seasons. I love Amy Mintz -- she has made our planning process a breeze and she is incredibly accomodating and helpful.

A new chat transcript for your reading pleasure: "Bridesmaid Torture" (starring Kat and Cecily)

Monday, December 11, 2000

I know I've been pretty lax about posting lately, so here's the latest wedding news.

Sam and I booked the honeymoon on Wednesday, and I never felt more like we were ACTUALLY getting married than when we finalized the travel arrangements. We have both been looking forward to this trip for a year, and we both REALLY need the break.

I "graduated" from the College of Fine Arts on Saturday, even though I still have two finals left and one is pretty crucial. After my last final on December 18 I will finally feel like I've graduated. The walk across the stage was fun and emotional, although somewhat meaningless.

My parents are planning on getting to Austin on Tuesday, Januaray 2. I am planning to get a serious massage on that day, per a recommedation by my sister Alecia. Audrey Nimmo, my favorite angel and the best damn massage therapist in town, is going to come to my house and de-stressify me before the chaos begins.

Most out of town guests will be arriving on Wednesday. There are no scheduled activities that day (thank GOD) so we will all probably busy ourselves with getting settled into our hotel rooms and my apartment (Meade and Hella!). Maybe the bridesmaids could go out for dinner that night? It would be fun!

My grandparents will be hosting a dinner on Thursday, January 4 for family and bridal party. It will be a relatively small and informal gathering and we will probably either eat at Serrano's at Symphony Square or at Grady's up near where Sam and I live.

Friday morning will be the Bridesmaids' Luncheon at the Four Seasons. My grandmother is hosting this affair and it should be just lovely. The rehearsal will be held at St. Austin's at 5:00pm ( I think... better check with Fr. Foley) and we will move directly on to the rehearsal dinner at The Spaghetti Warehouse at 4th and Colorado. I have reserved their private room for the occasion. I'm thinking about showing some video and Hella has promised to do some juggling with her boyfriend Klaus. It will be relaxed and fun.

Saturday morning I would like to meet all the bridesmaids and head on over to the salon (whether or not you're planning on getting your hair done, it'll be nice to have you all with me while I get mine fussed with!). The salon that I want to use is very close to the church, so we'll just move right on to St. Austin's to get dressed and then, well, I'll get married.

I am really looking forward to the reception. The florist I hired really seemed to understand the kind of flowers and decorations I am hoping for and I can't wait to see what kind of ambience is created by her efforts! It's one of my most highly anticipated moments... besides being up at the altar with Sam, of course.

Sunday morning after the wedding we hope to have breakfast or brunch with the remaining guests and then hitch a ride to the airport for our 1:50pm flight to Orlando.

That's about it for now... email me if you have any questions about the events. I'll give everyone a nice map and directions to every restaurant and hotel, so no worries on that. Most of these things will be held downtown, which is rather easy to navigate (if you steer clear of construction and the Governor's Mansion...ugh).

More soon! Also check out http://www.samandcecily.com... I'll be moving all of this to that new domain very shortly, and hopefully a whole new design to go with it!

26 days and counting...

I found some pictures on Hella's site that I'd never seen before... this is amazing. She looks so regal! Heh.

Wow. My last name is spelled "Ordozne" in the Dillard's registry. Never seen it spelled THAT way before.

Sam chose our "everyday porcelain" -- it's called Bistro Christianshavn by Dansk.
10:00:17 AM

Sam and I registered at Dillard's yesterday. It was kind of exhausting (I'm sure you're feeling my pain... heh). We registered for the Eternal Gold china pattern, Eternal Gold flatware and the Firelight Gold stemware. Snaz-zy.

Eternal Gold Stainless - why am I so obsessed with CHINA all of a sudden? ACK!
12:15:16 AM

"Introduced in 1965, this ivory china banded in 24 karat gold has become the company's best-selling pattern."

12:14:12 AM

Wednesday, October 18, 2000

This Mikasa pattern is MUCH more along the lines of the Eternal pattern from Lenox, but it's only $10 less per place setting, and I still like the Lenox better! I am so tough to please...
11:58:24 PM

My Nonnie was very pleased with the choice of Lenox's "Etermal" for my china pattern, but she suggested that I take a look at Mikasa's Palatial Gold as a possible alternative. It's a little less expensive than the Lenox... I'm not sure if I like it as much - it's less simple than the Eternal pattern - there seems to be some kind of pattern in the gold. I prefer it to be completely plain.
11:56:38 PM

Sam and I are now registered at Target and Williams-Sonoma (thanks to Jen and Anne, respectively)!

It's a little movie of me, Cayla, Kat, and Sam!
12:17:19 PM

Wednesday, October 04, 2000

Okay, here comes the china pattern decision. I can't choose between Lenox's Eternal or Federal Platinum. My grandmother is going to kill me because she explicitly told me not to choose anything with a metallic edge, but there were hardly ANY patterns that I really liked... they're all too fussy or gaudy. I loved these two, though... especially because they're made so that you can get different kinds of "accent plates" to go with them and change the look - instead of buying a whole other set of Christmas china, I can get Christmas accent plates that match the china I already have.

I never thought I'd get to the "picking my china pattern phase." Wow.

My bridesmaids dresses came in today! They are prettier than I ever expected!
11:57:28 PM

Thursday, September 28, 2000

Next on the agenda...
The invitations are in! I picked up two big boxes of stationary from Alegra's the other day -- we all "ooh"ed and "ahh"ed over everything. The invites are made of a heavy ivory cotton paper stock thermographed with dark gray ink. They are absolutely beautiful. The inner envelope has a pewter lining - very nice. Now the only thing I have to do it send them out...

My mom has mailed off all of the dresses (amidst the happy excitement of the birth of Jonah Estelle, Alecia and Patrick's new baby!). She says that she insured the packages so they will most probably need to be picked up at the post office. The Austin bridesmaids will get their dresses directly from me. I can't wait to see them... I hope they're as lovely as I've imagined!

I am pretty sure I'm going to at least start the process of managing my invitations this weekend. I will probably need help stuffing and stamping them all in the near future, but for now I'm going to go to The Cadeau and get one of those luscious blown glass fountain pens and a bottle of gray ink and start practicing my calligraphy!

Sheesh! The Spaghetti Warehouse site needs major help. Haha... okay, this is where we're thinking of having our rehearsal dinner. Casual atmosphere, lots of selections for vegetarians and carnivores alike... yadda yadda.

Can you tell I'm really into these details?
1:01:11 PM

Stephanie says that Tunes Across Texas is a good place to get a DJ. At this point, I honestly don't care, so I'm probably going to call them this weekend to get rates and I'll probably end up hiring someone.
12:57:42 PM

Monday, August 07, 2000

Okay, here's the latest update. I need to send an email to all my bridesmaids to let them know that the dresses are NOT going to be purply-blue as previously thought, but rather charcoal gray. This is the result of a simple misunderstanding and since nothing can be done about it, I'm totally over it. Heh.

Casablanca is in the process of cutting my dress and it should arrive in Austin by November 11.

I have ordered my thank you notes and designed the invitations (Stephanie ROCKS) and I am waiting to finalize the guest list before making that final order.

I still need a DJ.

We need to book the honeymoon.

We need to find a rehearsal dinner space. (Thinking about the Spaghetti Warehouse or the Z Tejas Annex on W. 6th Street.)

We have signed the contract with the Four Seasons.

Tuesday, August 01, 2000

Nancy from Alegra's just called me and left a message saying that Casablanca is in the process of cutting my dress! YAY! I have asked that they alter the pattern slightly, so my dress will differ a little from the pictures on my site. The sleeves will be extended to the elbow, and the neckline (front and back) will be raised one inch. We ordered an extra yard of organza just in case I need a little tuck of light coverage here and there... I am really excited. Every day this whole wedding things seems a little more real.

I enjoyed looking at her pictures and reading the captions... check out Matt and Rachel Zeppa's Wedding.

Black magic overkill, but still a nice photo example of the type of flower.
3:12:47 PM

I'm thinking about black magic roses a lot lately. Probably because due to an error on the part of SERENDIPITY BRIDAL (er) I will have charcoal gray bridesmaids instead of purply-blue bridesmaids. Someone mentioned that black magic roses would look lovely next to the gray, and I happen to agree. This site has some arrangements that incorporate black magic blooms.

I found another picture of the Regina B tiara that I'm lusting after. I should really just call them and get them to quote me a price. Then after I pick myself off the floor sneering in disgust, I can get on with my life.

I like this bouquet too! I'm starting to think the flowers will be more important to me than I thought. I think it's because I realized that the whole ambiance of the reception depends on the floral designer's ability to transform the space. I wish I were talented in that way, but it all makes me nervous... I wonder how it will all come together...

I wish there was natural light in the ballroom at The Four Seasons. That would make all the difference to me. I guess we will have to rely on candlelight.
3:11:50 PM

St. Austin's has a very austere altar. I'm thinking some candleglow could warm things up a bit in the front of the church. I hope we're allowed to add some candles... I think these frosted cylinders in different sizes would be perfect.

Ahhh... Martha Stewart. If only she were my personal wedding coordinator.
3:02:08 PM

Even more scary bridal gowns.

MarryingMan.com. I am not making this up.
11:35:28 PM

I tried on some different styles of shoes yesterday and kept coming back to the Dyeables style called "Emily." Although I would love to have unique and fabulous shoes, these are awfully sweet. I like the look of them.

I didn't like the picture from the catalog, so I cut the shoes out, grayscaled the image (to get rid of the pink cast) and placed them side by side.
5:27:28 PM

I took some pictures this morning at The Four Seasons. Sam and I have the San Jacinto ballroom on hold for two weeks while we make our final reception venue decision.
3:46:58 PM

Tuesday, July 11, 2000

This Kenneth Cole shoe is almost what I want... I would love to have an ivory colored Mary Jane that looks almost 1920s - 1930s vintage. I wouldn't mind some beading on the shoe, either... but I will probably not get too fancy a shoe.

About.com has a whole section for people who are planning a wedding in Austin, Texas! Cool!
5:05:29 PM

Regina B. DOES have a web site (when it doubt, try companyname.com... duh). The site is hideous, though... and I don't see the two designs that I found on theKnot.
2:03:52 AM

I have uploaded a couple of photos of tiaras I like. These are both by Regina B., a company which doesn't seem to have a web presence, but I did mange to find a phone number (212/643-2939).

Tonight, over ice cream at Amy's, Matt suggested that Sam and I have an ice cream cart at our wedding. Turns out, Amy's does weddings! (Get in line, Matt!)
