It's 5:49AM and I'm totally ill. Thanks gman! Heh, maybe if I'm lucky they'll let me back into the Bag o' Nails someday. I've been reading a lot about the Korg Karma, and seen some really disappointing reviews. If anyone has any experience or owns one and can offer a review or some advice, let me know. It's serious cash for someone who's just recently gotten in into keys, but it looks way too cool. On another note, my work schedule has been seriously beating the crap out of me so I'm seriously behind schedule putting some tunes out. As previously posted, I've got some done, but I can't do anything with them as the vocal samples are free for me to use, but not to redistribute. I redid my Lil Jon and the Eastside boys remake and I'm much happier with it. Tuesday, August 28, 2001

okie dokie, tried to release v.2.0 of this site a little early, sorry bout that. Good news is I've got about 5 tracks done, shall release them shortly Monday, July 16, 2001
I have heard tweekend. It is good. Very good. I bow to the guys who have more gear than us. Phat beats, noisy synth grooves. I'm amazed. They did it again, better than before. Wednesday, July 11, 2001

Alrighty then. I know know I've posted more in the last 12 hours than I have in the last 12 months, but the music is really driving me. I wanted to throw up some reviews along with the new gear, but this is all starting to look a bit complicated, and I think maybe a hosting change might be necessary. Why should I pay anyone to host SQL for php for me when I can do it myself. Hell, why do I pay them anyway. I've been learning all sorts of wicked stuff to do with the EA-1/ER-1 combo, and I think I'd probably be the first to really document all they can do. There's a video on the korg page, but it's very ES-1 biased, so I don't count it.
Ok, enough rant. Music news. Rob and I both have a bunch of new gear we'll be posting. We've discussed doing something in the electronica realm, as it'd be perfect with some of the new toys, but where to go with that is not quite certain yet. On the gear page, I'm going to start linking my stuff to the manufacturer's sites because it's more interesting to see what the some of the stuff does rather than a picture with no description. Also, all PC equipment is strictly dedicated for music. *out* - Mike
I'm not a northern yank. I'm not a southern redneck. I'm not a way out west idealist or a down to earth mid-westerner. I can't stand goths and vamps, I don't care for jocks and airheads. The senile anger me as much as the arrogant. You can take your piercings, tattoos, and body modifications and put them in a room with all the rest of the things that make you different like everyone else. While you're at it, you can take all your "alternative lifestyles" and lock them in there too. Maybe if there's time we can catch all the people who've recently discovered how "cool" country music and NASCAR are and put their attitudes somewhere too. The only thing anyone ever fought and died for that was worth fighting over was your right to be you. Strangely, 99.5% of America conforms to or rather enslaves themselves to one set of ideals or another. Don't be a statistic, do something worthwhile before your time is up, because you know no one will do it for you. Whatever you do, always remember: Your government doesn't care about you. Your company only cares that you show up. Your church just wants your money. And everyone lies to you. Happy birthday America, we'll be blowing stuff up to commemorate you! Sunday, June 24, 2001
It's been a super long time since I've blogged, but I really don't ever care enough to say anything. Well, to the world at least. Something irked me today though. And no, I'm not talking about my loud neighbors. For some reason Jenny and I got on the subject of "cop freebees". I guess her mom was in line for something and a cop walked to the front of the line. When her mom gave the clerk the evil eye, the clerk mentioned something about "the badge". Well Mrs. Jenny's Mom informed the clerk and cop that she was a school teacher, they let her ahead of the line. Or something like that.
So without further delay, I announce the "Mrs. Mike D's Mom Free Diet-Coke-A-Day". I've always noticed cops get a ton of freebies wherever they go. Is it because of their great civil duty? Is it because they put their lives on the line daily? Is it because they do so with little to no pay? Those of you who know me and some that don't, know my mom was a school teacher for nearly three decades. I think she qualifies for a free diet coke from McDonalds at LEAST once a day.
The other side of the arguement isn't a pretty one, but it's that cops get free stuff to keep the cops off the backs of the people giving free stuff away. Well in that case, vendors beware, Mom's the sweetest lady in the world, but I wouldn't get on her bad side. I'm going to put up a banner in a few days for those interested in putting it on their pages for the cause.

All of my posts to date have been factual or non-sensical. I had a extremly long discussion with a very good friend tonight that I'd like to share with you all. In my younger years I never understood why my parents expected so much of me. Only recently have I been able to understand -- they saw what I'm just beginning to see in myself from the get go. I'm not on earth to be dull -- to merely exist. I am not here to shine, nor am I here to exploit a talent or two. Mom and Dad knew I was capable of so much more, and I'm eternally grateful for them having seen it and raising me to be able to someday realize what I'm capable of. I cannot be satisfied with a job well done, nor will I be satisfied with my best. To some this may sound too much like perfectionism, but to me it's my calling to sparkle like the sky on the fourth of july. Should I succeed (and no matter what, I always am) it can bring others light as well. I think through some gift the fact has been relealed to me in that my strive for excellence in whatever I do will always bring me and those around me happiness. I'm going to give a mass shout to all the people who've helped me throughout my life...
First and foremost are Mom, Dad, Matt, Jenny, and all of my family; I love you all so much... Richard, Jeff, James, and Brian who are all so different but share so much... Bianca who was so dear to me during such a hard time (myra you rock too)... Matt, Mike H (you don't know how much you're appreciated), Todd, Ante, Dave P, Woody, Douggie Fresh, Reggie (can't say enough about you dude) and the rest of my brothers at Sigma Nu... All of my friends and family at work: Joe, Darrell, Monte, Lisa (Mom away from Mom), Chris, Bruce, The Princess, the Shawster, The Knight Rider/Huey Lewis Fan Club, everyone in L1 cuz ya all got heart, Betty, Corey ( I guess I'll count you ), Kevin (you're cool for a heathen), Tammy, Chris S., and everyone I offended at the Holiday Party :)... All the people that used to work there: Dookie, Silent Bob, Corey, and everyone from L1 because you endured pain... Then there's Curtis, Mark R. (you geek), muh Hoodlum Michele, Jon P, Matt P (Who coined me "the wookie"), Dan Emil L. for countless hours of enjoyment watching your confusion, CEM who I wish I'd hear from, Nikki H my sister who disappeared, Kristal and Kelly, Family Ties Dad, Drunks Playing Scrabble, Bryan, Barnaby and Long John, Superhost, Gwar for countless terrorizing blood baths, Rootie (how do you feel gwar came first?), Sasquatch, Laurel, Kelli, Ginger (nice bat shirt), Amanda, Sara, Jill (waste of bumwipe), and all the girls at Phi Gamma Pi... the "Are you Irish" guy?, Burt Bachrach (thanks so much), and anyone I can't think of at the moment... oh yeah, and that Rob C. character Thursday, January 25, 2001

Eeeww. A peice of gear has died. The P-150 laptop died. Freak accident. It's not a great loss, but it was cool idea for road use and could almost be used as an instrument. Rob added some new pics today, including the Korg Pandora PX3 (Badass lil' box, check it out), the elvis mic and more. I still need to add a pic for the EA-1 my own Dr. Sample and god knows what else. Has anyone looked at Korg's website? I got a headache in the 30 seconds it took me to find the links I needed from their page. That scrolly thing at the bottom has GOT to go.
While I'm on the topic of cool Korg synth's, I saw some band at some halloween thing (yeah, I know need to blog more often) that was pretty unmemorable, but they had a decent keyboard player with a Triton (sorry there's no link, tell their webmaster that his glorious vbscript didn't function right). I was amazed by the sounds coming out of it during his warm up. The demos on Korg's site do it no justice. In the words of Mushroomhead, BWOMP.
I may put up a webcam link, but in many formats and the loss of the PC I did this on I have no clue what the font name was. Time for an overhaul. This site totally lacks in the design department. No cracks on the content! I'd ask Dilok to help, but I was a total dick to him. I'm soooo sorry dude. Two links, no more said: Yahoo Travel and Port Columbus.
I know this blog is turning into a novel, but I had a few trips to Media Play on Sawmill Rd. this week. I had to return some things I purchased and I got some games to keep me occupied during this blistering heatwave. Just out of curiousity I hit the techno section, always on the alert for good music. Low and behold, the disc I've been looking for almost a year now... Wide Angle by Hybrid was sitting right there. I heard "If I survive" and "Finished Symphony" on some compilations and mix CD's and I was touched. Needless to say it was mine. I brought that home and listened for hours. It's impossible to nail the genre of their sound, but that's part of the beauty. It's like Trance/D&B/Classical/Pop. Sorta. Check them out at Distinctive Records. It was hard as hell for me to find info about them on the web. I missed them when they came here with Moby, it was after the fact that I found out they were here. Wild horses couldn't drag me away from the box office if they came again.
Lastly, Jenny you rock.

It's been way too long since I blogged. Way to long. Sorry, dilok heh. Not much has been happening, I moved closer to work, trying to find time and inspiration to write some tunes. Maybe going to buy some serious gearage after Christmas, not sure what I should get. maybe if anyone has any ideas they can mail me at miked@geargasm.com. Just looking for something that's prime gearage. Rob tells me he's going to add the pic of the Elvis mic and some other pics after turkey day, I'm going to have to rummage through boxes to remember what I have that's new. I hate unpacking. Lates...

I just picked up a Korg Pandora PX3. I was going to get a POD2, but i was feeling cheap and the px3 was used. I haven't noticed any direct impact on my playing as of yet, but i may just need to buy more equipment. Only time will tell. Oh, mike a&f called and they are still not hiring at this time. They said maybe around x-mas. Until then check at the gap. =) Thursday, September 21, 2000
I still think Dilok needs to join the band. At least for entertainment purposes. If you check out his site you may find a link to cool Dilok.com T-Shirts. I'm not selling them, nor do I see a profit from them, but isn't Dilok a cool word? Wednesday, September 20, 2000

I've been playing with Microsoft Agent scripting. I want to make a Ricardo Montelban agent though, and have him be your guide to geargasm. I must check into this, but I doubt I could get the agent script to add a lousy accent. Monday, September 11, 2000
Yes, I do like gwar... I do not wear Abercrombie and Fitch. And I do not drink Budweiser thank you. (I'm not commenting on me being a weenie)

DAMNIT! I just wrote my theory of Val Kilmer being the bastard son of Englebert Humperdink and my blog disappeared. Is N'Sync still alive? Hasn't gwar eaten them or pantera beaten the living shit out of them? I can't tell you how much pop culture makes me want to fucking vomit in the middle of a mall record store or abercrombie and fitch so I can piss off the some trendy fucking clueless wannabe uneducated tasteless un-unique lame un-interesting peice of shit mommy and daddy's money spending punk bitch motherfucker. Hi, I'm angry angry bitter man. Maybe it's the LARGE amount of caffeiene in my system now. Probably. I think I'm gonna start the "Fuck your boyband tour". Geargasm, The Shizit, Ministry, PIG, Fear Factory, MDFMK, and Wesley Willis. Well maybe not wesley willis, but he'd be a hoot. He's got enough anger for everyone. What ever happened to that lucas kid with the lid off? I wonder if Billy Corgan would help on the "Fuck your Boyband tour"... he's not doing much and he's omni-pissed. shit, it's 4am and I have to be up very soon. Later Sunday, September 03, 2000
You know, nothing angers me more about people than plain old ignorance and the refusal to understand. Second are the conformists. Whatever you conform to, be it you conform to redneck ideals or you're an A&F person, conformists are truely fucking boring. Third is people who go out of their way to be different so they can complain about the conformists. Can't anyone just be themselves? Monday, August 07, 2000

I'm BAAAAAACK. Wow, I didn't write too much while I was gone, although I'm about ready to put out my first song with GEARGASM. Stay tuned Thursday, July 20, 2000
HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW WHAT A FUCKING WEB BROWSER IS? HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW WHAT YOUR DESKTOP IS? HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW WHETHER YOU ARE USING A MAC OR A FUCKING PC? WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU ON MY PHONE? DIE DIE DIE!
LANDSLIDE! ROB GETS A MAIL ORDER BRIDE! I'm goin off for a few days, maybe I'll come back with some material, maybe not. Wednesday, July 19, 2000
Oh yeah, and one more thing, today is the last day of the poll, tommorrow is my last day before I won't be posting for a while so get your votes in. If things keep going they way they are now the next one will be where Rob's wife will be coming from.
Check it out, it's me at work. Live Streaming Video As you all undoubtably know I have no pic on the pics page, so this is as close as you get. Lawn gnomes rule by the way, along with those gazing balls.

Here is a perfect example of what's wrong with society. Rob's new toothbrush.
I'm not going to comment on if i have the problem for spending $84.59 for a toothbrush or the fact that you can even buy a toothbrush for $84.59. Not only that, but it appears that mike has some strange obsession with the lawn gnome. Saturday, July 15, 2000
Friday, July 14, 2000
Ok, if there's enough people who pick a mail order bride for Rob, next poll is what country she'll be from.
Ok, Jenny said that my blog was too negative and hateful. So I'm gonna be positive today. It's gonna be hard since I've already been made to want to punch people in the face. And sitting listening to Pretty Hate Machine doesn't help either. How about Butterflies? She was the 100th hit so I'm taking her out tonight. If you're hit #1 million I'll do the same. I'm really doing a study cram session this weekend, I think I may bust out the EA-1 and Fruityloops though also. I've got a cool loop for a new song in the misc section for the newest geargasm short flash. I may go get my Mesa-Boogie fixed this weekend too, it's such an amazing sounding little amp, especially when plugged into a cabinet. I'm adding a poll section and a web board to this site too today I think as long as it's slow here. Well out for now. - Mike Thursday, July 13, 2000
Should have some songs up VERY soon. You know it really bothers me how the majority of bloggers are so goddamned trendy. Wearing the Abercrombie and Fitch, drinking their milky coffee drinks, blogging about the hassles of their daily life. If this is the new version of creativity shoot me dead now. I wear what fits, I drink black coffee, I hate anyone who's not with me. Die.
Tuesday, July 11, 2000
Dilok won't blog today, he's too important. "Blah blah blah customer care conference"
YOU'RE ALL SHEEP!
(I need coffee, now) Monday, July 10, 2000
Bought SRV's greatest hits CD this weekend. Sure it has nothing to do with the music I make, but it rocks. Played with my SP-202 some more, loaded up some Stephanie Swift samples in it, kinda cool. Well, back to work. Friday, July 07, 2000
Rob and I concluded we just need more time to put some tunes together. I don't want too much time though, that just means I'm unemployed. I'm sampler shopping right now, probably be a while till I buy a hardware one, as I'm fairly comfortable software solutions, but who wants to see a guy type live, you know? I'm out for now, I'd like to sleep but my neighbors decided to have a kegger.
Wednesday, June 28, 2000
OK, so it's been a while since I've posted, and rob has yet to post. (lazy bastard). I was in training for work all last week and he's off in Denver for some work related stuff too. Not much has happened, trying my best to get some new material together. Today I'm off because I had the worlds worst migraine when I woke up, I'm finally feeling a little better but the light is still killing me. Music-Go-Round has FINALLY redeemed themselves and redeemed themselves well. I got my SP-202 back from them yesterday and it's in perfect working condition, without paying a dime extra. It still has it's design flaws, but if they could have fixed the quality of it to it was better than it was when it left the factory they wouldn't be in the repair biz, you know? It's a great little cheezy sampler that's SO much fun to use. Rob has some PHAT commodores samples on his, I'm working on making my own stuff with Fruity Loops and just exporting it for ease of use. Well, TTFN - Mike Saturday, June 17, 2000

Wings at Roosters on W. Broad tonight, come hang out with half of geargasm... I'm the dope in the Greek hat Tuesday, June 13, 2000
Alright, I meet www.blogger.com standards now. I may have lost some posts, but what the hey, does anyone really care about my ramblings? We got together over the weekend and played with some old Commodores samples and about ruined some old Frank Stallone records. I attempted to play the drums, but that was a mistake. It's too early, my brain hurts, I'll post in actual english later. Saturday, June 10, 2000
I need help. I'm not a web designer. Join the geargasm collective. mail me at miked@geargasm.com if you're interested. I'm experimenting with what this is everyday. Oh yeah, I wish I'd get added to the new blogs section :) Friday, June 09, 2000
I was supposed to get together with rob to finally lay some tracks down, but I didn't. doh. hopefully soon and I'll post them for the world to hear. - Mike D Tuesday, June 06, 2000
As Wesley Willis might say "Rock on London, Rock on chicago, Diet Pepsi Rules." got the blog up. So much has happened here in the last few days, it's kinda been a pain in the ass. Bleh. I bought a SP-202 and paid $260 and change out the door with it. Rob bought a SL-1200mk2 and a Numark PT-1000 and this sampling mixer from gemini (a gemini pdm-6012 from what he just said), and of COURSE all his stuff works. Yesterday we went to smash to get some needles and slipmats and stuff and low and behold he sees a SP-202 working for like $180 something. Works, perfect condition. The store I bought mine from said they'd try and repair it and get back to me in two weeks. They better do more than that to keep my business. Although they DO have a bitchin selection of vintage gear cheap. Well I'm out folks... - Mike D |
