CONFIRMATION CLASSES
Confirmation is the training offered to complete the preparation of our youth to give evidence of their own Christian faith and purpose, and to gain understanding of the privileges and obligations of membership as they journey to be received as full members. Confirmation Training is for all youth, age 12 years and up, who have not been “Confirmed”. The classes are scheduled for October 22-26, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. Mark your calendars now! SUNDAY SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE
Sunday, September 23rd at 9:45 a.m. is the Sunday School Open House. Our theme is “The Study Hour,” taken from II Timothy 2:15. Please plan to visit your child’s class or one of the other classes listed in the bulletin.
BAPTISM CLASSES
The parents of children to be baptized and adult candidates for baptism MUST attend an informational class prior to being baptized. The next classes are Saturday, October 13th in the Church Library. The class for parents and children begins at 10:00 a.m.; the adult class begins at 10:45 a.m. During these sessions, Rev. Donna Wilson will provide information about the sacrament of baptism in the United Methodist Church. All baptism candidates MUST complete a Baptism Card. These cards are available in the Newton Lounge and should be submitted to the church office ONE WEEK PRIOR TO BAPTISM SUNDAY. Please contact Rev. Wilson for more information.
HEALTH MINISTRY
·Saturday, September 22nd from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. is the Sickle Cell Awareness Workshop. Sickle Cell Specialist, Julie Routhieaux, RN and Jill Cain, MSN, of the Children’s Mercy Sickle Cell Clinic will make presentations. Also, Mr. & Mrs. Gary Garcia will share what it is like to parent a child with Sickle Cell. For more information, contact Charles Swinton at 816-918-3047 or Bessie Fleming at 816-523-1911. Must have a minimum of five years experience in programs serving the poor, homeless and disadvantaged.
